  1. I guess the best way to sum up our trip was we had a blast Joey, it's always fun spending time with you & Paul and as always it was great seeing John & Barb again too. Catching muskies is what it's all about, for me anyways, but if their not around we still always seem to have a fantastic trip anyhow and as long as Dianes catching the odd pike, she's having a ball. As expected your pictures turned out excellent & if you don't mind, I'll borrow a few, specially the one of Diane, it turned out great. Hope Ralphies feeling better, the bugs really seemed to zero in on the poor little guy. Lousy luck having that flat too. Here's a couple pics I got of you guys just below the eagle.
  2. I went with a mooring cover plus a full stand-up cover for my boat and am very happy with everything. It's the Sunbrella material and was made by a fella that contracted with Hastings Marine although I don't think he's there anymore, but you could call them if interested.
  3. Yup, it sure is unfortunate, but many of us enjoyed some great times up there over the years so there's plenty of great memories. My wife enjoyed it too and we always spent a week in June and another 2 weeks in August. Life goes on though and we'll now stay at the other camps in the same area and visit Kevin & Leslie every trip up there as we did this trip.
  4. Lakair closed because of illness Dax. Good luck on the Ottawa, it's a favorite spot of mine too.
  5. Every June for alot of years a group of us from this board have gone to Lakair Lodge on the West Arm of Nippissing. Unfortunately the camp has now closed down so myself and my wife & Joey & Tybo headed to another place just up the lake called Mashkinonje Lodge https://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CBwQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.mashkinonjelodge.com%2F&ei=Xz-vU7fTHYyMqAbJzYGoBA&usg=AFQjCNFF5F_8NXO_6P2FPvvzMdpB6FaP0w The place is excellent and the new owners are VERY nice and we enjoyed the place so much my wife and I have already booked for musky opener next year. Anyone looking for a nice place in the area I'd highly recommend this one. I normally do well with the muskies up there but this year, presumably because of the cold spring, the weeds have not grown at all and we just couldn't locate the muskies in the places we always find them. But it doesn't matter because I always say you don't need to catch a fish to have a great fishing trip and this one was no exception. I'll be at Memquisit Lodge in the same area for a couple weeks in August so hopefully the weeds & musky are more prevalent then. I got home this afternoon but Joey will be home later and I'll let her tell the tale and post her pictures seeing as their always better than mine but here's just a couple I took. Any trip with bald eagles & gorgeous sunsets has to be a success no matter how few fish are caught.
  6. Good start to your season Matt.
  7. When I'm fishing up north I sometimes shut the boat down, put away the fish'n pole and just sit back with my feet up and take in what nature has to offer.
  8. Nothing gets the heart pounding like a big musky hammering your bait at boatside in total darkness.
  9. I hear ya Matt, I got this pretty lady last year on the opening week on Nippissing and will be back up there next week looking for her momma. Good luck to you this year.
  10. Heard on Peterboro radio today that the OPP have recovered a bunch of fishing gear that was stolen from various places in the Coboconck area around the end of May. If you had stuff stolen they ask that you contact the OPP
  11. I swear some of you guys go out of your way to turn small things into HUGE things. I just happened to mention that I prefer to unplug my charger when it's not needed, but that's just MY personal choice. If you want to leave yours plug in all the time, that's entirely up to YOU. Really don't know why some things on this board are constantly blown WAAAAY out of proportion all the time.
  12. Maybe the bear just wanted the guys to lead him to a place where he could spend the night LOL
  13. Thanks Mike, it's always a great trip & the forecast is looking pretty good....so far.
  14. Maybe there's a new Wynne tax added on
  15. It works every time Rob
  16. I meant to take this one in earlier too and totally forgot about it till Friday. I was worried they couldn't do it in time but they really came through for me.
  17. Global says it's confirmed it was a tornado that hit Angus. Hope Fisherman is OK
  18. I've never personally seen a tornado and hopefully, it stays that way.
  19. Good to hear Dave, I remember the big one that hit Barrie years ago and killed...I think...18 people.
  20. I'm heading north on Saturday for a 7 day musky trip and wanted to be sure my #1 reel, a Calcutta TE 400, was working as good as possible so I dropped it off at Shimano in Peterboro Friday afternoon. They just called to say it's all ready. It was completely stripped down & cleaned in some sort of bath, reassembled with new drag washers and lubricated and made like new again. All for $30 Pretty impressive in my books.
  21. That's a scary picture Dave, hope it's all good for your Dad.
  22. Pay attention guys, it could get nasty over your way..
  23. Very nice indeed.
  24. If you've never used these type of shelters before, be sure to keep the snow off them in winter as they don't always stand up too well to the heavy weight.
  25. My guess is this thread will be locked before the political one, but I have been wrong before.
