This has been an interesting thread, and I must admit that until I read it and then looked at the link provided by aniceguy, I'd never even heard of, or seen these clips. I don't fish for bass at all and seldom even watch bass fishing or bass tournies on TV, but when you figure in all the stress that fish go thru, specially the ones caught for tournaments, I can't really see where those little clips would do anymore harm than what's already being done. Their hooked, then the hooks are pulled back out, then their bounced around in a livewell all day with a bunch of other fish, in a boat going upwards of 60 MPH, then hauled back out and carried to the weigh station, then back to the water and released.......or whatever........so I can't see where putting a little plastic clip on their lip would really add that much more stress to them, or even enhance the chance of them dying after release. Seems to me that holding a fish up by the jaw and waiting for the camera to click would do more damage to that critter than a little plastic clip. My guess would be there's FAR more damage done to fish by fishermen who either don't know, or don't care about the proper way to handle fish that are gonna be released. We've all seen it, where fished are dropped in the bottom of the boat, or dragged across rocks by shore anglers, or even when fish are passed around from one guy to another so everyone can get a picture with it. We also see fish layed in gravel or mud to have a picture taken......that can't be too good for their eyes. Like I say though, I've never seen these little clips before this morning, but I think alot of folks do more to harm fish than than those things ever would, so personally I see no problem with them. Very interesting thread

I'm real happy with my 2005 Safari and it tows the boat with no problem whatsoever. It handles well and is as comfortable as most cars. I removed the 3rd seat and it gives me more space for hauling stuff around than I ever need This was my 2nd new Safari and if GM hadn't discontinued them in 05, I'd be buying another new one in the next couple years. Excellent tow vehicle.

I'll definetely be sitting in the the Pete Maina seminar on Friday, and probably be hanging around for Gord Pyser too. Would also like to listen to Saric too but it's just too crowded there on Saturdays. Raf, your right about Dick Pearson too, his talk at the Odyssee was excellent.

I had one of those redtail hawks kill and eat a pigeon in my backyard last winter that was eating some feed I'd put out on the ground. Nothing left of the pigeon but 2 wings and some blood.

You may want to have a look at a pooch similar to my little buddy, Ole Marv Marvin's a 12 year old Yorkshire Terrier/ poodle mix (yorkypoo) who sounds like exactly what your looking for. He's about 12" high at the shoulder and doesn't shed any hair at all, but the trade-off is we have to get him clipped every few months. He's unbelievably loyal, loving, and just plain fun to have around, and we go for at least 2 long walks in the woods every day of the year no matter how cold or hot it is.........his choice, not mine He'll swim all day if I let him and he loves riding in the truck or the boat. I can honestly say he's never been nasty towards anyone or anything and his whole mission in life is to be everybodies friend. Yorkypoo's are a very popular dog for a reason

I haven't targetted bass for alot of years, but I used to do well twitching minnow baits on the surface over & around pencil reeds, lilypads, rocks & stumps, so that may be worth trying around those few stumps you mentioned. A favorite bait was a blue & white Rapala and after tossing it towards the structure I'd just leave it sit for maybe 15-30 seconds then give it a few very light taps and let it sit again, then start twitching it back to the boat. Early morning & sunset were good times and it was even better when the water was calm. I never really got into tubes or any other plastics for that matter, infact I found it sorta boring, but top water strikes are always alot of fun. Something for you to think about anyways.

Lotsa nice fish in those pictures and welcome aboard

My feelings have always been that if a fish is so wimpy that he's scared off by a bit of noise, he ain't worth catching anyways

Seems to depend on what skin your using. I'm still using the Christmas skin and one click is all I need, but a couple of the others require a double click.

That's a great looking boat and it's always nice to see man finally get something he's waited a long time for !!

doug, you wouldn't be referring to Percy now, wouldya ??

Dale, good of you to stop by and it'd be nice to have you as a regular member of this board. That was truley a monster fish and the fact that you released it to swim another day made the entire story that much better. I'll definetely be listening to your tale at the Odyssee in a couple months.

That fish is a definate brute & I'm looking forward to seeing the replica up close at the Musky Odyssee this coming April. Also nice to see someone land that monster and not care about any record, just put her back in the river where she belongs. That to me is the best part of this whole story !!

Thanks for the laff Chris, that just struck me as hilarious for some reason
