awsome im going tonight.after seeing ccmt report cant let him and bly have all the fun.been out a few times earlier this season but seems like theres more fish now.iv already tossed away 30 bucks in cleos on snags and one on a fish but hey thats salmon fishing.

to early in a few weeks it should start.

i prefer heavier tackle unless im finnesse fishing i use medium heavy or heavy action i dont like whippy rods.a medium heavy spinning outfit is a good all round combo.for pike or muskie i would go with a 7ft heavy action rod and baitcaster reel spoooled with at least 14lb test.i own 3 shimano rods and they have been very sensitive and durable.i also own a few berkley rods very durable.last year i got a bass pro rod for free and this has proven itself over the course of a season.got a st chroix yesterday seems very nice cant wait to test it.as for reels u cant go wrong with shimano.ive owned quite a few and still use some over 10yrs old extremely durable.not a big fan of quantum i own 2 and both have quirks.this past spring started using some pfluger reels i must say im very impressed lots of bang for the buck,not overly expensive.the president baitcaster and spinning reel.

if u dont use a swivel u get mega line twist if u hook one without a swivel the line will snap because the edges on that hole are rough found that out the hard way ice fishing many moons ago

my last post on this was removed sorry if i offended anyone i was just venting,this subject is a little touchy for me.

looks like ill be getting the maxum cable steer.was leaning that way until this weekend and a few guys from the lodge tournament were talking smack about the foot control and giving props to the pd.ive used my friends maxum 55 many times its great in calm water the only thing i dont like is when the juice is on constant and you try to hold or hover in wind.i found u have to keep your foot on the control and constantly adjust it.can u tighten the cables so thier less sensitive? as so u can take your foot off but still have it running and stay straight?p.s thanks for the feed back i love this site cheers and good fishing.

nice ski.i caught my biggest ski in gin clear water less than 3ft deep.

ive used the cable steer and the lift and deploy rope is easy and fast but i find it to be alot of work and uncomfortable to constantly have your foot on the pedal if u let your foot off in the wind your motor swings out on you.

which model do you prefer heel toe cable steer or powerdrive.what are the pros and cons.also your thoughts on universal sonar and autopilot.
