  1. "How bloody gullible do they think we are?" LOL Beans, possibly as gullible as the average American? http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/11/06/AR2009110604799.html 288 billion in gold reserves and 10 trillion in debt? lol and spending like crazy? a bankers dream! The taxpayers here will be paying interest forever! With government issued monopoly money? It`s not really that the cost of gold has risen so drastically, it`s just that the value of government issued currency has become so worthless. The average citizen has to take the governments word of the value, and society is built around that. If someone calls the bluff? crash!
  2. Think I will smoke a couple pounds of reefer and build a plane! No way I would go on the water in that! People wonder why they get in trouble on the water?
  3. Taper I really only recall seeing a weasel in pictures, although I was roughly 100 feet away these animals appeared slightly larger than a ferret. Going with the flow here, mink is the most logical explanation. I have seen Martens up north, definitely not them, and they moved like a ferret, long and lean. They were moving together and close together, just have to guess at a male and female. One was slightly larger than the other, and both dark brown like the pics of mink I looked up.
  4. You can try mixing it up a bit, if they follow the senko but won`t strike? next cast throw out something different, a lizard, jig and pig? The fish may tell you what they will strike if you give them some choices.
  5. LOL Lew, that was never my experience with them. Seems to me you ran one too?
  6. Years ago I had a good sized Muskie shoot right past the lure I was trolling and hit the prop on the electric motor I was using to quietly troll with. Probably my fault, I put strips of reflective tape on the prop. I have heard of bass hitting the weight and bead on a carolina rig.
  7. LMAO, a debate over fishing line? Never! and everyone knows consoles are better than tillers!
  8. Hey guys thanks, after looking at pictures of mink I believe that is what they were also. Water? sort of, there are a number of farm ponds nearby, a few small streams that have a resident minnow and craw fish population. A pretty good sized woods to the back west of my property and I let about an acre and a half at the back of my property return to nature, and it is full of rabbits, and field mice, an occasional Pheasant and other birds. I live in a rural area, farm country. You need 3 acres of land and 200 feet of road frontage to build a home here. A lot of people in the area complain about the lack of wildlife but do little to encourage it to be here. I didn`t need 3+ acres of grass behind the house to cut so I let some of it go wild. It is full of Blackberries, wild strawberries and who knows what else. I cut a path around the edge to wander with my dogs. Sort of nice to see something around besides rabbits, groundhogs, racoons, deer and possums. LOL don`t want to see the skunks, the smell is enough!
  9. LOL, they look like Tuna to me!
  10. Out by my back field today and a pair of weasels? were wandering across the grass. At least I think they were weasels? I have never seen one here before, dark brown and shaped like a ferret? are ferrets ever dark brown? are they native to N/A? LOL and the neighbors cat following them, although from a distance, don`t think he had a clue either. The only ferrets I have seen were peoples pets, so no clue.
  11. Johnny, no idea on a sure fire method, just probabilities. My first goal in a bass tournament was always to catch a fish, just to get some idea what they were willing to take and a general idea of where they would take it, around docks, in weeds, humps, rocks. Usually 5 or 6 rods rigged and ready to go, some with just a subtle difference in lures, a slightly lighter or darker color, a slightly bigger or smaller size of the same lure. Try to establish a pattern, percentages, a better chance of doing well using this lure in spots like these. LOL sometimes everything worked, sometimes nothing worked well enough. Just playing with puzzles on the water?
  12. Small catches all, don`t be afraid to flip or pitch a 1/16th or 1/8th ounce lure under tough bite conditions. There are times when they just won`t take a big lure, a four inch worm or lizard can still catch big bass. Those 2 inch Rapalas? if that is the size of the predominant bait fish? They might be the way to go? Don`t get stuck on what should work, don`t be afraid to mix up the offerings.
  13. young one, just something to consider, if the dinks are trying to eat the frog? a 4/0-5/0 hook is no problem? It is better to wait until you feel the fishes weight on the line to set the hook. In thick weeds their aim can be as bad as some humans. Mustad also makes an unweighted hook in the same style as the old Mr. Twister keeper hooks, a barbed push in point attached to the hook eye, they also work well. The weighted ones might act as a keel to prevent roll overs? only like 1/16th or 1/8 ounce, not enough weight to make keeping it on the surface a problem. As usual Garry, good tips.
  14. An animal does`t have to be big to be dangerous to your dogs. Dad and my brother were going by an island at Pointe Au Baril one time and heard a dog in distress. They took a look and found the owner, a lady waving for help. The dog had a confrontation with a Porcupine. Years ago I had a few encounters with Rattlesnakes there. It is nice to be able to take your pets with you, but stuff can happen.
  15. As a kid I remember fishing with dad and his friends on Lake Erie (Ohio side) completely legal here. Lights attracted Emerald shiners around the boat which in turn attracted white bass, by then the walleye and blue pike had vanished.
  16. white sukas, stained porn stashe, way tmi! That thing would look really good on a quick strike rig in December! Ya and not on an ultra light! Congrats on the catch? seemed kind of crappy to me!
  17. Most boating stores sell a screen that screws on the the back of the pump, they are cheap a couple, few bucks. Areas with a lot of boating activity usually have a lot of chopped weeds floating around, it is easy for them to block the water supply. Your pump could be bad, replacement? 20-40 bucks? Note: if your boat came with a 500 gph pump? bigger may not be better! the overflow may not handle the extra amount of water and your live well can overflow.
  18. LMAO Wayne, you bought a boat? looks like you could have made better one?
  19. "But people or the media are not pleased," wrote the Times. "More so after the huge $1.2 billion tab that the taxpayers will be picking up for the two summits." Seems like a lack of concern about taxpayer supplied funds? but I have never seen a politician yet that didn`t think they were worth it? Hello Washington? Ottawa? learn from this? Hold meetings in other countries? Let them pick up the tab? HMMM? hordes of politicians bring out hordes of angry protesters? who would have thought that could happen?
  20. Night fishing can be a challenge in some areas. I fished the Pointe Au Baril area of the G/B at night, by shore and boat. I can`t say that I would recommend any one wandering around in a boat there at night that isn`t real familiar with the area, just too many rocks in the water. Although I was comfortable venturing out at night I had one speed, slow! and I stuck with areas I knew were pretty much safe boating water, any doubts and it was the electric motor and a spotlight. The lures mentioned will work at night, the Jitterbug is like my all time favorite night time surface lure, but at times others produce better. An unweighted plastic worm or lizard, a 4/0 or 5/0 hook gives them enough weight to sink slowly and you can slither them through the weeds. Load on some weight and punch thru to open water below, a fairly heavy jig and pig will also work at night in moderately heavy weeds. Resign yourself to the fact you may spend some time clearing weeds from your line or lure, even so call weedless lures can pick up some. A buzzbait is another good nightime lure.
  21. LOL great! all those fish that I hooked in Lake Erie and never saw must have been Muskies! They couldn`t have been carp or sheephead! Nice job Fish! and nice to be in a boat for the follow?
  22. You could always ask a Chinese bank to float you a loan? They do it for the government.
  23. It was on the news here in Ohio also, lol since Stevie (PigeonFisher) slimmed down and moved south we can`t blame it on him falling? Some huge salt mines under the Great Lakes, and with the disaster in the gulf I have to wonder, what happens if a quake fractures the roof of one of them? It would be sort of nice to see the great lakes stay freshwater? LOL I am sure they have an emergency plan? Too like save the Walruses?
  24. My first were a pair of these http://cgi.ebay.com/SHIMANO-BANTAM-MAG-PLUS-BMP-251XSG-LEFT-HANDED-REEL_W0QQitemZ190407893398QQcategoryZ108153QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp4340.m263QQ_trkparmsZalgo%3DSIC%26its%3DI%252BC%26itu%3DUCI%252BIA%252BUA%252BFICS%252BUFI%252BDDSIC%26otn%3D20%26pmod%3D280523205246%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D7606397852895921046 Still have them, er, and others.
  25. If you are fishing a lake you have fished before? Go to where you have caught fish before! There is usually a reason they frequent a "spot". Bass may move in close to shore at night to feed, or perhaps to avoid being a snack for larger predatory fish, pike or ski`s. Start shallow, work deeper, unless you know a "spot". Noisy surface lures early? Ya works sometimes, not always the best way to go though, sometimes a quiet approach is the best one. Pitch a texas rigged lizard right up to the bank and work it deeper, lateral lines, they can feel it coming, day or night. Don`t get stuck on one lure because you think it is the right lure for the day, area. Don`t get stuck on fishing one water depth, I have caught L/M deep (15-20 feet) and S/M shallow (1-5 feet) when there was no apparent reason for them to be there. Have a great day! fish or no fish, it beats working!
