  1. I think part of it is that we are so used to either fishing for them near the shore or shoals that we don't bother even looking for them suspended over deep water.
  2. I was behind a guy who was older then me (mid 50's maybe) and at 5 consecutive red lights he was staring at his lap. Every time the light turned green there was a long delay. First 2 I gave him the benefit of the doubt. Third one I tried to go around him on the right but there was someone parked in the lane. Fourth and fifth lights he was staring down when the light turned green and I was on the horn the instant it changed. I bet he had a story at work about the "young" hothead who was behind him on his way in. Maybe he was even texting people about it as it was happening?
  3. Glad to see she is still interested in fishing.
  4. I forgot to mention that there was a second great deal. The Ultramar on West St had gasoline for $1.23. That's about 10 cents cheaper then most of the area.
  5. Not to put too fine a point on it but I believe he intends it to be pronounced Fish Master.
  6. Started off seeing 2 turkeys in a field then 2 more crossing the road and the 5th one almost ran right in front of us. I slammed the brakes at the same time the turkey did. We stopped, the turkey did the splits and headed back to the ditch. I instantly wondered why I stopped. Mmmmmm turkey. We headed to Couch because I had a reel that I wanted to drop off at Rocky's. Fished a few spots and caught some fish. Ryan had a blast and started calling himself the Fish Master. His fish skills are coming along, but his humility needs more work. Off the water and headed over to Rocky's to take in an old Abu C4 that started acting up while on Nipissing last week. I figured we'd drop it off and get it in a few weeks with a return trip to the water as well. Younger guy behind the counter takes a quick look as I explain what it was doing wrong and says "Just hold on, I think I can fix it for you." He heads back to the parts area and shows up with the part and switches it in for the broken one, gives the handles a spin and it's as good as new. He ask's "How does 10 bucks sound?". I felt a little guilty handing him 2 fives. That Abu should be good for another 20 years.
  7. Thanks Chad. Haven't been yet, but Nipigon is on "the list". Any word if Rick has got the pucker mark out of his boat seat?
  8. Someone took your stuff and thinks you're a fool.
  9. That apple didn't fall far from the tree... though it might have rolled a little bit. No doubt he made a difference.
  10. So Kardashiain was the closest guess. Fake video star.
  11. You could buy a lot of cod tongues for that. Do you spend any time there hunting grouse in the fall?
  12. ...and the server at the local restaurant thinks it's Kim Kardasian's baby.
  13. Confirmation bias combined with a lousy vid is a great combo.
  14. I moved a coffee table about a foot and a half with my big toe in the dark. No broken bones but the ligaments are still sore months later. More pain then any turf toe I had playing sports.
  15. I fished it a few times last year and caught lots of bass and plenty of panfish for my son, but never saw a pike. Haven't fished it this year but likely will soon.
  16. Considering you fit in a cooler, I would think quite a few.... I see this would have been more relevant if you still had your old avatar.
  17. Stop kicking things. See the Doc. Firmer soled shoes that aren't tight might help a bit if/when you have to walk on it.
  18. Nope, the "big ones" were all slightly over 20 inches. The prevailing theory is that the bigger fish are deeper and/or suspended by this time in July. It was nice to fish in warmer weather but the fish are a little harder to figure out.
  19. Now that I've found my list I might head over this week sometime.
  20. Yep, I'm Felix and he is Oscar. Compared to early June when we normally fish the fish were smaller and didn't go after the trolled baits at all. We kept 2 of the 4 legal fish. They were.
