  1. Cliff my wife just had repairs done to her car caused by a reckless shopping cart in the parking lot of k-mart. LOL almost 700 bucks that looks like a 10,000 dollar bill, crushed like a beer can? Get well!
  2. Just my experience rates during the early or late season are cheaper and seem to climb with schools out, just more demand for cottages during the summer for families. Some allow dogs some don`t, extra charge at some. Off season rates are probably an attempt to extend the season and a far less demand? Boat with a cottage expect to pay more, more with a motor. Fire wood? Some use it some don`t, some areas it has to be brought in and its expensive a reasonable fee isn`t out of the normal. Docking? very few places I have been didn`t include it some way, either built into the price of the cabin rental or separate. It is nice knowing ahead of time exactly how much it will end up costing you.
  3. 1987 smokercraft pro angler with a 35 merc, it`s been parked as long as I have been, in the barn. Needs some repairs possibly for sale.
  4. I don`t know if the people that are at our Sportsman show go to yours to sell stuff, there used to be a guy at the one here that made flipping stick rod blanks into spinning rods. Nice stiffer action rods and the telescoping handle made them easier to cart around. I think they were rated 3/8 to 1 1/2 ounce lures. I have one made by Falcon, no longer made, options are out there, someone on the board makes rods? Spiel maybe? I use a spinning reel semi closed face (Abu 507 Mark 1) also no longer made with 17 to 20 pound test mono, it handles it easily. I also use some 7 foot one piece Abu-Garcia rods, medium heavy, lol dirt cheap like 10 bucks, they had the right action.
  5. You do have to consider that some companies know the original patent holder may not have the funds to fight a patent infringement case, which can drive competition out of business? For countries it is the same, the largest counterfeiter of the US 100 dollar bill is reportedly sponsored by the government of North Korea. We might have to borrow money from China to fight that one!
  6. Look south, we would have so many more people in prison the rest working 24/7 couldn`t pay enough taxes to support them. Is free room and board to people that don`t want to work any way a deterant? A badge certainly isn`t!
  7. If you are not against coming stateside you can try here http://www.paradisebaypark.com/index.html I have had all my kids there at various ages, tons of panfish, not much size to them though, although I never seriously fished for them. Safe beach, a small lake that doesn`t get rough. Some serious bass fishing there.
  8. If you have noticed they have done it for years with a lot of their products, their catalogs used to have a notation on their store brand of pony head jigs about the copy ing of Blakemore`s roadrunner brand. They are the largest seller of fishing tackle, you have to wonder if the original manufacturers are comfortable with having them sell their product only to have them copy it down the road. LOL average Chinese guy makes 4 bucks a day, I should pay 4 bucks for 1 lure made in China? Getting to be a lot less choices out there though.
  9. Gas prices here went from $ 2.95 a gallon to $ 3.45 a gallon in like a week? $ 3.45 x 27 = $ 93.15, the projected price of my next fill up. Lucky my main vehicle is electric?
  10. LOL I have a doctor`s excuse? I can`t get out like I used too, it helps me keep what little sanity I have left? Just nice to see people out there that still love and enjoy the sport!
  11. Ya, certainly no expert on water flow. Just my basic plumbing, double the size of a pipe and increase water flow 4x, dredging some of the rivers, channels between the upper great lakes could cause a problem up there. Just my opinion error on the safe side? Low water levels could remove spawning options for native fish?
  12. I was looking for the article in yesterdays paper(oops used it to start the wood burner) it said water levels in Lake Erie and Lake O would be a little higher than last year. I think 6 inches.

  14. Look to long to be the Grim Reapers sig. Looks like his tool.
  15. I am sure a lot of progress had been made, but Stren`s Prime taught me not to be in a hurry to try new lines. It was like the first copolymer? and I threw it all out and had to take valuable fishing time off and search for fresh line 500 miles from home. I have been using original Stren for over 30 years, never saw a strong enough argument to change after the Prime incident. I tried spider wire when it first came out also, it makes a good heavy duty sewing thread. I expected to have to change lines during the season, I don`t expect to have issues with the line.
  16. Not anymore, my daughter wanted to go to the store a mile away yesterday, ya right. Didn`t make it out the drive. Kids, they have a plan? Had to have them shovel a path so the dogs could bust out!
  17. Dang what a change, sunny and bright here this morning , plow guy came early this morning and the drive is clear! 55 f by Thursday, then another front and colder. LOL Phil, just checking to make sure you didn`t try ice fishing! 1914 crashes here due to the weather reported to the highway patrol, day like yesterday? stay home!
  18. At least a foot of snow on the ground here and drifts up to four feet, Cleveland Hopkins airport was shut down earlier today and not scheduled to open till at least 6 am tomorrow. Might mean flying delays in a lot of places due to back ups. LOL got the snow plow driver scheduled for 4 to 6 am to do the drive tomorrow after the blowing stops. No place anyone had to go today to risk your butt going around here. Tried to call Whopper, supposedly his area is getting slammed worse than ours, if it`s possible. Hope the old guy wasn`t old shoveling.
  19. All of mine needed new plug wires around 100,000 miles, even the 2 my wife drove most of the time that were parked in the garage at night. Easy to tell hard starting when it is damp out. Just my understanding a design change in the window motors a while ago, quieter but not as durable. My 2002 also has had some issues with the door lock actuators. Like any car these days and dealer prices for labor, roughly 75 bucks an hour, if you can do it yourself it`s almost like getting the parts for free. fan belt tensioner went on my wife`s 95 part of the alternator bracket assembly dealer only part, at like 150,000 miles though.
  20. Great pictures and styles of jigs, doug cool! singingdog nice with the perch! I tip some of mine with altered uncle josh pork grubs, I take a heavy duty big eyed sewing needle and run rubber legs through the pork fat portion of the body just under the tough skin, never had a problem with it pulling out from fish. Also used small pork frogs, and plastic frogs, like flyrod size on some of them. Not just bass lures, a lot of different species will take a jig. I threw a lot of 1/8 ounce ones, finding them with a good hook was more of an issue, just like a bigger stronger hook in mine than the normal small aberdeeen.
  21. LOL Rattletrap, most of my driving the last 20 years or so was an 18 wheeler, I think the Astro is very comfortable! My wife`s 1995 was a conversion model with the fancy seats and interior, seats were way too soft for me, steering seemed different too, becaused or the added weight? maybe a different gear ration in the steering? Seemed sluggish compared to my more basic model. Same thoughts on it though, if they were looking to improve fleet fuel economy numbers they should have done away with the V8 full size van. LOL Lumina van? that was short lived! I pulled my tandem axle utility trailer 6 1/2x 12 heaped with green slabwood from the amish sawmill with ours, got to be near 5000 gross no problems.
  22. I have had 3 safari/astro vans still driving my current one a 2002. Great vans, never had any serious issues with any of them. Normal maintenance, an alternator, tie rods, window motor. Pulled my 17 foot aluminum with them and no problems. Ya Lew has one, 2005 I think the last year for them, don`t be afraid to buy used if you know what you are doing, all of mine have been used.
  23. I probably won`t drive that day! Since I only drive like 1 day a week I am doing more than most?
  24. Great pictures Glen! The shiner, golden? Arkansas?
  25. LOL Pete, I enjoy seeing the pike and muskie shows on TV, nice to see how the tough guys fish, way too many rods out for me, looks like a lot of work!
