  1. Thanks All! Fowlers Corners... great short cut. Seems like a long haul. I would hate having to go through Toronto too. I hate Ajax to Oshawa, it used to be Port Union to Ajax, they just keep moving the traffic east. I am on the hunt for something and I appreciate your replies. Phil
  2. Brian, your hearts in the right spot bud. I've used borrowed images myself. As for the Okuma Raw float reel. It is a great reel for the price point. In my opinion it is like the Siverado or F150, does the job well. Of cousre you can spend more and jump up to an Escalade or Platimun, but the Silverado will get the job done. Okuma does make products for other brands. They are working hard on their own branding now through research and developement and they're making huge strides in the freshwater market.
  3. Hi All, If you have a second, what route do you take to the Kawarthas (Chemong, Pigeon, Buckhorns, Balsam, Stoney, Crowe etc) Would it be safe to say most from the GTA and West take Hwy 401 to Hwy 115 North and then branch out from there to 35, 36, Hwy 7 etc..?
  4. Just theory but I think it may be a sign a fish is on its way out. I have seen Salmon in the fall do it while on their last leg.
  5. Arnts Landscape supply in Pickering/Whitby. You can bag your own, pretty cheap and clean. The free stuff you see is probably from guys re-doing old landscaping and need to get rid of it.
  6. Brian, looks like you found another new passion. Congrats.
  7. Just throwing this out, sometimes it is just a matter of finding the sweet spot between speed and trim. It is a new boat, you may just need to spend a bit more time dailing it in.
  8. I texpose rig them. Use a 4/0 riggin or preferably Owner J hook and either a nail or screw in a 1/16 weight.
  9. They are not new, but I tried them for the first time this spring and did well for pike with them. Will try them for bass here and there, but I am more a flip/pitch structure guy. Pike love them, no doubt about that. Outfished the other boats we were with more the once with it. Won't touch the politics involved in the ban, but knowing Andy (CSFL) I am sure he did not make the decision overnight.
  10. Cotton Cordell Super Spots, Bill Lewis rattle traps, and Rapala Rattlin Raps have all been great bass lures for me, especially the blue silver for smallies. They will catch anything! Pike love them too. I like the 3" My new favourites are the livetargets golden shiner and gizzards shads. Starting using them last year. Great for all species but also good through the ice
  11. Pm me, I know, I even had my tinfoil hat on and all. We should start a group. I remember you saying that before, glad you listened too. Better odds then the lottery or Lew smiling after catching a bass. Thanks Wizard, I will admit it has been a couple years since the first incident, I think I may of been a little complacent... Not anymore, especially with the lil ones. Good advice.
  12. Ok, old thread I know... But, took my lil one down to another spot on the Lake O shoreline in Bowmanville on Saturday for some panfish. Far enough away from the spot I was when I got bit earlier in this thread. Well, it looks like fire ants have invaded the whole shoreline of Lake O - in Bowmanville any ways. I put my pack down to tie my shoe and it must of crawled on my pack and bit me in the arm. Off to the emerg again, it is confirmed I do have a reaction to the stings. And i was told many people do and most have no idea until it happens (like me). You will know when you get stung/bit by them, it feel like a hot needle burning your skin. That's it, Bowmanville shoreline is totally off limits for me in summer. Just a heads up if you fish the area.
  13. Not sure the wining weights but I was told last night it was won by Dan Risorto and Jeff Salazar of Durham Region. I would guess probably 20lbs or so won it, tough fishing with the slot in a tournie format. This is the Canada/US walleye T which returned this year held by the Bobcaygeon Chamber of Commerce. There was over 110 boats from what I was told. I fished it 10 or so years ago and will again next year.
  14. Ha, that was priceless, great laugh to start the day. Thanks for that.
  15. I put one on the center seat too so you can sit on the deck and have a close up to show baits etc. Mix these gopro shots with a hand HD cam and you got some cool videos!
  16. Really looking forward to watching this show. I reserve myself to watch a couple shows at a time. Right now it's Game of Thrones and Mad Men. No spoilers on the Hatfields & McCoys though please.
  17. Just came across this, wonder if you'd have any pull as the manager to let some kids fish? http://www.cobourg.ca/images/stories/docs/HR/ManagerMarina2012.pdf
  18. Must be pretty awesome to sit on your deck with a coffee and absorb everything your new lifestyle has given you on a day like today. I assume this is why you picked "Dryden"?
  19. Skunked - focusing all your efforts using lures, techniques and fishing high percentage areas(structure) for one specefic species and coming up empty handed. i.e if your in a bass tournament and catch lots of walleye but have no bass to weigh, your skunked. "Lewski and I got skunked yesterday for Muskie but he landed a giant largie"
