  1. Rock, maybe a PT gig at a local/larger tackle shop would be a start. Then you can meet some of the current tackle reps and start a business relationship. Sounds like you already know, but its's a tough egg to crack. You can also contact the various distibution companies that rep certain products/companies in Canada as they are sometimes looking for sales reps. Good Luck.
  2. I love fishing this time of year with the boards, not a huge fan of downrigging but do it when I can. However my bro loves it.
  3. The conservatiion authority would be ones to contact. They would have to approve any construction long before it even begins with an environmental assestment on waterfront properties. If the home owner did not do so, I understand the fines can be quite heavy. or as troutologist said!
  4. Hey bud, you'll get into some bass too. Especially when the sun's high and along the north/west shores. Get those snot rockets outta Balsam!
  5. Ted - Costco Kirkland Batteries! Used them for years. Turned on to them by a fellow T angler who is some sort of engineer and researches absolutely everything to the fullest extent. Combined with a good charger I have never had issues with them. Phil
  6. Hey Weeds, I'll try and explain how I personally do it. I have 2 techniques: 1. side arm underhand roll cast - both hands on the rod and making a counter clockwise circle, releasing the bait so it skims a few inches above the water. This takes some practice to get the timing and feathering of the spool down pat. 2. this is going to be harder to explain, one day I just started doing this. Hold the bait as if you are going to pitch it. I start the rod at 9 o'clock (rod in right hand) and swing it over to 3 o'clock at the same time releasing the bait and feathering the spool. Hard to explain, anyways, the bait will curl in from left to right skimming the top of the water. Amazing technique for getting up under thick trees and the side/back of docks. Both techniques the magnets are almost completely off relying on the thumb to control the spool. I hope the above makes sense and ya can picture it. Phil
  7. If I won the lottery that would be my boat! I had an older 620, LOVED it.
  8. hahah "Professional Override" and for me, it always shows it's face when a camera boat appears or the perfect cast is linded up! I know personally there is usually one rod/reel in the rod locker after each tournament with a "professional override" that isn't worth even trying to get out til after weigh-in. Truth to why T anlgers have so many rods on deck! Tons of great tips here! I used the tip Terry mentioned 20 years ago when got my first low profile baitcaster. One other little tidbit... like a golf or baseball swing - don't try and kill it! Fliud motion is key. Don't give up, it all comes with practice. Soon you'll be able to side cast and skip under trees and docks with a baitcaster.
  9. Kijiji, is great as long as you can read and spell it right. Sold alot on it, everything from the Mrs' wedding dress, kids toys, and left over hardwood flooring.
  10. I have never seen nor heard of pike in Buckhorn, Chemong, Rice, Sturgeon, Pigeon or Scugog. However Balsam, Mitchell and Canal lakes have them. As mentioned above Crowe is loaded too, to bad as it used to be an awesome Muskie lake, including a good tiger population. I am afraid soon enough they'll spread to the rest of the Kawarthas.
  11. I have used them before, however the rubber/plastic was solid. If these are hollow and your able to use a 1/16 or 1/32 regular tube jighead I would like to order a few dozen of these too!
  12. F-is-H, the loop knot is used mostly for body baits because is allows more action(wobble) to the lure as some mentioned above. Especially jerk baits. Sometimes called the rapala knot as it is recommended by them for majority of their baits (body style) One other application I use this knot for is Jigging spoons. Good Luck edit - just noticed the other question around strength. It is not as strong as the polymar, but about the same as the improved clinch. Spent sometime with a few other gents while working a show one year testing out various knots with the berkely knot tester.
  13. Ok, I am Lovin this one, do you take custom orders? If so, I would take a few of each in 3/4 and 1oz. No joke.
  14. Its a salmo I think. Looks like a mount too, no line attached.

  22. I used to sign a "permission" form to hunt a piece of private property. It actually was a tool I could use if I ran into other hunters who were tresspassing. It was also written that they were in no way liable for any injury or accident on their property. Added piece of mind for them.
  23. Great Job, thanks for posting and the heads up, we'll be out there Sat.
