  1. You did a great job on that stand and the casters are a great addition. Last year I found myself in a similar position and was about to build one with wood, but the company I work for sell janitorial equipment including carts. They were getting ready to throw out some older stock, so I requested one, took it home and with few modifications, had an instant motor stand. I've also seen pictures on the web of modified grocery carts but they don't look nearly as nice as what you've built.
  2. Agreed....apology was not necessary but appreciated. My response was more so a result of the cracks made over the years through the media. I used Saint Louis da HahA, PQ only because I get a kick each time I pass the roadside signs on the TransCanada highway on my way to Saint John, NB.
  3. That would be a welcome change!
  4. I've been commuting from Stoney Creek to Mississauga for 15 years now. First of all I want to say snow tires do squat for you on icy roads. The benefit is in deep snow. Secondly, and it is rare that I defend the city of Toronto or Mel Lastman, but when you have a city that contributes to the Canadian economy, employs more people than any other in the country and has the highest volume of traffic in the country, much is lost when people can't make it to the office not to mention the need for emergency vehicles to get around. I think it was justified to call in the army to help clear the snow. It's not like it can be pushed onto sidewalks or boulevards, it needed to be removed. You get a foot of snow in St Louis de HaHa, PQ and it's just another winter's day. In the city of Toronto, it's a different story. Look forward to your responses!
  5. Word of warning TJ....make sure you've got your panties on before stepping out of the limo at the next meet 'n' greet.
  6. Not necessarily! I might just REALLY, REALLY like beer! I was told a long time ago an alcoholic will not go to sleep as long as there is alcohol left in the house!
  7. Thanks for the well wishes and yes I agree, a PM would be more appropriate. Thanks for the link Roy. Thanks Holdfast for the info and your contributions to our freedoms.
  8. My stepson has just been accepted into the armed forces and wants to be a Combat Engineer. He'll be called any day now to begin his basic training. Any insight into the role of a combat engineer?
  9. This law is much like the seatbelt law. It's there to protect children from parents without enough sense to protect their own. I've heard opinions like this from other smokers and it all boils down to one thing.....you're hooked..badly and wil say anything to justify it.
  10. Thanks to everyone for your feedack. HG
  11. Can any of you refer me to a reputible veternarian in the Stoney Creek area? I have a 9 year old yellow lab retired 2 years ago from from field trials, with a bad limp in her left hind leg that needs to be cared for asap. Thanks
  12. Nate, Over the past week I have read many threads that turn into pi$$ing matches and the common denominator has been your involvement. Rather than, just going away, why don't you stick around, try to co-operate and you'd be surprised at what you can learn from this great bunch on OFNers.
  13. Love this one of my wife and daughter from Pickerel Park on Hay Bay in 2004 Does this qualify if there are actually no fish in the picture?
  14. Thank you for all the responses (and the PM JohnF). I've seen this happen in numerous communities in Southern Ontario. Builders break ground and many of the existing homes have for sale signs soon afterward. Not looking for reasons for specific neighbourhoods. More or less a general observation and I'm sure there could be multiple reasons. Thanks again. HG
  15. I know what's causing your exhaustion.....it's called parenthood! I'm sure Ohiofisherman would have some valuable input here.
  16. I posted this question on a real estate message board but the traffic pales in comparison to this site and I value the opinions of the members of this board so thought I's post it here as well. I live in a community that is roughly 400 new homes in an area that was previously farm land but a few older homes as well. Numerous subdivisions are being built within this area. I am curious to know how this affects the property values of these older homes. Often i see these older homes up for sale as these communities begin to develop. Is it a case of the owners not wanting to live in the middle of a construction zone or are they cashing in on the increasing property values or are their property values declining because their older and often smaller homes are an eyesore amongst the new neighbouring homes? Your thoughts? HG
  17. That's hilarious! Just my 2 cents.....not all, but many species break the surface and jump much higher than the height Chrozy is releasing them from. Is he really doing that much harm? And if we are all so concerned for the well being of the fish, perhaps we should stop fishing. Having said that, not all species can survive a rough release and it takes little effort to release them more gracefully to increase chances of survival. Arguments like this just divide us and give fodder to the likes of P3TA.
  18. Make sure when you test the battery voltage you have a load applied such as running the trolling motor or a bilge pump (something with sufficient amp draw.... lights aren't enough). This will give you a true indication of the status of your battery. With no load your only getting a "surface" voltage and even bad batteries can sometimes read 12V. Typically a fully charged battery should be around 13.0V under load. A discharged battery will measure 12.0V or under. Batteries significantly under 12.0V will sulfate and have very little run time.
  19. Wishing you a speedy recovery and less pain going forward. My wife has the same condition and it's amazing how drastic it affects one's daily routine and ability to perform the simplest tasks. I too have suffered from back pain since I was 16 only I think mine is of a different nature. I have to keep moving and sleeping any longer than 6 hours results in terrible pain. My point is, if you've never suffered through chronic back pain, it's difficult to understand just how frustrating it can be. The previous injections you referred to, was that a facet block?
  20. Wow 6 muskie in one day! Unbelievable! As for that last pic.......I've never seen anyone so unhappy to catch a muskie!
  21. Wow you guys don't waste any time granting wishes. Now how about world peace? Ahhh Nevermind!
  22. nice lookin fish! That 1st pic is great how it shos your reflection.
  23. Bought my boat from a friend 5 years ago. He named it "Duurdy" Just an adjective he likes to use. I haven't changed it
  24. I tradionally settle for the "less expensive" with most of my purchases fishing or otherwise but back in the spring treated myself to the Sealine 49LC. Made this decision after feedback from OFC members. Finally got to try it out a few weeks ago. No fish so it's difficult to judge it's performance but it seemed quite smooth.
  25. Pm Sent Option 2 sounds like a good idea as well. I'm in a new neighbourhood so it's a possibility.
