  1. I stopped into Stacey's last week Steve and he was alot wealthier after I left the store. As for a new purse, I think I may just get her a money belt instead, it may be alot safer
  2. The water isn't really that cold yet, so I don't think I'd be slowing down too much. We were trolling them successfully last weekend on the Larry at close to 5 MPH.
  3. Without doubt, the sweetest musky combo I've ever owned is the one I'm currently using for bucktails & spinnerbaits. It's an 8' medium heavy St. Croix Legend Tournament rod with the split grip handle, paired up with a Calcutta TE 400 and spooled with 80 # Power Pro and 130# Seaguar fluoro leader. Lotsa $$$$ but well worth every hard earned dime.
  4. I was in Lakefield this morning and UltraMar was $1.22 and a block down the road ESSO was $1.27. Guess who was getting all the business ??

    Fall Colours

Thanks Dan, that means alot coming from you.
  6. mmmmmm, pumpkin pie You have a great holiday also TC
  7. From what I read Bill, the fella was just asking a simple question as to whether folks were catching anything in a river and he didn't appear to be asking for specifics. Just my opinion, but lately I think far too many guys are too quick to hammer a new guy for no real reason. As ehg mentioned, things used to be alot more civil around here.
  8. I agree Luke, it is cheaper than alot of areas, but it's still maddening when it jumps 8-10 cents over night but takes 2 weeks to go down the same amount.
  9. I left home last Friday for a fish'n trip and gas was $1.17 and when I got back home 2 days later it was up to $1.24 Nothings surprising anymore.
  10. Thanks guys, nice to hear everyone likes a feel good story. And Cliff, yer a good man, but I spent all the loot last night so you'll just have to settle for an attaboy
  11. We went into town this morning and did the weekly grocery shopping, then while I was loading the bags in the truck, my wife went to the stores ATM and withdrew some money. Hours later at home, Diane went into her purse for something and realized the $160 she'd withdrawn wasn't there. We looked everywhere but couldn't find it. She took a longshot and called Foodland and sure enough, some honest sole had found the cash laying on the floor beside the ATM and turned it in to the store manager. We drove the 8 miles back into town to pick up the money and hoped the person had left their name and address so we could reward them for their honestly, but they didn't leave it, they just handed in the loot and went about their business. Sure is nice knowing there's still good folks in this world.
  12. I spose there's folks that think about joining this board, then read replies like those posted above, and move on to other boards.
  13. Multiply fathoms X 6 and that'll give you depth in feet.
  14. I'll be back as always Mike, just so long as you don't force anymore of those Philly samiches on me
  15. Great picture Mike and thanks for giving me back my boat

    Ice cleats

They look similar to the ones in my original post that are sold in LeBarons darsky. If I remember correctly I think they were around $17 but I've looked at so many today the numbers are all starting to run together
  17. Just too many musky stories end up going down the tube lately Eric so I don't usually bother posting much anymore.

    Ice cleats

OK, thanks Shane, I think I've decided on the HT's after all the positive remarks about them.

    Ice cleats

Thanks cuzza, better the straps are too long rather than too short as that'd be an easy fix. And CPH, you make a good point but I certainly won't be putting on the miles you do, I only do about 1 1/2 miles each morning and the cleats will only be used the odd time the road is ice covered....which was actually quite often last year with all the freezing & melting we had going on.
  20. OOPs, I posted something in the wrong thread, sorry bout that...
  21. Yes Eric, I've been fortunate and after 40 years of chasing muskies I've boated alot of fish between 48 @ 50 and even a few Kawartha fish over 50, although 50+ is rather infrequent in this area. Strange as it seems though, I'm on Clear and just a short run from Stoney, but I almost never fish either lake and spend most of my time now on Chemong, Upper Buck & Pigeon.

    Ice cleats

I went to the CTC site and looked at those HT cleats and they look great, but reading the couple reviews available it sounds like there's a problem with the velcro straps not fitting too well. Any of you HT users have a problem with the straps ??
