The whole time I was there watching you and your dad I was actually envious......wishing that someday I could share that same experience with my dad ( not that Mike's a bad guy...hehehe). Your dad is really a trooper for sure.....10-14 hours in a boat EVERY day....I was impressed I actually called my dad when I got back to entertain him with the thought of a fly-in for next year....just maybe!!! Not to steal your thread but here's a couple of other photos as well....scenery

No...not yet...too much fun catching my 1st walleye and then 10 more.....it was nice to figure the walleye thing out for the first time and the best part about it all........was that it about a 30 second boat ride from the trailer.

Sorry to hear about your loss.....it probably doesn't help to hear it now.....but it will get better in time....just think of all the good times. I know exactly how you feel after having to put down 2 cats in the last 3 years...it sucks......but if it hadn't happened I wouldn't have had the chance to rescue 3 more cats from shelters and give them a very loving home. Keep your chin up Jason

One morning, the husband returns the boat to their lakeside cottage after several hours of fishing and decides to take a nap. Although not familiar with the lake, the wife decides to take the boat out. She motors out a short distance, anchors, puts her feet up, and begins to read her book. The peace and solitude are magnificent. Along comes a Fish and Game Warden in his boat. He pulls up alongside the woman and says, 'Good morning, Ma'am. What are you doing?' 'Reading a book,' she replies, (thinking, 'Isn't that obvious?') 'You're in a Restricted Fishing Area,' he informs her. 'I'm sorry, officer, but I'm not fishing. I'm reading.' 'Yes, but I see you have all the equipment. For all I know you could start at any moment. I'll have to take you in and write you up.' 'If you do that, I'll have to charge you with sexual assault,' says the woman. 'But I haven't even touched you,' says the Game Warden. 'That's true, but you have all the equipment. For all I know you could start at any moment.' 'Have a nice day ma'am,' and he left.

Nice report Mike.....looks like a great time had by all. What kind of cortisone cream did you use? I'm very intrigued because the swelling went down so fast. Jason -
Well my wife and I finally bought our first new vehicle together.......been so busy this summer with the house.....new projects. Unfortunately I've only gone fishing 3 times all year ....next summer should be different going to northern Quebec or Labrador for 3-4 weeks!! Our new Suzuki Grand Vitara V6-JLX Our new cat enclosure which the cats love!!! And the new pond which is how we spent Canada Day and several days after.....solid clay Had to use the jack hammer to bring it down 40" so the gold fish can survive the winter freeze.

I just got back from 150KM north of Cochrane on Saturday, water levels dropped drastically in the 9 days I was there. NO black flies and only a couple of mosquitoes, but if you get some hot weather they won't take long to show up in HOARDS!!!!! Water temperature went from 39 to 58 in 9 days....awesome fishing as always. Cheers Jason

Well as I sit here thinking about this past week, it has been very trying to say the least. Last weekend I had the pleasure of finally meeting the one and only Solopaddler for a few days of fishing up north at his cottage. Thanks Mike, I really enjoyed our adventures. This week has been rough on my spirit....during the return home on Saturday from Solopaddlers cottage I received a call that my grandfather past away and unfortunately I couldn't attend the funeral back on the rock. Sunday morning I awoke to call a good friend of mine to share the news about my grandfather and and he informs me that a very good friend of ours past away on Saturday, I'm still in shock about the whole thing. Yesterday I brought my van to the garage because I had a headlight out, only to find out that I was extremely low of coolant and the rad was toast along with the head gasket . Man...I tell ya...when it rains it pours!!! Sometimes I need to remind myself how fortunate I am, I have my sanity, health, job, house, wife and alot of good people in my life today, just so much to be grateful about. I'm leaving for Northeastern Ontario for 10 days tonight to go fishing and clear my head.....I'll post a report of some monster pike when I get back (hopefully) Here's my first pike of the year.....decent fish. Cheers Jason

Simply awesome Mike.... .....It's not always about the fish, half the fun is getting there and getting back. I guess I should start training for the portages..!!! Jason P.S. Who's carrying the tent? -
I work in the residential construction field over seeing 800-1000 homes (After Closing Date).....and you couldn't pay me a take a brand new home from a builder who constructs more than 30-40 home a year. The old saying goes "They don't build them like the use to" is so true today. The CHEAPEST materials are used for EVERYTHING......and if you don't want standard, they charge you 3X the cost for upgrades....... A new home will settle in the first 2 years....leaving settlement cracks in your basement floor, garage floor, foundation walls, drywall cracks and nail-pops which are NOT covered by Tarion (Ontario homeowners Warranty). When you buy your home you must pay for TARION, it's kind of the taking your car to GM because you have a warranty, but when you get there they tell you it's not covered by the warranty. I could go on....and on... and on.... it could write a book about all the BAD stuff I've seen over the years. P.S.-If you do buy from a builder and there are people from the same builder already leaving in the sub-division.......go knock on their door and ask them about after service.....you will find out REAL QUICK if the builder is GOOD or BAD
