  1. Consider using stainless steel cable on a hitch winch instead. Fasten the winch to the boat and you can deploy and wind up with the winch.
  2. Apparently there is a way of checking the transom for rot with a multimeter something to do with the conductivity of water. I have taken the motor and reefed on it with no flex seen. However I was by myself and may not of had the best perspective to check as I worked it. Does anyone here know the multimeter procedure?
  3. Aww, what do you know about tackle anyway..... A private schoolin' by JP himself. I'd be listening.
  4. Under no circumstances do you want to turn this offer down! Garry can take you from greenhorn to competent in a morning. As an added bonus, he's OK company too.
  5. I am torn about that right now, I would like to do it up right, that is the way I try to do things, but I also do not want to throw good money after bad.
  6. Welcome to OFC we are a decent bunch for the most part, that of course does not include me. Ask anyone on the board....
  7. Here are some more pics. I ghave stripped the carpet and wire brushed the bow and helm decks. In the helm deck I found evidence of a prior repair, On the bow deck I noticed that the deck appears to be swelled on one side. Is this a concern? As well, I went under the boat and found this crack: It si just ahead of the pad. This is about the mid point of the hull Here is the keel at the bow Now on to the wiring.... I pulled the bow controls out to see what was going on there and also to access the bow hook bolt. It is a little loose. When I pulled it out here is what I found. cut wires on the run and charge switch... CAn these be restored and or used to control an aftermarket on-board charger? And a coiled up wire that appers to be from a depth sounder. ANy idea what brand that is from? Thanks for any and all advice.
  8. Huh; and here I thought you were calling an obese dog.....
  9. It was great to meet and re-meet everyone there. Dave gave a great presentation as always, and I finially have a GPS for the new boat. Hirk was there dispensing advice and knowledge, heck, everyone was free with thier expertise. That is one of the defining things about this board. Thanks again everyone for a very nice time.
  10. Take a look at these pics and feel free to make suggestions as to what can be done. Battery compartment Rear deck Helm Consol Bow controls (What do these do?) Rear Livewell Shifter and livewell controls (How do these operate?) I am starting on stripping out the carpet and I am thinking about a deck extension as well. Any and all advice is welcome! How do I remove the shifter from the sidewall? I was test-fitting my seats and found it need to be moved up an inch or 2.
  11. I just wanted to publicly thank and apologize to corvette1 for A: receiving the seats and B: Forgeting to give you the Canadian Club I bought for you. I was so excited to get these seats that it slipped my mind.
  12. I used to work on a kill floor, and we used a 22 with the muzzle up against Bessie's head. Very quick and humane. Don't ask about lamb and pigs.
  13. Hey guys, just MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, that is her Valentines gift to him......NAH, it's a trap.

  15. Rob, those pathfinders are hard on fuel, but very reliable I have heard. Nice jack BTW!
  16. That is why is such a good thing they are comfortable! I always have mine on. Well, at least when I'm in the boat.....
  17. Check these guys out.... http://www.miskatrailers.com/index_a.asp does that get me free tickets to the show??????
  18. My cardiologist is exactly such an animal. He had very successful practice in Ohio and shut it down to come back to Canada. He feels our system is better due to the fact that it places people first rather than money. So now you have heard of one.....and a specialist to boot!
  19. I know for sure that it is the lower unt oil. The first thing I checked when I got the boat was the lower unit oil. It was milky and to top it all off the lower unit would not turn because of ice in the gearcase... I bought Yamalube and pumped it into the gearcase, changed the rollup door in my shop, (it was 3 inches too narrow ), and pushed the boat into the shop. Came back after a week, leaving the motor tilted up on the transom saver and noticed some oil on the ground. Lowered the motor and watched in amazement as the oil poured out over the prop shaft. The prop is off of the motor, BTW. I had one quote of around $500 to replace all the seals and impeller. I did my 20hp Johnson, together with Boatman, so I am going to attempt this one as well. Also I need to have the skeg welded. Check my post on the "other" board in the restoration forum to see what I am up against....
  20. Yep, and man was I disapointed! I'll ask my brother in law who is an AME to weld it up, or there is a welder in town that can do it also.
  21. Yes I am sure it is coming out of the prop seal, I watched it run out as I tilted the motor down........ I understand you have the ability to weld aluminum....*hint* *hint*
  22. I need to get another lower unit for my 1985 Yamaha 150 hp, i went to work on stripping carpet today and found a big puddle of oil on the floor under the motor , it is leaking out of the prop shaft. As well, the skeg is missing a peice so i think I might be better off to get another one.
  23. What should a LMS 332c be worth? I am looking at a used unit with puck, tansducer and original box. No maps.... I won't post what he is asking, because I think it may be a bit high. BTW the fellow is not from the board.
  24. I wax.....
