  1. Surprisingly, one of our most productive night time spots was a barren mudflat with very sparse weed growth in 8-10 FOW.
  2. Two weeks in August on the West Arm of Nippissing, as has become the norm the last few years, and I can't think of another place I'd rather be.
  3. We wouldn't even head out until sunset and then the bite would usually last 2-3 hours then shut down. Always had the most luck in around 8 FOW. This was always in May, I don't know how it works the rest of the year as that's the only time I ever fished for pickeral.
  4. Spent many many years trolling for night time eyes in Quinte. Blue & white minnow baits 100' back fooled em every time
  5. It's a tough fight Kelvin, but we're all pulling for your wife.
  6. My backs hurting too Brian, but it's probably cause I stacked a cord of hardwood today
  7. I like to think it just means we taught them well
  8. Your definetely living the good life Drew and as always, thanks for taking us along for the ride !!
  9. Hey Cliff, I remember posting this picture a few years back of a very strange cloud formation over my house that I'd never seen before, and you came up with a name for it right away. Hafta admit I was pretty impressed
  10. Your absolutely right Mike, everyones opinion IS appreciated, but as often happens around here, someone asks for advice on something, and folks who know nothing about it are offering advice even though it's totally wrong. RAF is 100% correct in that if you don't know how to properly do something, then perhaps no answer is better than a wrong answer. I've never river fished or even used one of those fancy type reels that you use, and when someone asks questions about that type of stuff I just sit back and let those in the know, like yourself, answer the question. As for using a spinning reel for muskies....nope.
  11. Awesome is acceptible Chris And thanks again everybody.
  12. Any questions about fishing electronics, Terry's your man !!
  13. Funny how none of us ever mind getting out-fished by our kids. My son used to whoop my butt regularily, specially with pickeral, and I loved every minute of it.
  14. I like fish'n with Meeley just for the lunches he prepares Norm, I don't even care if we catch anything Good to hear everybody had a great day !!
  15. If the smaller shops have always offered a good selection of gear with decent prices and good customer service, they have nothing to worry about. The ones that didn't offer much are the ones that should be concerned. When BPS opened in Vaughn a few years back, some small shops closed but others continued to thrive because of what they had to offer to clients. JB's is a perfect example, he's just down the road from BPS but his customer service and gear selection is 2nd to none and he continues as one of the best fishing shops anywhere in Ontario, specially for musky stuff. Congrats to your son on the new job Motion, I hope it's everything he wanted
  16. When I was a fireman in Toronto the schedule allowed alot of time off which was great as most of us worked extra jobs on the side. I drove trucks on my days off for about 25 years, plus did some house painting, drove taxis and even cleaned offices for awhile. There's always plenty of work around even though it may not be exactly what your looking for, but lots to do to tide you over until you find what your looking for. Best of luck in your search.
  17. Sadly SirWhite, that's an impression FAR too many folks have when they think they'd like to try a baitcaster. It's simply another tool in the box, and with a little bit of practice you'll be casting with no problems before you know it. Just a tool, a very simple tool, and nothing more. Go ahead and buy one and enjoy.
  18. Hey Phil, your gonna spoil my image posting those kinda pictures johnny, if the water temps are up in the 80 degree or above range I'll use cranks and try and focus on deeper fish where the water is cooler. Where I was fishing up north last week the water was in the 77-78 degree range for the 1st couple days, then the nights began to get quite cool and the surface temps dropped to the low to mid 70's, infact on 2 mornings the water was 69 when we headed out. 7-9 FOW is pretty consistant in that area and so the temps also average about the same overall.
  19. Thanks Larry, but as you well know, it's not always as easy as it looks sometimes, but it means alot coming from you.
  20. I just can't get excited about spending all day fish'n for bait though Paul
  21. Best of luck to your Dad Mike. My closest bud for the last 30 odd years just died 2 days ago from this horrible disease.
  22. Some days they can seem as elusive as ghosts Wayne, but their in there, ya just gotta go dig em out
  23. The levels on the West Arm are down a bit from normal, I'd say maybe 8"-10", but the water is in great shape and the weed growth is excellent and VERY healthy.
  24. Absolutely Bob, but it's hard to keep those big girls on the BBQ spit
  25. Saw about 6 new ones outside your shop when I drove down hwy 11 Saturday morning Bernie. Quality boats for sure !!
