  1. Hi Joey - great report and very nice pics. (I can do without the spider shots though) In regards to taking photo lessons....I think if you pull a Brandon you'll do fine. He wanted to capture a Grizzly, and so he went to them. I just don't know how you'll pull off getting up to the Eagle's nest. Although something tells me that you will find a way. Well done.
  2. Hi Jen; I too missed this, but I haven't been around much. I took care of my step-Dad last week. He lives out of town and is presently going through radiation and chemo for stage 3 lung cancer. Radiation is every day, chemo is once a week. (for now) He is such a sick man....so weak....so frail....and so determined. You and he are heroes to me. I will pledge and I will be thinking of you on those days. It is the least I can do to show you that you have touched my life. I have to believe that your passion for others is an opportunity for the rest of us to get on board and help you attain your goal and in so doing bring you joy. Thank you for doing this for all those who suffer. Nancy
  3. I am so surprised and saddened. I don't know how I missed this but I obviously did and I was a little ticked off reading it because my reaction was more to the announcement that here we are now May 12th and only hearing about John's passing that happened on April 16th. Of course it was me who didn't quite put it together. I remember posting a few years back and John was fairly new to the board....I had a question regarding a vasectomy....John was sure comical in his replies....boy was he gettin worked up thinking about it. :-) The post was deleted at my request partly because of John. :-) Rest in Peace John and to his family - my sincere condolences.
  4. I thought so....
  5. You were not 49 last year??? I've often wondered about this and hoping maybe you can answer.....The milkman left his customers with white teeth...what does a plumber leave his customers? I just wanted to make you smile...please don't answer that question.
  6. thanks for the laugh Wayne. You are absolutely correct and I feel so proud of Jennifer....what a strong young woman....and she makes me cry.
  7. You fish Carp with a troubled heart....are you nuts!! (once a mother always a mother) I know the power and fight these ugly little buggers give....congrats and hope all goes well with your health.
  8. Great report and pics. They sure are ugly but great fun. Not my favourite to catch and release - hurts too much.
  9. Happy Birthday Art....now get away from the mirror and stop sucking in that gut. Have a great Birthday.
  10. Makes no sense....and is worrisome. When gas goes up...so does the price of other essentials such as food. As for bottled water....just a heads up. Had my tap water tested recently - just so happens I had bottled water in the house and that got tested too. The bottled water was worse than my tap water. The 'expert water technician' let us know that there are only three kinds of bottled water on the market that is 'safe' to drink and worth the money....at the very least better quality than most tap water. They are: Aquafina, Smart Water and Dasani. I was shocked at how miserable the bottled water I had on hand failed and when I was educated on the devastation to the human body that 'bad' water can cause.... i.e. cancers....I went and purchased a Brita - can't put a price on Peace of Mind. Stay away from bottled water!!!!
  11. No question you do take great pictures. I just find the second and third one too perfect....they appear to me to be a little unreal. Nice sunrise.
  12. I am no expert....I don't like to work one unless I can sit on it. But....I do believe that lawn mowers and motors for boats are next for the emissions test thingy....I believe 2012 is the magical year. Projections are that the price of lawn mowers will increase. Some people are back back to the old style of mowing with the Reel Mower - no noise, no pollution.
  13. What an enjoyable read. How is the 'newbie'???? Jeeezzzz what a first time experience! The pictures were great and your story telling was excellent.
  14. Poor little guy....he's likely going to hate fishing now. lol
  15. Wow....what a journey! I'm surprised....you don't show any signs of having been that broken in your writing skills. Write a book. You have talent. Seriously....write a book - I would buy it. Congrats....on so many levels - congrats!
  16. Definitely Go. You are a great Dad - don't let that ex of yours make you think otherwise. I have an ex as well and when his folks pass I will for sure pay my respects. I loved them, still do - their son just wasn't good for me anymore and in leaving him I left them. Sad that yours won't give you the particulars, - but follow your heart and do what you feel is right.
  17. Had me fooled....I thought I'd see your Mrs. in full gear with you bawling in the background ;-) She sure is spoiling you lately....camera, new picture....hhhmmmmm Mother's Day is coming ya know! Just saying....
  18. My eyes are wet and my face has a huge smile.
  19. I agree with you to a point. Having an addiction is most difficult and unless you have one you really don't know what it's like to quit. Be it alcohol, drugs, gambling...whatever. I'm talking more about an addiciton and not a habit.....two different things. I had heard of Champix but was told it was much like Zyban and because Zyban did not help me (although I did quit for 2 years but could not give up that one cigarette every day) it wasn't long before I was back and heavy into my addiciton. It's working for you though and I hope you continue to be smoke free. For me....I still need the Nicotine for a bit longer because I don't have the will power to fight the withdrawal...the addiction is far bigger than I and I still need the drug. Call it weakness, call it whatever....I call it an addiction and a heck of a one to beat.
  20. Thanks for all the well wishes. It's nice to hear success stories from the patch, it's making a believer out of me. I'm telling every smoker I know. I'm feeling great so far...a little light headed at times and to make sure that I do not gain weight, I purchased the book: the 17 day diet. I can just imagine how great I'm gonna look, smell and feel. I'll be back to four times a day from 3 in no time (hang onto your youth Mr. Bailey - fake it if you have to......
  21. I've been a smoker since the age of 12. I tried quitting many times but just couldn't do it. With the recent diagnosis of lunch cancer for my step-father (only 68 years young) I made yet another attempt to quit. This time I am on the 'Patch' and I cannot believe how well it is working. It's only been since this past Saturday but I just can't get over not having any withdrawal. In other words I'm not on the verge of 'losing it' nor thinking about it every waking minute. I bought Step 1 from Shopper's Drug Mart - their Life brand. A $10.00 savings compared to the Nicoderm brand. With the exception of having a lot of dreams I am feeling no ill effects. I know that I am still getting the Nicotine and that's okay because I am going to beat it this time. I'll take Step 1 for 6 weeks then move onto Step 2 and then the final Step 3. By then, early August, I will be able to say that I am a Non-Smoker. One other thing I found with the Patch...wear it on the inside of your arm. For some odd reason having it on the outside of the arm just killed me when I slept curled up on that arm. Very odd. Anyhow....I just wanted to share the good news about the Patch - AMAZING.
  22. I've been thinking about this. Personally, and not to offend anyone, I prefer and want my little gift to go to Jen. Not that I don't see the benefit in Ryan's Fish a Thon, I just would like Jen to have it all. She can put the extra $$ towards getting a day at the spa with the upcoming weddings she'll be attending. So....I will forward my gift to Wayne's address and Jen can use it as she sees fit. This is not Charity - it is truly a Gift from the Heart.
  23. Wonderful!!!!...PM sent. I've beem watching that thread and I was so hoping that Jen would win without me having to join Facebook. So here's my way of saying sorry for not voting. Wayne go fishing or something will ya. Jen, some of us just want and need to do something nice for you - I think about you everyday.
  24. You must be single. Or soon to be.
  25. And if you don't get it fixed for her ASAP...then a new boyfriend is in order. (Just sticking it back to the ones that suggested a new girlfriend) Seriously though, this is a test to see just how handy you are. If you really want to keep her you got until tomorrow to get r done.
