  1. I had heard reports, from reliable sources, of a 50 plus fish caught this past weekend on North Pigeon. When I saw the topic Pete, I thought it could be you. Still that is a beauty for the Kawarthas. The 50's are there, just not the numbers like you would find in trophy type waters. As others have said, you and Andrew are on a roll this year.
  2. I am with Dax on this one and have already made my call to the MNR Tips line. Their response was "we have already received numerous complaints about this video and we are passing it along to the correct people for investigation" Does anyone recognize the registration numbers?
  3. Andrew; you need to get the information to the MNR Biologist for the district you were fishing.
  4. Stop in at Angling Outfitters just outside of Woodstock on highway 2. I know he always has a good supply of jigs and cranks for everything from panfish to muskie. He also carries a good assortment of rods and reels.
  5. More Appleton's with less Coke.......
  6. I bought a set of BPS goretex rain gear way back in 1986. The bibs have since worn thin through the knees and thigh area, but the jacket I still use. It was the only Goretex stuff they had in the catalog at the time, and it is very lite to wear. The jacket I wear through the summer months and it still keeps me reasonably dry for an almost 30 year old product. I have never cleaned it or tried to refresh the coating, the way the instructions had suggested. I have however purchased a second full outfit from Cabelas. Guidewear, uninsulated. I use this in the early spring and fall and find it also works well and have had no issues in the last three years other than the Velcro on the sleeve cuffs.
  7. Wagoneer; I really didn't want this thread to turn out the way it went for the initial 10 or 12 responses. I was only trying to caution you on what could possibly turn into a disaster for you and a large Muskie. It seems that you definitely know what your talking about when it comes to the operation of your boat and equipment. Whatever you decide, have fun and play safe.
  8. Not too sure I wish to reply to this for obvious reasons. I think your lure and structure strategy are probably sound, however I am concerned about the picture of a large net, big lures, three rods spooled with only 40lb line, and a fish with teeth and length which potentially could be almost half the size of your boat.
  9. Not a lot to be done for a broken toe other than what has already been suggested. Ice and elevation to keep the swelling down, painkiller for when it's needed. I would also paint your toes the same pretty purple black colour.....
  10. I bought a scissor jack from the wreckers for $5.00. I keep it and the appropriate lug wrenches and a piece of 3/4" plywood (8" X 16") in a small tote bag when I tow the boat. I found once, when I had a flat tire on the boat trailer, the normal bottle jack I had would not fit under the frame with no air in the tire. I had to pull everything out of the truck to get at the vehicle jack.
  11. Sorry Linda, I can't help either having never been. Perhaps Ron might be of some help. I believe he has been a few times. Ron?
  12. Hope those fish are back on the feed again in about 9 days from now Matt. See you then.
  13. You can't leave the original Cardinal 4 off that list either. It and the Mitchell 300 were the GO TO reels in the 60's
  14. That rule will all change after to-nights results Lew...........NOT
  15. There is at least one 50 inch fish in the Kawartha's to bust your cherry Dave. See you tomorrow night.
  16. If I'm not mistaken, Hot Knots in Orrilia used to let you bring your boat in and try out different props, all in the same day. I'm sure there is a charge for this, but I don't know what that would be. I also don't know if they still provide this service.
  17. Just under 10 minutes to play and look at all the empty seats..... Fickle Habs Fans.
  18. Lew, instead of paint, you could investigate an acid wash. It actually etches a portion of the surface and brings out the different colours of the stone and iron content of the cement. A job best left to a professional though from what I've heard.
  19. They do the same with the calendar. Send it to you and then three months later ask for the money to pay for it. It is up to you if you wish to do so. The same with the tickets. When I get them, I just send them a cheque back with my name on the stubs. It is one of the biggest ways for them to raise money for their projects.
