The prison Farm was at "Burwash" about 20 km south of Sudbury and Espanola is about 50km west of sudbury of Hwy 17. Espanola has NEVER had a prison. As for the homeless. when I lived in Scarborough we had a couple of 'local' homeless people. They realy have mental health issues and are heavy alcohol and/or drug users. They are expert con artists. We had one guy named"Wayne" that used to work on Bay street until he literately snapped. His family lives in a posh house in West Hill and he won't have anything to do with them. Wayne would have a nice scam every Christmas season. First he would take his shoes off and stand by the local variety store looting unkempt and disoriented. Every time a customer would walk to the entrance Wayne would intercept the 'mark' by slowly and deliberately taking his hands out of his coat pocket where a very old crumpled 5 dollar bill would fall at the marks's feet. Wayne would pretend he didn't notice and he would thank the mark for the donation( ha ha). A few minutes later the mark would exit the store and hand Wayne some money. Once the mark was far enough away Wayne reached into the other pocket and pulled out a huge wad of money and added this to his donation. I was in a parked car near all this watching as I waited for a friend to finish her shopping. I watched Wayne score every time. He must have made $200 in less than 30 minutes. Each morning Wayne would walk down the middle of Kingston Rd to get to the LCBO when it opened. My Nephew goes to U of T and is paying his own way the best he can by doing virtually and summer job(s) he can get. Last year he shared an apartment with 3 other students. They were regular 'homeless' young guys that worked the downtown core in the summer and weekend during the year when they needed money to party. My nephew moved out as these guys did a lot of shay things but he told me that they even had there begging clothes in garbage bags because it stank so bad. These guys managed to to afford a car and nice clothes and they ate in decent restaurants. All they did for a living was beg on the streets. Then there is the story of the shaky pencil lady that was loaded and lived in Oakvile. I fell for the mentally ill ones as they can't handle the reality any more, but all they really want is money for booze and/or drugs. The scam artists I don't feel for at all. These are just parasites looking for a free ride. I have a lot more respect for the guy playing his guitar in the subway. At least he is working at it. I always offer to get them something from a food vender rather than cash. In over 36 years I've ALWAYS been refused.

"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." (Edmund Burke) Vigilance and information are the keys to defeating this cancer. A strong law enforcement aimed directly at these lunatics is a must. Mistakes will be made in combating this threat. It has been here for a very long time but we choose to look the other way. It was always 'over there' now it's here. Report what you see and what you hear to CSIS. Muddler

Class act by Pittsburg. I just became a Penquin's fan. I still cannot believe the events in Ottawa. Absolutely disgraceful. We must stay vigilant and watch for the enemy within. muddler

Wow Montreal was down 3-0 and won in a shootout. and........ Ottawa wins in a shootout too. I'm not too excited, it's only the first week. We'll see the real season unfold in a couple of weeks when everybody settles down. muddler
-
Now that was funny!

I wouldn't get too excited over the first couple of weeks of the season yet for any team. Most teams are still feeling their oats, sort of speak. Near the end of October we'll all see the basic trend of every team and the adjustments that they will be making. One of my favourite times of the year in hockey. muddler

How did you come up with your forum handle here? NF, maybe.

First fly I ever used for brook trout on the west branch of the Spanish River was a muddler minnow. First fly I made while fly tying was a muddler. First fly that caught a fish that I made was a muddler. Since them I've muddled(pun intended) around with fishing stuff for over 55 tears. Build my own rods for over 45 years now. Tie all my own flies and make my own furled leader. Made worm harnesses and poured my own plastics and jigs for over 40 years. Passing all my stuff to my son and daughter-both avid fishermen. Figure I'll muddle along with more stuff in the future. -
Well done LA.

Switched from Bell in 1993. Never will I go back. When I moved back up north 6 years ago, Bell was the only game in town for a land line. I got the internet up and running in 3 days and and bought a MagiucJack because there was a three month waiting period. No thanks Bell, still using magic jack for $30 a year. muddler.

At this time of the year you cant't predict 100% what species will be at a specific spot for certain. I've been to my favourite spot that I have fished for over 55 years and I have caught more Out of Season bass that ever. Yesterday I caught a bunch of pike and finally one walleye. This spot produces walleye consistently. You can't force a species to be there if it's not there. Different species move to this spot under different conditions. Water temperature, weather and time of day will ofter dictate what will be actively hitting at that time. Keep at it and enjoy each species. muddler

It doesn't get any better than this. My two favourite teams face each other. Although I'm a Bruin fan first and a Canadiens' fan second, either team going to the next round will be great. I love this time of the year, An trout opener on top. muddler

Unbelievable! There are a lot more people like that than you might think. It's ONLY about them! Narcissistic personality disorder? Muddler

I agree with VXP 100%. Look around carefully and you will find undercut banks and deep spots around fallen logs and debris. These will hold active fish that have already spawned. These spots are harder to fish but produce almost all the time. Enjoy the fish that are spawning by watching nature in action. This will be the fish stock in the following years. muddler

What does the idiot that 'forgot' to do his job get? I agree with Joey. He seem st have rehabilitated without the states prison system. But it's Missouri not Canada. muddler

I didn't sense any anger except from you.I don't think Kadri could beat up my mother in law and she's 92, unless he hit her from behind or punched her with a stick in his hand. It's not Laffs haters, it's the propaganda that the Laffs fans heap on the rest of us real hockey fans. Laff fans ego bruise so easily. And that sonny is very easy to do, at least for the last 47 years.

I was looking around and I saw this reel. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Fly-Fishing-Raft-Fishing-Reel-Ratio-3-1-3-1BB-/371030772822?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5663284c56 It seem a little odd. Has anyone ever used one? I can't see it used for fly fishing as the handle would probably catch any loose fly line. Muddler
