  1. Oh I'm sure most of us can imagine the look on your face as the knife, and sheath, went ploup.
  2. When I was a teenager I fought an anchor rope for 5-10 minutes in very wavy conditions with an ultralite rod.
  3. We already talked about this 3 weeks ago when it was news. http://ontariofishingcommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=76756&hl=angler&do=findComment&comment=881736
  4. I'd be interested in just watching the dives and climbs.
  5. Thanks Brian. The one for the security system is dead and for now I've put one from the finder in the panel. At least the beeping has stopped.
  6. Zero gravity flights coming to North Bay: http://www.nugget.ca/2014/11/28/s3-to-offer-zero-gravity-flights-2 Not in my price range.... and I'd likely spend the whole trip puking into a bag... at least I'd hope it would get into the bag.
  7. Need to replace some 12 volt batteries for my fish finder and home security system. Who has the best price?
  8. Swiped from facebook: If I have 10 pieces of bacon and you take 5. What do you have? That's right, a black eye, a broken hand.... and no bacon.
  9. The only real difference is the logos. There isn't a true competition and therefore no need to improve service or pricing.
  10. http://www.cbc.ca/m/touch/technology/story/1.2846892#video A rarely seen fish that resembles a severed head with a huge mouthful of fangs has been captured on video in its natural, deep-sea habitat for the first time. The female black sea devil anglerfish was filmed 580 metres below the surface of the ocean on Nov. 17 using a remote-controlled robotic submarine by researchers at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute in California. As of Monday morning, the video of a female black sea devil anglerfish has already been watched 1.4 million since it was posted on YouTube three days earlier. Anglerfish are monstrous-looking deep-sea predators named and known for a worm-like appendage on their heads that emits light. The fish waves the lure around in order entice prey into their gaping mouths. According to the research institute, anglerfish have only been captured on video a handful of times. To the researchers knowledge, this particular species was never filmed previously. The beady-eyed, nine-centimetre-long fish, which swims with its toothy mouth open wide, is captured in such detail that you can see a broken tooth flapping as it swims and tiny dots on its skin that are used to sense the movements of its prey. The researchers report they know it is a female because males are much smaller and dont have a lure, as their main focus is reproduction rather than hunting.
  11. Glad things worked out. It was minus 10 at 9am this morning. http://barrie.ctvnews.ca/two-hunters-pulled-from-a-sinking-boat-in-lake-simcoe-1.2113093 Two hunters had to be rescued from Lake Simcoe on Friday morning after the boat they were in started to take in water. Emergency crews got the call around 7:30 a.m. Friday morning after one of the hunters called 911. South Simcoe Police says the two were in a 14 foot aluminium boat about two kilometres from shore in the south end of Cook’s Bay. Innisfil Fire, Georgina Fire, South Simcoe Police and York Regional Police all responded. Georgiana Fire located the men, who were standing in waist deep water, and brought them to shore. The two men, 55 & 29, were checked out by paramedics but didn’t suffer any injuries and were released. 12. Nope. Why take 2 minutes to do something that can be done in 20 seconds? More time with your bait fishin'... and it's more like a 150-200 cranks with many of the low ratio reels.
  13. Reeling a standard reel from "deep" water can be a pain so yes these wouldn't be my first choice for 80ish feet and beyond. Pros and cons as with most things.
  14. My wife does it every year. She's at the Buffalo boarder by 6-7pm Wednesday and has had no issues. Edit to change the day. Makes it almost useless for you, sorry. I stay home and watch football, I mean the kids.
  15. The kids bring home colds. They would also bring home the flu. If I had co-workers with a modicum of personal hygiene, didn't work with people with compromised immune systems and didn't have kids I'd likely not bother with a shot. No advice, there is obviously very little point.
  16. The kids bring home colds. I don't get the flu. Why have studies when people refuse to follow advice?
  17. I don't go to work when I'm sick. That's for the people I work with and for. I wish more people would do the same. For what it's worth, I never used to get sick either. Now with young kids they're bringing every bug home from school because people can't/won't keep their sick kids home.

  19. I work with a vulnerable population. I get it so maybe I don't give the flu to them.
  20. One more thing to watch out for in your itemized hotel bill: https://ca.news.yahoo.com/blogs/daily-buzz/british-couple-fined-for-giving-hotel-bad-review-on-173327314.html A British couple had an additional charge billed to their credit card that the hotel said was policy for bad reviews. The room was $64 for one night and the extra fee was for $177. Not sure how accurate/fair the review was but this will not likely end well for the hotel.
  21. Decades of global data discredited by lake effect snowstorm in south Buffalo.
  22. 8 degrees and rain says otherwise.
