Those are really beautiful pics, very sharp and colourful. I love taking nature pics as well and have discovered recently that taking pics of a big fire at night can really be interesting when you look back at them. I constantly can find eerie almost demonic looking faces in the flames. It really is quite creepy but you can see interesting things sometimes and it is also quite striking when you actually see the flames frozen in your pics. Keep taking and posting more. If I ever get a chance I will post some of my favorite fire pics and others.

Great report as always Cliff. I always look forward to your reports. Looks like a beautiful area to fish.

Nice eye Cliff. Finally I have internet again after three and a half weeks without. Gee 3 days with the in-laws, I lived with mine two years and it was hell. My wife and I have finally moved out and got a place to call home of our own. Anyway now I can finally get my Cliff and Bly fish story fix each day and hopefully I can get out soon and have a report of my own soon. With the move it has eaten into my weekly fishing. Last week I went out for a couple of hours on Canada and ended up involved with responding to aid a couple who had run aground in a sailboat. This ate up three hours and caused damage to my prop. It was worth it to help them though, especially after 4 other boats ignored their flares. We had to call in fire rescue to help us get them out. Somehow they managed to sail into 2 feet of water and got really stuck. We didnt get much fishing done but we did a good deed so we felt good about our day and the snowbirds flew right over us at the same time.

It seems to get worse every year. I live in Ottawa and the Rideau river has to be the worse spot for this kinda behavior , The river on the lower end is not very wide and people just fly around not even caring about canoes or kayaks let alone other boats. And these huge and I mean huge cabin cruisers are all over the river and they make big wakes. Last week two boats collided sending three people to the hospital and there were charges. Last year I was out with some friends and a power boat with a water skier I guess thought it would be funny to come real close to us and spray us. If I could have caught up to them the guy would have paid dearly. I think they need to come up with a way to make sure everyone on the water has a liscense not just a boaters card and if they act irresponsible it should be taken away just like a car lisence. I know this will never happen and the police are not all over the waterways to catch these people. If this ever happens to me again I will try to get the boat number or at least a pic and I will call the police. Fact is there are alot more people on the water now and alot of people just dont see that they are doing anything wrong.

We have caught huge rock bass like that in Otter lake near Smiths Falls. We couldnt believe the size of them. I dont mind catching them when they are that big.
-
Man Cliff I wish I could get out as much as you do and have the success you have. Great report as always, looking forward to the next one. Come on now and break the 30lb mark.

I see a common thread about the first thing noticed as that is what I saw first. Nice pic and beautiful sunset. Kinda like a car wreck, your eyes are just drawn to it.

If any of you saw my report a couple of weeks ago you would have seen pics of me with a hook under the skin of my knuckle. I think at that point you have enough adrenalin to just push it through yourself. I have now done this on two occasions and cut the hook. There is no way I could let someone else do it. The pain was not to bad the second time. The first time was in the thumb and let me tell ya thumb meat is very thick and takes alot of pushing to get the hook through. The knuckle one was not poking through the skin so I had to push it and break through the skin and barely had enough room to get the cutters around to cut. Good news is it didnt hurt, or bleed much and I went right back to fishing and got pics. The bad news is I have to replace a treble hook on my brand new taildancer.

Maybe they should have inscribed something into his trunk! Stupid moron. -
Another nice report Andrew. And you are right about the water levels, we were at Fitzroy for the weekend and just got set up when the storm hit. The dam was opened right up and even the overflows were roaring, the water was 4 ft higher than normal. One day I would love to get up and fish your area of the river. Take care Don

The better team did win this series and I have no problem admitting that. The ducks were just to much for the Sens but I do give the sens credit for getting that far and everyone may hate Alfredson but her is the reason they got that far, he definitely was not the same old alfredson.

Congrats Bly, its nice to see that the two of you can split the time and not get upset at each other, you truly are made for each other.

Took my wife out to carp fish today
Badger Shark replied to Badger Shark's topic in General Discussion
RJ , I told him to take it as I was not ready to take it. I dont see the significance of your comment. The day before the first rod to go off after I arrived he told me that it was mine and I did take it. I really dont now why you guys have to come on and ruin threads all the time due to personal issues. This was a fishing report and has now been turned into a personal slander fest as usual. Like I said before if you have a personal issue with me or anyone else then deal with it in a private manor. I am not slamming you here or Big o, I am just replying to you question. If the Mods would like to end this thread then by all means do so it doesnt get out of hand. I was really happy to right this but now I am starting to regret it. Bottom line is I got my biggest fish and my wife got her biggest fish ever and beat me. :clapping: Don -
Took my wife out to carp fish today
Badger Shark replied to Badger Shark's topic in General Discussion
It really is fun and social too. I wasnt sure if I would like it but it is alot of fun when you get one on the line and start to fight them as they are pure muscle. May not be the nicest looking fish but they are fun. -
Heading To Haliburton...need some help!
Badger Shark replied to ccmtcanada's topic in General Discussion
I think if the fish know your coming they will just show up for you as it seems you guys are fish magnets! I think its great you guys get out so often together, I am just as lucky as you Cliff in the fact my wife likes to fish when ever she can get the chance and never gives me grief about going. Only thing is she still wont hold the fish yet. Have a good time and good luck, looking forward to your report as usual. -
Took my wife out to carp fish today

Big o, I am not sure why you would question the numbers caught. First of all I was only there for a couple of hours and in that time frame on the first day 6 fish were caught. Now Jackel starts fishing at 3:45am and stays until 7:30 -8pm. So in 15 or 16 hours it is very possible to catch that many and more. He did not catch all the fish as there was another in the group besides myself. Obviously you have a personal beef with him, not sure why but I have an idea. I never said he caught all of the fish. On the second day with my wife there were only about 22 fish caught and most were in the morning, with 5 being caught while we were there. If you have been there and I am SURE you have you know the numbers there. I appreciate you congratulating me on my PB, but this thread was a report on fishing and I would appreciate it if you want to question and insult a friend of mine you do it in a private message, not on my report. I have no personal issue with you so please respect that. -
Some of you guys are really harsh. Hate is a very strong word and we are talking hockey here are we not. I have to admit some of this talk really makes my blood boil. I do agree with some of the points made but HATE of sens fans and Ottawa is pretty small minded. I live here and was born here. I have also lived in Vancouver and Kansas city. I would not say disparaging things about someones home town unless I lived there and had valid reasons. I have been to Toronto many times in my life. I like going there but wouldnt live there because it is just to busy and huge. As for Alfredson, I do agree that it looked intentional but whos to say and if it was then he should be ashamed of himself, it is a cowardly thing to do. Other than that he has been a very good person to this community. I do recall several different leaf players over the years commiting very stupid acts without thinking ( Tucker and the non spitting incident, Domi and many incidents) but these guys are passionate and people would love to have them on their team, myself included. I also agree that if we had more north americans on the team we probably would be playing better, I just believe that if you are a canadian hockey player all you ever dreamed of was winning the stanley cup and if you have the chance you are damned sure going to give it everything you have and more. I think most Europeans and Russians would rather win a world cup and some are just here trying to cash in. Anyway the better team is going to win this series and that is the ducks by far, they have played harder and dictated the play. They are forcing the sens to play their way and are dominating them. Maybe someday the sens will get another shot but I dont think it will be for a long time after this one. At least they made it to the final. And if the leafs ever make it back to the final, I will cheer for them if they are the loan Canadian team. I think the comments about the city are not right, just because it is the home of the government. Toronto is the home of the provincial government, so I guess we can hate Toronto for that? Seems kinda silly and high-schoolish to me. Anyway this is just my opinion and I am sure I will get a bunch of flack for it, oh well I can live with it.

Boudreaux and Tibedeau are sitting around drinking one day and decide they are going to build a rocket and go to the sun. The local press gets wind of this and sends a reporter out to talk to them. He asks them a bunch of questions and finally the most important one," How are you guys going to get to the sun its way to hot and you will just burn up?" Well Boudreax speaks up and says " Thats easy, we gonna go at night !" :clapping:

Congrats Cliff, those carp really are fun to catch. And I only caught 4 on the weekend, my first ever carp but each one beat the other topping out at 25.6lbs and my wife catches one and it is 28lbs. Man those fish are big and ugly. Way to go Cliff and I couldnt imagine trying to get one on shore alone, that must be a pain.

Second period ended the season right there! They say its not over but they just dont play 60min and you have to with a team like the Ducks. I give the ducks all the credit in the world, its just a shame that the team cant put it together. I was in downtown Ottawa today at my wifes University graduation and the spirit of the city is everywhere, huge banners and signs and yes I said spirit in Ottawa, something that this city is not known for but it is here. Every game day I see kids all over the place on street corners with signs and yelling and cheering for the sens, hopefully they will get another chance to do so but it doesnt look good.

Took my wife out to carp fish today
Badger Shark replied to Badger Shark's topic in General Discussion
I knew she would beat me! And Zachs fish did look almost as big as his, but to listen to him talk you would think it was a small one since he has caght so many. And they are a fun fish, very strong. -
This is a continuation of yesterdays carp fishing. I headed back down to the Long Sault area today and this time brought my wife. Al ( Jackel ) and his son Zach were there all weekend so we met up with them. I dont have any carp equiptment so Al was nice enough to let us use his. Yesterday I was there and caught my first ever carp and two others with the biggest around 20lbs so today I was hoping to beat it. When we arrived Al said he had caught 19 since 4am but it had been an 1.5hrs since anything. We had been sitting for a while when finally one of the alarms goes off and Al has one on, not a bad fight and he gets her in. Another lull and finally the middle rod goes and this one is running and running and running! I tell Jess ( my wife ) to get the rod and catch her first carp. This puppy was a good fish and ran all over the place, but she listened and did exactly what we told her to do and managed to get this pig in after about 10 min. Al holding Jess' 28lb, first carp ever! So now I am hoping my rod will go off so I can land one bigger than hers, she always catches the biggest fish when she comes out with me. Well finally it goes and I have hopes as this one is a runner and feels big. I fight her for some time before finally getting her in the net and Al says this is a fat fish, so I am hoping 29lbs? Well not quite but still my biggest yet at 25.6lbs So a bit of a storm starts to move in and we are hoping for one more for Zach to reel in. Now Zach is 5 yrs old and is an old pro with carp and has caught bigger than ours. His rod goes and he starts to reel her in, with a little assistance from dad. He gets her in and she is a big fish, close to thirty and a great way to round out the fishing for the day. I think I like this carp fishing stuff and I just might go for them more often, and my wife also enjoyed it even though her arms got tired. Hope the pics work this time. Don

The home crowd really worked I would have to say. The Sens fell behind early on a penalty but they played really well this game. From everything I heard and saw on tsn, they played a very physical game and managed to actually get into the ducks zone and outshot the ducks to boot. There was definitely some uglyness to this one though. First a controversial goal, upon review it was the right call. And then Pronger head shots Macammon, and it was a deliberate head shot from all the replays. There was no penaty called either. If they play like this again, we will have a good series. If they come out and lay an egg on Monday then they will be toast.

My first time carp fishing, and I actually caught some
Badger Shark replied to Badger Shark's topic in General Discussion
Ok I have no idea why some of the pics did not show up, they were there and now they arent. I went in to edit a couple of words and then submitted the edited post and they were gone except 2. I dont get it so I will try and post them here. My first carp my second my 3rd Ok I just previewed and a couple work the others dont so I am going to quit now. Not sure what happened. Oh well hopefully tomorrows report works out better. Sorry! but its driving me crazy GOODNIGHT! -
Well, I started the day working and around 2pm I decided I had enough, it was warm and humid and I didnt feel like driving anymore. Al (Jackel) had left on Friday down to Long Sault but I couldnt get a away to join him, I planned on going down on Sunday but finally I Just said to heck with it, Im going fishing. So I called another driver to come in and then I told the boss ( my wife ) she is actually the boss where I work, and off I went. I headed out around three, I am on the 416 south and the sky is looking really mean. I reached the prescott area and the sky unloaded, heavy heavy rain till the point where I had to join several others on the side of the highway, while there I took a few pics...... This storm actually hit me twice, it cut across so when I was going south I went through it and then when I headed east I went through it again. Anyway I made it through and arrived at about 4:15. I wasnt there all that long when one of the alarms went off and Al says " its yours ", so I grab the rod and manage to land my first ever carp, nice strong fish. Apparently the bite had been on all day, they had already caught 34 fish when I arrived, the biggest weighed 33lbs, they said my first one was around 16. Wasnt long before the next rod went and Al grabbed this one and she was a big fish, 20+ lbs. Not long after that one Spinner gets one on... Then there was a bit of a break, lots of fish jumping everywhere but no bites. Finally about 30 mins go by and the alarm goes off and I have my second carp and this one is bigger, she was running all over the place and headed towards the shore where there is a rock wall covered in zebra mussels so I was doing my best to keep her away from there, luckily after a good fight I got here in. We all took turns and we were sitting on number 39 for a long time, Spinner had one on two different times but they got off. As soon as he said " looks like were not going to get 40 " my rod goes off and I grab it, this one is my biggest so far and she was running all over the place, twice to the left, right straight out for a long run and to the right towards the rock wall. Finally after about 10 minutes or so ( it felt like 30) I landed my 3rd and biggest, this one was over 20 and I was a happy carper. And also it was number 40. Here are a couple of other shots. The total fish caught was 41, Spinner finally managed to hook one and get her in. I was supposed to stay the night there but the wife was having a bad night so I came home and took her out to see a movie, but only if we can head back down there tomorrow after she is done work at noon. She said yes and also said she is going to catch a bigger one than me. And I am sure she will and she deserves to, but I am going to try very hard to beat her. I hopefully will have an even better report tomorrow with more pics.... till then, see ya. Don
