Skid marks and all. LOL Dan.

Check if there's an authorized repair center near you for their products? Having it repaired by whoever may void your warrantee, if anything else happens; that it cannot be repaired? Dan.

Our neighbor's cat is no longer with us, after it decided to taste the lilly's in our back yard. Pretty sad really, it was only a couple of minutes after it ate the plant; that the cat was on its side paddling with foam coming out of its mouth. The cat only lasted an hour or so after getting it to the vet. Dan.

Just had a look at their web site and saw this. "The Outcast Power Drifter: Anglers are ImpressedFishing and standing go together, so the Outcast Power Drifter makes for an ideal platform to serve as the only fishing craft you and your buddy will need. With quality construction, a capacity of 500 pounds, and an outstanding warranty, the price you pay for this drift boat will pay off over many years of use. A Look at the Craft At $1,100, this inflatable fishing boat offers stability and buoyancy from its AIREcell PVC-coated shell and oversized pontoons. The Outcast Power Drifter offers a drop-through section at the rear of the rigid inflatable floor for a motor. The boat comes with a 10-year, no-fault warranty." Wouldn't hurt to contact them? Dan.

It doesn't matter where you live or have to drive too; people are people and we all have had brain farts and screwed up behind the wheel at one time or another. We just need to learn from the mistakes we've made; but I do agree that these lessons seem to be hard for some to learn. I believe stronger fines are in order and not just monetary; but mandatory class room time and driving sessions with a trainer. Wouldn't be all that hard to implement; get a speeding ticket and you get an 8 hour safe drive class, that must be completed within the next 3-4-6 months? Don't comply you loose your license. Dan.

X2 The dragstrip in Sparta or now known as the St. Thomas Raceway opened in 1962. Sparta was a very small little village and the dragstrip was more then welcome; due to the money it would bring into the community. Now 50+ years later and after a bunch of non racers have moved into the village; there is a non stop fight with the "new" residents trying to have the dragstrip shut down. Come on people, you must have known that a dragstrip means noise; why in the hell did you buy a house there? Dan.

Just had a look in the shop here and I have a piece of 1/8" aluminum checker plate 5 1/2" wide and about 4' long. You're welcome to it; if you can/want to come too London? Dan.
-
Do a Canada 411 search for "metal" in your your area; I just tried it here for London and got a number of hits. Tell them what size you want and most shops will cut it for you and brake it, at whatever angle bend you might need. Dan.

14ft of 6 gauge wire enough to start new 40hp Yammy?
DanD replied to Fish4Eyes's topic in General Discussion
I put the battery in the trunk of my 50 Chevy; used #4 cable from the battery positive terminal to the starter terminal. The voltage drop across the 15 foot cable, (even after extended cranking) is approx .08 of a volt and that's cranking a 4.8Lt V8 engine. If you already have the #6 cable, I wouldn't be afraid to use it. Dan. -
If that's the cabin on top the rock facing the chancel of Indian Island; then be ready for the bats that live there. LOL They're not an issue but there are a lot of them; between the roof line and the covered porch. The only time we'd notice them during daylight times, was when we were having a BBQ; they don't like the smoke. Some how one got into the cabin, didn't realize it until the middle of the night, when I felt something crawling up my chest. Man I squealed like a 12 year old girl; when I saw its glowing eyes, about 6 inches from my face. LOL Have a great time; we always did; staying there. Dan.

As long as the container has been sealed tight, as to no moister getting in (Milky colour) the oil should be fine. Give the bottle a good shake and have a look see. Dan.

Princess Auto has it. $11.00 per foot, 4 feet wide/ http://www.princessauto.com/en/detail/heavy-duty-check-plate-rolled-rubber-mat-by-the-foot-/A-p8397325e Dan. -
Pedal power? https://www.k-tor.com/power_box.php Dan.

De nada. Dan.

At 23K I would be asking them why they are not machining them under warrantee? Unless the rotors are blued from "aggressive" braking; I would have them machined. Yes they'll warp again being thinner; but you'll at least get full use of the brake pads life. By the time you hit 50K the pads and rotors will need replacing anyways. Dan.
-
Next time try one of these step drill bits. You can get them at Princess Auto. http://www.princessauto.com/en/detail/g-r-i-p-2-pc-jumbo-titanium-coated-high-speed-steel-step-drill-bit-set/A-p8487035e The quality is about normal for PA stuff; but it'll work long enough for the number of holes I'd ever need to drill that large. Dan.

I agree 100% with you and that's what we do here as well; tell them what we find and then stand back and let them ask the questions and make up their mind; as to what they want doing. But I have seen it over and over again; that a customer is all but bullied into a repair by (some) dealership's advisers, trying to hit their sales quota or if they're on commission. Dan.
-
Forgot to add; why do you think so many dealerships are now giving away 1,2 or 3 years worth of FREE oil changes. It's to draw you back into their shop and a chance to hit you up for all their other recommended maintenance items; that you are going to pay through the nose for. OR a free tire rotation; they don't give a crap about your tires wearing evenly; they want to have a look at the brakes. Dan.

If the work being done is customer pay; then any licensed garage or the vehicle's owner can do the work. We must use S.A.E. approved materials and oils that are approved by the manufacturer; like GM's 5W30 Dexos or an oil that has been approved by GM as a substitute for Dexos. Pennzoil has bough out a synthetic blend that GM begrudgingly has put their rubber stamp on. A number of years ago there was a large suit brought out by the after market parts suppliers, against the auto manufacturers. People were being denied warrantee, because they had things like a Wix or Fram oil filters on their vehicle. The courts agreed with the after market people, after it was proven that their filters were as good if not better then what the factory were installing. Long story short, the only time you must go to a dealer, is if you're not paying for anything. The manufacturer legally cannot use the threat of voiding warrantee on maintenance items; when/if the work and material is not supplied by them. Drifter's deal is different, there are no dealers in his area; that would be handled on a case per case situation. Dan.

Finally splashed the boat today, finally.

For SeaFoam Simcoe CTC has 57 cans Delhi CTC has 27 cans @ $12.49 + Tax Normandale Hidden Valley Camp ground. At my trailer I can bring you as many cans as you want @ $10.00 Tax included. Also included in this offer is a cold beverage of your of your liking; as long as I have it in my bar. Which could turn into a free meal and a nights stay, if you've had one to many of the adult beverages. As for the power loss at high RPM; does the boat have an in-board fuel tank? If an in-board tank and the filter and bulb does not fix this; you my want to check if the sock filter/screen in the tank on the fuel pick-up tube is not partly clogged? Dan. -
The work is out there for the young people who want it bad enough. Both my kids set their goals and worked their asses off to meet it; they didn't wait for someone to hand them the jobs they have. The only thing is, they've been so busy with their careers that I don't have any grand kids yet. LOL Dan.

Just a thought but maybe give "Stitch It" a call? http://stitchit.co/store-locator/ In their services listings, they say they do curtain alterations and leather; so they have the bigger machines. They might also be a bit cheaper then an upholstery shop? Dan. -
Experience and education always goes hand in hand. (IMO) As for the need to know someone, it sure does help; but not always needed, if you've shown your capabilities. My son was all but raised here at my garage; he was mig welding his own push carts together when he was 10. He grew up working on cars and projects; he's a car nut 100%. After high school he went for his BA in automotive engineering; shortly after graduating university, he landed a job at Cooper Standard. He was put in charge of designing, building computer controlled engine mounts for the 2016 Camaro and the Caddy CTS-V. and then selling Cooper Standard's offering too GM. After the contract was signed and sealed, for Cooper Standard; the lead engineer of the Chevrolet division approached Andy with a job offer. He's is now working in Warren Mich. at GM's technical center; put in charge of engine, transmission and body mounts for North American trucks; the youngest person ever offered this position in GM's history. 28 years old, pulling a 100 grand (US) a year; with all kinds of room for advancement. Yea I'm bragging; but the point is, he got these jobs on his own; he knew no one at Cooper Standard or GM. GM headhunted him, after they saw his work with the Camaro and Caddy. Dan.

Still remember when I bought my first Mac Tool's tool box; I was 17 or 18 then. I was so proud to tell my Dad that I got it cheep at $1800.00; he asked what tools came with it? When I told him that it was an empty box he flipped. LOL Used that box up to about 20 years ago; had to replace it when the bottom rusted out. The replacement was around 10 grand and yes it was empty as well and it was my wife that flipped out on me that time. LOL Dan
