Paul and I decided we needed to get out of the city for the long weekend. Up and out of bed at 4 a.m. on Saturday morning made the drive up there much more pleasurable than leaving with all the traffic on Friday night. We got to Lakair before noon and set up camp. The whole campsite was full and all cottages were booked, so we found a spot to pitch our tent and gazebo and launched the boat. We musky fished all day in the sun and heat and pickerel fished at night. No musky this weekend but we caught some pike and two pickerel. I didn't bother taking any pike pictures. We did have a very friendly encounter with a heron who proceeded to hang out about 3 feet from the boat while we were anchored pickerel fishing and waited patiently for my rock bass cast offs. He ate well that night and gave me some great photo opportunities. Here's some of the weekend pictures including a delicious BBQ'd dinner and some gorgeous sunsets. Enjoy

As I mentioned above, Paul always wears footwear in the boat, but sometimes its hot, so I got him these funky new sandals I found on Ebay. They kept his feet cool and his feet didn't burn at all on the weekend and we were in the boat every day for three days. Joey

I go barefoot most of the time, and if I get a big fish that I bring into the boat, I stand on the seat so there's less chance of getting one in the foot. Also I have Paul to get in there if need be and do the dirty work, he never goes barefoot in the boat. Joey

Great report Lew. I've yet to get a musky on a figure 8. Haven't really had much of an opportunity to do so. Can't wait to get my first figure 8 grabber Beauty fish too Joey

That musky is about the average size of a good eating pike, so I don't see why it wouldn't taste any good. We used to catch and eat them back in the day when they were plentiful where my family lived. Tasted like pike to me. Nice report and fish Dan. Joey

Its funny, I have seen that pike pic (I believe it is from Norway) on the net so many times, then last weekend when we went into the tackle shop in Bronte, it was tacked to the wall with all the other local pics of people holding fish. Paul and I had a good chuckle. Joey

Little Doe has smallies, pike, pickerel, whitefish and panfish. We've done well there but I hear its tough fishing lately. Although it did take us about 4 years to figure the lake out and where the fish are. You won't need downriggers for Little Doe if that's where you're talking about for downrigging, its not that deep of a lake. Joey
