Your right about the durability of those baits JohhnyB, that was only a small pike but he nearly tore the tail off the Dawg. A big fish would make a real mess outta them, but I spose it would be worth it
-
Nope, we were just fishing some sheltered waters yesterday Shawn, there was too much wind on the big lakes.

Matt, Jamie & I have been having an ongoing discussion for the last 4 years about which is the better musky bait, Suicks or Dawgs. Jamie became a Suick believer this year, and that was my 1st fish on the Dawg he gave me, although it was sposed to be a musky rather than a pike, but sometime ya can't help what grabs yer hook As for cold fronts, we had one go thru here on Friday night, but it didn't slow the fishing down too much yesterday, as Squid & I saw, caught, missed, 6 or 8 muskies & pike. Just had to slow our presentations down and things worked well.

This ones for you Jamie Not what it was sposed to be, but it proved your point Took maybe 5 minutes.

That tells the whole story right there !! Congrats to your dad on a nice fish, and be darned sure it's not another 10 years before you guys share a boat again Great story !!

Beautiful little pooch ya got there Spiel, congrats bud !! As for knowing what time to get up for fish'n, Im just walking out the door myself

No Mike, there was no camp, infact it was just a wide spot on a dirt road in the middle of the bush with a makeshift boatramp and an outhouse. Good enuff for a few guys who weren't interested in any amenities, but I definetely wouldn't promote it as a "family" style camp. Lots of small pickeral, with some excellent feeds around the bonfires at night. Sorry I can't offer you anything on family camps up there, but it's a popular region of Quebec so I'm sure a few folks will chime in here and give you the info your looking for.

Best of luck out there tomorrow Badger, hope you nail a Quinte hog !! Definetely one of my favorite fish'n spots anywhere !!

Personally, I think it's pretty hard to pin down only one reel to fish everything from pickeral to musky, unless you want to keep changing lines & rods for the different species. Calcutta 400's are excellent for musky & large pike, but I don't think it would be the proper reel for finessing springtime pickeral, where something smaller may work better. Why not pick only one for now, then save your $$$$ and get something more appropriate for the other species thru the winter ??

Some nice fish there Mike, considering the tough conditions. I heard the long range forecast is calling for less precip than normal for the rest of the fall, so things may not get any better in the near future. Course, you being a weather dude, you already knew that

Anyone ever suggested creating a nonfishing discussion area?

Doesn't really matter Deano, cause no matter which hand you use, somebody around here will tell you your doing it wrong -
Can't offer anything on any of those lakes Mike, but I spent a week about 30 miles east of Kipawa 10 years ago. Never got anything big, but most of the pickeral we got were the blue variety, which seem to be pretty common in that area. Just thought I'd offer that incase you got into any blue fish on your upcoming trip and wondered what the heck was goin on

I spose it's a decent bass, but who can tell with the way the pics are destroyed. Never could figure why folks even bother posting pictures if their gonna ruin them 1st. Congrats on the PB..........I guess

I may be wrong, but I don't think the Reefhawg is available anywhere in Toronto. You can try JB's in Etobicoke.....416-614-7222 or Tightlines in Pickering.....905-837-0544. Their the only 2 good musky shops around T.O. and I'm certain they don't have them. They both used to carry the 6 & 8" Leo's, which are cedar and very similar to the Reefhawg and are probably gonna be the closest you'll find to what your after.

I hope that's meant as a joke.......

This question of changing the format of OFC is brought up more often than what hand should you crank a bait caster with. OFC is now, and always has been, one of the most popular fishing sites anywhere, and there's a very good reason for that......we like it just the way it is. As was just pointed out by aplumma, its normally very easy to tell what a thread is about just by reading the title, but if you go into it and decide it's something that your not interested in, it's just as easy to stop reading it and move onto the next thread. Many times a thread will begin as fishing related, then gets side-tracked onto something totally unrelated, so would that thread then have to be delegated to another page ?? Nope, this board has been working VERY VERY well, for MANY years, just exactly the way it is right now, so why don't we just go on enjoying things that work perfectly, and leave all the changes to the boards that are going downhill. Just my dime though -
It's pretty thick down here too Brian. Ole Marv and I are just heading out for our morning hike in the woods, sure hope I don't lose the little guy in this soup.

I agree Terry !! I used to shop at LeB's quite a bit, even in the old Yonge St. store back inthe day, but then the attitudes began going downhill and I hadn't been back in several years until this past spring. They offered the best price on a troll motor I wanted, and I'd heard how the attitudes had improved so I thought I'd give them another try and was very impressed with the way I was treated. Infact they went outta their way for me and I actually enjoyed shopping there again. I'll be back

The only ice I get excited about is the stuff that's melting in the spring

Thanks to everyone who responded to squids post earlier today about my computer problems the last couple days. I started having problems with this site, then it started on other sites too, and it turns out it was nothing to do with Rogers, but Internet Explorer. I was on the phone with them for 1 1/2 hours this afternoon while they tried different things, including issues with Runtime Errors and they finally narrowed it down to a faulty Google Toolbar that was causing all the problems. It was resolved by IE and now everything is working perfectly again. Please don't ask me to explain what the issue was, as most of what he described to me may as well have been spoken in a foreign language, and all that matters to me is that now things are working properly
-
But does your boss know how you spend your work days Terry ??
-
That was great Brian (Full volume) thanks for putting it up. I've been fortunate to have sailed along the beautiful east & north coasts of Newfoundland a few times, close enuff to see it well, and even dodged the many iceburgs, but never had the pleasure of actually visiting the island.....but maybe some day if I'm really lucky !!!!
-
Not sure about that one Brian, but they pulled a body outta Lake O this morning down at the foot of Bathurst St.
-
They may not be the 6 pounders from back in the day, but that's still a pretty respectable days catch you boyz got there !! Well done !!

Some real beauts there darsky, ya gotta luv the fall fatso's !!
