I have NEVER said anything negative before on ANY board and I hate to rant, but.......... I realise that I DO NOT own the river, or the spot for that matter. However a little fishing etiquette (respect for other anglers) on your part would be greatly appreciated in the future. We both know that fish hold in that ENTIRE stretch of river, you could probably put 50-60 anglers one one side of that river........why is it that you and your friend choose to fish so close when there is over 500ft of shoreline? You guys simply walked up, and through your lines in right where we were fishing like we never even existed. You impeded on my drift on several occasions. You were that close that if I set the hook to the left I would have hit you. As you say....." Lots of room to fish down there and I didnt have any idea I was intruding on your space? kinda limited room to cast from there but an ample amount fo water." You have to remeber there is MAYBE 15' of land to cast to that spot. I dont see it as greasing at all when there is a good 120' of water to drift...not like its shoulder to shoulder" These are your words, exact same situation on 2 different days with 2 different people. Limited room to cast? Come on man, there's an entire section of river. I can't speak for others, only myself. Maybe a simple hello, how's it going......do you mind if we fish here....would go along way. Listen man, just have a little respect for others on the river, treat other's like you would like to be treated. As for the pics.......if you can recognize the river and the spot from the pics then you have already been there before. I'll be down there all day Wednesday if you would like to join me. Enough about that.....I've been working on some new custom handpoured baits lately....what do you think? Jason

I actually used silicone for mine on both ends. With a little patience it comes off easy enough and guaranteed not to leak. Jason

I found this on another board......Anybody hear about this guy.....Mike Lazurus? Quoted Thats is the greatest musky fisherman alive, thers not even a close second, you'll be lucky to ever see an other picture buy this guy on the internet. He never exposes pictures unless your in his boat, and getting in his boat is almost imposible. I was shocked to see this one on the other site. i've only heard about him, but i've heard the same thing...he doesn't need to PIMP himself on the internet.... He has american clients who book him up years in advance.... If there is an angler who has a legend and respect among the hardcore anglers, its Lazurus. What I know of Laz is that he has something like 12-14 main clients a year, they fish the same weeks that they book year after year, if you cant make it, theres an opening and he'll call you for that fill in, but theres a catch.....theres piles of guys in line waiting to get out with him so the odds of you getting out are very, very slim. The last I heard he was charging $600 a day, but worth every single penny, If you ever see a picture with Ed Barbosa in it holding cows and a grey/blue ranger, there with Laz almost 95% of the time. It does not matter where he fishes G-bay, the Ottawa, The Larry he puts you on fish all the time, if anybody has figurd out the musky secret its Laz. The ones who know him know what Im talking about, hes a machine, I would love to see this guy write a book. just for an info.he has 386 musky last year.... and more then 5000musky under is belt... some numbers.wow..but he wont brag about the numbers here. and dont think you will fish wit him.if my source are good..no locals people only american....about local people gething is spot and so on...smart move. suposely just the best in the world. for musky. there is a great article on him in sentier chasse et peche...i think it was oct 2007...the nu bers are in there..386...mabe even more if my mind is playing.. That's a monster.....how much do you figure it weighs? 40-50lbs maybe??? Jason

A couple of weeks ago I was fortunate to get out to enjoy some steelheading with a good friend of mine (Fishtat2) for the morning. We managed a few fish so here's a couple of pics. All fish released Jason

I had my eye examination yesterday....and I would like to buy a pair of PRESCRIPTION fishing glasses. Does anyone out there own a pair? Is it worth the money? Hakim Optical had a VERY limited amount of options....basically they have Bolle frames with the prescription clipped on....with only brown polarized lens. I'm looking for grey or amber lenses if possible. Jason

Unfortunatlely last night we had to put down our lovable Magic due to medical reasons. It has been a very hard week for my fiancee and myself, life just seems so unfair. The poor little guy was only 9 months old, and provided us with lots of love and laughs. We couldn't stand to see him so ill (VIP) and had to do the humane thing last night at 12:45 A.M. May You Now Rest In Peace

Happy Birthday Cliff....see you soon. Jason

Hummingbirds, Porcupine encounters and stuff..
Basskicker replied to danc's topic in General Discussion
Hey Dan, real nice pics. A word of advice on the porcupine quills. MAKE SURE you get every last one.....infection can set in. My buddies dog nearly had to be put down, he didn't remove ALL of them and the dog ended up with a serious infection. A hard lesson learned for both parties and COSTLY when he got the bill from the vet. Better safe then sorry. Jason -
Hey Sinker, I only made it up as far as Daniels Harbour.....planned on sneaking into one of the brookie ponds I once visited as a kid, but unfortunately I didn't have the time and the weather was simply horrible. It rained every day for the last 8 days I was there.....there's a old saying 'If you don't like the weather, wait 10 minutes, It'll change' Fish Farmer, actually I flew down (direct flight) into my home town Stephenville and rented a vehicle. It's cheaper to fly then drive during the summer months.....but then you miss out on the ferry. Quite an experience when the seas get rough. And yes, the hospitality of Newfoundlander's is unbeatable!!! Jason

Thanks guys....hey Johnny Bass....I believe they charge $30/Day per person, unless you only have 2 people....then it's $35/Day. It's not a luxury cabin, but more then adequate for a bunch of guys going fishing....our cabin could sleep 7, full kitchen, toilet and sink, barbecue (bring your our tank)....etc. P.M me if you want more details. Well I just got back from the 'Rock'.....spent 2 weeks there. Simply amazing....I forgot how beautiful this place was. My sister got married so it was pretty hectic the first 5 days. After all the chaos of the wedding my fiancee and myself left for the Northern Peninsula of Newfoundland for some sight seeing. The scenery is absolutely breath taking....the pictures don't do any justice. Newfoundland scenery is so diverse depending on which part of the Rock you visit. There are so many moose in Newfoundland that it's dangerous to be driving at night. The first night away we stayed at a beautiful lodge at Big Falls (salmon river) Unfortunately you need a guide to fish the salmon rivers in Newfoundland (very costly) so I didn't do any salmon fishing, but we saw several fish jumping at the falls....pretty cool. The second night we stayed at a small B&B in Rocky Harbour and went to the hotel for some Newfoundland entertainment and music. Some more beautiful scenery along the way. The next morning we went on a boat tour for 2 1/2 hours into an inland fjord. Definately the highlite of our trip. I took 291 pictures of our trip.....so I don't want to bore you with so many, but here some pics from the rest of our trip. These are from the Grand Lake area....my old stomping grounds. I wanted to show my fiancee some of the back country that are not in the tourist guide books I have so many pics.....but that's enough. If you ever have the opportunity to visit the Rock....go for it...you won't be disappointed. Jason

Well it's been a long time since I've posted anything....I've been away of holidays for the last 3 weeks.....the first week my fiancee and myself spent at Bayview Resort. The cabin was relatively nice and cheap, but the owners were very accomodating. I highly recommend this place in Hay Bay. Anyways I did a bit of fishing a managed quite a few fish....lots of bass, pike and I even caught a bowfin. Unfortunately I didn't take more pictures.... Jason

Maiden voyage of our new (used) canoe.
Basskicker replied to ccmtcanada's topic in General Discussion
Well Cliff...that certainly didn't take long.....couldn't even wait 1 day eh?......2 hours later and your catching fish. I'm really glad that you guys had a great time. I have to admit you two look perfect in the canoe, except for Carole NOT wearing a life jacket. P.S.- After seeing you two enjoying yourself so much, and knowing how hard you guys work to catch fish and enjoy the great outdoors......you can have HAVE the canoe for ever...it's yours for LIFE. Enjoy and be safe Jason -
I usually never ask for help...however next Friday I'm leaving for Norcan Lake with my fiancee for our only fishing trip of the year. Last year we made several trips together, but due to our different work schedules it hasn't worked out this year. I have never been there...so I looking for some information. We plan on camping somewhere on the lake (crown land). Have anyone ever been there....or camped on the lake? How is the boat launch and where? Any pointers or general locations as to where to catch some bass? Any help would be greatly appreciated....I'm a little nervous about driving 4 hours to only find out that I am unable to launch my boat with my mini-van and no where to set up camp for 5 days!!! PM me if you'd feel more comfortable....thanks Jason

Thanks Guys....it was a real treat fishing with Cliff once again. He's certainly a natural....within the first hour he was skipping my Senkos under the docks like a pro. Looking forward to getting out with you again Cliff. Jason
