  1. gimmick...but i'll probably buy some to try out Tony
  2. Let's face it, we are all guilty of, at one time or another, not wearing our PFD's when just fishing. Sure most of us put one on when under way in a boat, but not when we're fishing... The auto-inflate models leave you no excuse not to wear it from the time you leave the dock until the time you return. Play safe out there! Tony
  3. BOAT - Break Out Another Thousand... SO TRUE! Good luck with your family vessel young_one! Tony
  4. Green Giant kernel corn right off the grocery store shelf! Or the lowly dew-worm can work well at this time of year Have fun! Tony
  5. That's awesome Wayne! Fisherman...may gobies eat your lures always Tony
  6. Is the site really bad today? If you're already working on it Rick, thank you! Tony
  7. For targetting the Steelhead in the river, you will want to use a typical 3-way rig with 3/4oz to get your offering down to the bottom, in the strike zone. Roe, Emerald Shiners, and artificial immitations of the aforementioned will be your ticket. For the Lake trout out at the bar you can use the same set-up, but shiners or artifical immitations of minnows in the 4" size should be ideal. You can also troll deep diving crankbaits and when they are ticking bottom (not dredging it) you will have an ideal presentation for the Lake trout. I would also recommend that you get a N.Y. State fishing license so that you can fish some of the better drifts in the river that fall on the U.S. side. Same with fishing at the Niagara Bar, you will want to be able to fish on the U.S. side as well. It is good piece of mind to abide by the U.S. regulations, the patrol boats down there are equipped with M16's! Tony
  8. No better way to assist a recovering walleye population than putting a write-up in the SUN about it That's a funny story Jedi with the 'lightning' rod. Tony
  9. I agree Terry, party on! What ever happened to the Labatt Blue petition a couple years ago that was calling for a long weekend in June!? Tony
  10. Louis, thank you for this information, and your continued efforts with CRAA and OFAH to be the watchdog for us anglers on issues such as this. All I can say is that I agree with you 100% in this statement: "In closing, it is our expressed belief that this legislation is politically motivated, to quote a famous politician “politics is perception” and on the eve of a provincial election this program is designed to scurry votes as a piece of legislation that on the outward appearance sounds fantastic but once analysis by stakeholders is completed it appears to be nothing more then a “feel good” bill that shows us the current government required platform targets for the up coming election. We reiterate that in principle we support the concept but believe this bill required major amendments in order to achieve its desired result" Our government will continue to use the Province's Natural Resources as the proverbial scapegoat to enhance their 'just-in-time' appeal to the public before an election. This makes me sick. Tony
  11. I could NEVER get bored of that! fish jumping 5 or 6 times, I love it when the Steelhead are that HOT and it only really happens that frequently at this time of year. What a great day! Cheers! Tony
  12. Just compare spec for spec when considering your purchase. Some of the guys mentioned wattage and that is important for sure, but don't just buy a Lowrance 'because'... if you know what I mean Lowrance has built a great reputation for themselves, but are not an industry leader when it comes to innovation or cutting edge technology. The speed at which technology becomes obsolete these days is rediculous, you want to make a purchase that will satsify your needs for years to come. P.S. Does anyone have an operational X-16 paper graph still in use or used paper rolls? I always thought a cool substitute for a wallpaper border would be the scrolls of paper generated by the graph Tony
  13. Ok...that does suck are you sure though?...Aaron has the Matrix as well and he has always run it in pixel mode, not Fish ID. I bought the 585c last year and have been very impressed for a mid-ranged sonar. There was nothing to compare it to from the Lowrance product lineat the time...Still is nothing in that price range from Lowrance that compares... I thought the FISH ID only sonars were limited to the very basic and cheap models... Tony
  14. I think that's the problem. Humminbird has a bad reputation from their 'Fish ID' model days. They actually have some very nice crystal clear colour units now, regardless if they come with the 'Fish ID' feature or not, that should always be turned OFF. Raymarine have some new digital sonars that are very crisp looking. Lowrance is all about the 'clutter' and 'fuzz' in my opinion.... Humminbird Clarity - fuzz removal Raymarine Digital - clarity Tony
  15. Here we go again Tony
  16. Ugh...why is it that so many people are so loyal to Lowrance? My belief that they are still riding their reputation from the days of the X16 paper graphs is true it appears. There are much better units available for the money than Lowrance folks, open your eyes a little bit. Tony
  17. Nothing worse than having them jump and show themselves to you like that. It is difficult when the water is that clear, the fish can see you almost as easily as you can see them. Do I sense a night report coming from you soon Scott? Tony
  18. Ummm....that's amazing!!! Way to go you two! I have never heard of that presentation nor would I have ever though to try it, just amazing. Do you have some kind of heavy debt that is owed to you by the fish gods or what?! 'Team Bliff!' comes through again with a stellar report (Bly + Cliff = Bliff hehe) Tony
  19. Wings -- Beer -- Fishing Stories = Success! Good job organizing Roger! I think it's going to be time soon for an Oakville Swill at the Firehall! mmm wings! Tony
