  1. Go look up an impellor kit for your motor online and see if there is a pic. They are tight to fit into the housing because they are actually larger than the housing. Before you place an impellor into the housing, the "fins (For lack of a better term) are typically straight and have to be bent with a twist in them to fit in there properly. While I agree that you probably have some obstruction in your tube, even though the impellor looks fine, doesn't mean it actually is. My old motor had a flush port so I just flushed the motor after every use when fishing in thick vegetation and it seemed to work fine. But if there is any doubt that the impellor needs to be replaced, you might as well do it as you have figured out it is pretty simple.
  2. Went last year but she's a long drive from Ottawa. I might go this year but I am waiting on a few buddies to confirm. Otherwise, I'll be up there in July anyway and can hit up the stores that sell what I went when I am there.
  3. I've never seen them listed as "on sale" (maybe Akrisoner will have more input on that) but Minnkota offers mail in rebates usually around this time every year.
  4. The pedal design on the Terrova is by far better than the Powerdrive. I could never get used to that pedal. The lift assist on the newer Terrova's as well as the better designed deployment mechanism make it worth the extra few dollars.
  5. Adam, Go on Facebook and look up a guy name Jamie Antoine from Cornwall. Not sure if he makes a swinging Jig head but he could at the very least point you in the right direction. I've bought quite a few items from him and his prices a great. Plus, he's an all around great guy.
  6. Akrisoner, I just went through this myself. Best bet is to go talk to a dealer that has a boat you are looking at and see what they can offer you. The amount varies from marina to marina but your credit score plays a large factor as well (obvious... I know). I was quoted anywhere between 3.98 to 9%. This was even before anyone looked at my credit score. It was based on market rates, the type of people that typically walk through their doors and of course, the boat I was looking at (new vs used). If you want to discuss this more, feel free to PM me.
  7. I don't believe in leader materials for frogging. No matter how much the leader (flouro or metal), it will mess with the action of the frog in some way shape or form. I have used 65lb braid for years and can maybe think of two times where I have lost a frog. Am I lucky? maybe.. but I very rarely use leaders on anything and have not lost many lures.
  8. Honestly, as long as the boat comes with 6awg wiring, it will literally be plug and play on the TM side. You will just need to complete the 24v setup in the battery compartment which may require a different breaker/fuse and a jumper to go between the positive on one battery and negative on the other. Congrats on the new ride.
  9. They have found the boater but they have not located the co angler yet.
  10. No different that buying a used one that was sent in for repair. As long as it works, I'd be alright with it.
  11. First, let's clear up some stuff here. The Terrova with Ipilot comes with a foot pedal and an Ipilot remote. The newest versions out have a spot lock button on the pedal as well as the feature on the remote. As far as I know, the Powerdrive has never come with a foot pedal when Ipilot is installed. Now, I will start by saying just get the Terrova. I have owned a Terrova (sold boat, bought a new one with an Ultrex) and loved it for what it was. Especially if you are planning on mounting this trolling motor on the new boat. My father still has a Powerdrive V1 and I have used a V2. neither had Ipilot installed. 70vs 80lb may not seem like a lot but the 80lb models have bigger motors in them which is apparent by the casings. The casing for the motor itself is 1 inch larger between the two motors. The foot pedal on the Powerdrive is not near as nice as the one on the Terrova. Plus, they have been plagued with problems in the V1 and V2 models where many customers do not get a very long lifespan out of the pedal. I also prefer the more classic design of the Terrova pedal (heel, toe use for turning with the power button at the top opposed to side to side and power button on the bottom). The newest Powerdrive seems to have a lift assist but the Terrova has always been easier to deploy and stow IMO. To me, with the differences I have listed above alone, it is more than enough to justify the price difference. If you are looking to save some money, the Powerdrive will do the job, but the Terrova will do it better any day of the week. More cost up front does not always mean a product is better but in this case, the more costly option is MUCH better. Good luck!
  12. Lol, lost a few over the years to that.
  13. Backed the boat into the water and kept wondering why it wouldn't come off the trailer and if it did, why it would just spin in one place. Didn't take long to figure out that I got distracted (had my young boy with one) and only took off the transom saver and one strap. The boat was still attached by one of the transom straps and that is why it was spinning. Luckily, my son wasn't old enough to realize what happened or I'd still be hearing about it.
  14. Hate to break the news to you but a $13.00 lure is on the cheap side these days. It should still hold up better than yours did but with Lucky craft in the $20 range and Megabass over $30 for a jerk bait, Rapala is on the lower end of the spectrum. And no matter how expensive the lure, there is always something that someone won't like about them.
  15. I don't have a subscription simply for the fact that I already know what I like and I buy new stuff to try all of the time. I view these types of subscriptions as great for 1, new people who are just getting into fishing or 2, people who like the idea of trying new stuff that they typically would not buy. If you already know what you like or how you like fishing, I do not see this as something that would benefit you.
  16. Honestly, whatever you are comfortable with is fine. As you can see from the variety of answers, it really doesn't matter. I take mine out and store inside the house and charge them once in a while. Local tackle shop pwner leaves his in and charging all winter. A buddy leaves his in and charges once in a while. What do we all have in common? Our batteries last 4-5 years before needing to be replaced. So it really doesn't make any difference. Just pick something you are comfortable with.
  17. That is correct. If you lock at Chaffey's, you will be able to access all of those for sure. I think Indian and Newboro get most of the attention though. I fished Clear once and it was alright.
  18. I would echo Murphy's point. If you do not want to launch the boat every day, you may be able to rent a slip at Rideau Ferry Harbour. its not necessarily the best option but Big Rideau is huge and you would have a lot of water to play in. The Newboro area is the only one of the list I can say I have actually fished but you can acess quite a few lakes without locking around there. Opinicon gets pretty good reviews as well.
  19. Congrats on the Pflueger Supreme XT. It is a wicked reel. Dad has had his for at least 4 years and still loves it. He doesn't maintain it at all and it is still going strong. I will say though I doubt he uses it the same way we do. I was extremely impressed with it when he bought it (well, I picked it out for him) and to this day, it is still smooth as silk. I just prefer my stradics.
  20. AKRISONER, The first person who recommended the Stradic said used but porkpie is correct. I've seen the old stock CI4's go for under $200 anytime they come out with a new model. The new ones are not that cheap though and that is why I recommended something else. As for the OP, I have sent you a PM.
  21. The stradic is all I own. an original CI4 and the newest CI4+. Both are great reels but the original is a lot lighter. If you can fund a used one in your price range, you could always send it out for a cleaning and Shimano will replace any worn pieces while in there. If you are looking for new, I bought my father a Pflueger Supreme XT a few years ago and it is really nice to use as well. He loves it and the few times I've used it, I can't complain either.
  22. That's a rendering. Not what Tesla is coming out with but I will say it is probably close to correct with the front end.
  23. I can see it happening but I've always picked them out as soon as they happen. Some are just a pull on the line until it looks good on the spool which would probably come out with a few casts though.
  24. Jimmer, You can bring it into Apple but I am pretty sure they won't support that device. It dropped off their radar last year. With the expected release of the 7S shortly, I imagine the 4s will be on the chopping block shortly as well. 6.1GB used is more than likely normal. The biggest issue is that when the 4 originally came out, the 8g was just big enough for the operating system and a few apps/pics to be used/taken. With every single update to the ios, the software size grew to accommodate our ever growing requirements from our phones. I always bought the 16G model just to be safe but the IOS has grown so large that it is now over 5G if I remember correctly. They don't even make the 16G anymore because they even realize it is too small now. Having said that, you should be able to save more than a few pics on your phone. The only other thing I can think of is maybe the last update your phone had included the HDR function which essentially takes 3 photos and blends them together to create one good photo. If this is the case, each time you take a photo, the phone is storing 3. to check, go into settings and select the Photos and Camera icon. Scroll right to the bottom and check if you have "HDR (High Dynamic Range)". If you do, turn off "Keep Normal Photo" and you will not be keeping the extra ones and the phone will only be storing the HDR ones after it has done its thing. Truth is, it may just be time for a new phone. That would solve all of your problems for sure!
  25. IO have a 16G Iphone 6 and I've got close to 400 pics on my phone currently which accounts for almost 1 full gig of storage space. Go to settings, General, and select the Storage option (Mine says Storage and Icloud). Click on "manage usage" and it will show you where all of your storage space is going by app as well as what you have left on the phone. If you have a lot of text messages with photos in them, that will take up a lot of space as well. I have to purge my text messages every so often to ensure I do not get the message you received.
