  1. In my 13+ years on this board Johnny, I think your the ONLY person to ever say I had a happy smile, infact most seem to think I look grumpy. Glad to see you recognized the truth
  2. At my age Brian, nothing happens that CAN'T be talked about
  3. And tonight it's those Costco steaks again, I musta done something right this week LOL
  4. Fantastic week as always Joey and I don't know if I've ever laughed as much LOL Like every other year it's great when Diane and I are sharing holidays with you, Paul, Rich & Patsy and am already looking forward to next June's trip. After reading your post I think I understand why none of us caught as many fish this year as usual, seems like we spent most of the 9 days stuffing our faces with food Thanks for putting the story together and as always, your pictures are fantastic !! And by the way, Diane made me my toast this morning
  5. Your gonna be travelling in style now !! Great buy.
  6. And hopefully your 1st musky is a brute.
  7. I've always liked your style Rick.
  8. Hope you rinse that mug out before pouring your morning coffee in it LOL
  9. Way back in '67 my wife and I bought a new soft top trailer from K-Mart in Scarboro. Nothing fancy but it was comfortable and we did a pile of travelling with it. Payed $500 for it, used it for 5 years and sold it for $500. One of my better investments LOL
  10. Hope you guys don't catch too many big bass this weekend, the muskies like them for snacks
  11. I'd leave the 1st aid kit at home and bring Moosebunk instead LOL
  12. I just sold off 43 baits that hardly ever got used anymore Tom, my boats gonna be riding alot higher in the water this season. LOL
  13. Congratulations Bruce and all the best to your entire family.
  14. Very often while cranking in your bait you'll feel a bump or even the line go slack for a second. I guess their trying to figure out what it is but just keep cranking and more times than not they'll grab it within a second or two. Always nice when they broadcast their about to hit your bait LOL
  15. I took the drive down to Oshawa this morning...(140 mile round trip)...and had a long talk with the sales guy in the binocular section. I told him I was looking to spend somewhere in the $150 range and wanted 8 X 42 and he showed me 3 different glasses. I asked which would be his choice if buying them for himself and he suggested the Simmons ProSport 8 X 42 and said even without being on sale for half price it was still the best choice. For what I'll be using them for I didn't need anything high end and figure these will work fine for me. Thanks for all the suggestions. http://www.sail.ca/en/orientation/binoculars-optics/regular/simmons-prosport-8x42-182887
  16. Some days the fishing gods just smile on us LOL
  17. I had a house trailer on Lake Katchawanooka north of Peterboro for 36 years and knew every square inch of that lake. I headed out early one morning to do some trolling and even though the visibility was absolute zero because of the heavy fog I wasn't concerned because I knew where I was going...ya, right. I didn't troll a 1/2 mile and I ran right into the shore, going 90 degrees the wrong way. I thought I was going south but instead went east. Should have had a compass that day LOL
  18. Absolutely, and that's the reason I'll drive 100 miles to a store for a 1st hand look rather than order something from the internet and find it's not what I'm after.
  19. Had a similar thing up on the West Arm a couple years back Wayne, bright clear blue bird skies and a solid wall of fog just ahead of me. Crazy stuff for sure.
  20. Yup, that's the one I'm going down to look at Bruce.
  21. Thanks again guys, I'm gonna head down to Sail in Oshawa tomorrow for a look around.
  22. I just use a plain old triangle file and it's excellent and has worked well for me for decades.
  23. Thanks for the replies guys, seems like you're all in agreement with what I've read about the 10's. SAIL have these glasses on for half price so maybe I should take a drive down there an have a look. I currently have an old Bushnell Trophy but it's taken a beating over the years and it's time for a replacement and I want bigger glasses anyways. http://www.sail.ca/en/orientation/binoculars-optics/regular/simmons-prosport-8x42-182887
  24. I'm thinking of buying new binoculars just for general viewing around here and in the boat & am interested in this one and would like your opinions. It's 10 X 50 but I've read a few things saying with a 10 power I may find excessive movement thru the lens and may need a tri-pod to make the image appear more stable. If that's the case I'll look at something different. Problem around the Peterboro area is there doesn't appear to be many stores selling decent glasses. These are available at CTC and have a lifetime warranty. I'm heading north next Saturday and want to get them before I leave so that rules out ordering them on line. Any thoughts boys ?? https://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CB0QFjAAahUKEwjE38-_4ozGAhWKTJIKHR7FCqs&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.celestron.com%2Fbrowse-shop%2Fsport-optics%2Fbinoculars%2Fcavalry-10x50-binocular&ei=Py98VYTEI4qZyQSeiqvYCg&usg=AFQjCNFl4F0iSeEmHzkAlecet7DhuqJFRg
  25. As outlaw said above, reels have drags for a reason. It's all part of the learning process and time on the water is your best teacher.
