  1. No do not remove a bench, work around them. Casting deck no higher then the front bench. Move battery(s) up front under deck for ballist. Floor only 1/4 as wide as gunnel hight. Follow these ball park guide lines and most any boat can have what you're wanting. Dan.
  2. Hope not nope to meet you. LOL
  3. I have never met you or your wife but though the forum I feel I know you. I'm so happy that you two are coming to the end of this hard journey and starting a whole new life together in a new home. You have no idea of the friends you have here; nope to meet you one day sir. Dan.
  4. You'd never get me in one of those. Punta Cana 2013, lm sitting on the beach watching one of these things taking people up. Heard the engine start to sputter and then quit. The next I saw was the boat and wing doing a pinwheel straight down and crash in the ocean. Both were killed on impact. So no thank you a plane is a plane an inflatable boat is a boat and accomplished captains need to be in charge of the machine. Dan.
  5. I'm not so worried about them sticking; it's the corrosion breaking away after the wheel is bolted back on, allowing the wheel to become loose. Dan.
  6. Just to add to this, make sure the mating surfaces of the wheel and the hub are 100% clean; especially on aluminum wheels. Wire brush or sandpaper it right down to bare metal; a coat of paint if you like but it must be clean and smooth. Dan
  7. Cliff. Just leave it there in the house; the new owners will either make use of it or get rid of it. Dan.
  8. That is a good deal, I come in at about 60 buck less but no road hazard. I'll have to talk to my supplier! LOL Good shopping Lew! Dan.
  9. What's the size Lew, not just the rim size; I would like to see where my shop stands with your supplier? Dan.
  10. Hire a rent a cop to baby sit the trailer for the three nights; that there was product in the trailer. Hide the trailer somewhere at night, rather than leaving it behind your place of business. Rent a self storage cubical large enough to fit the trailer in. Yes extra work and cost; but they'd still have their client's property. I'm sorry but I think they got complacent; thinking good enough to keep the trailer safe. Dan.
  11. Not sure if this would apply too you, when you say seat; but if you mean bench seat this is what I did on my old 12 footer. Get a small piece of thin plexiglass, about a 1/2 inch bigger then the diameter of the suction cup. A few dabs of hot glue and stick the glass onto the bench. Now you have a smooth porous free place for the suction cup to hang on too. When not using the mount the plexiglass is thin enough that its not in the way. Worked to hold my handheld gps for as long as I owned that boat. I forgot to add that I did the same thing to the outside of the transom. It was for the suction cup on the transducer of portable fish finder. No more issues with the transducer blowing off when under power. Dan.
  12. No they're like humans; they like to screw things up in the ecosystem. Dan.
  13. Seafoam is a cleaner, conditioner and a stabilizer; it cannot fix a mechanical or carburetion issue. If there is some form of dirt in a carb's fuel passageway, then a lot of times the seafoam will clean it out. But if an air bleed is plugged with dirt, seafoam won't help you because the treated fuel doesn't go through an air bleed; only in coming air does. Been a mechanic for close to 40 years now and have never believed in the snake oil fuel and engine treatments; but seafoam does seem to do all it claims it can. I always have at least one case of the stuff on the shelf here at the shop; we go through a lot of it. Dan.
  14. I know what you mean about finding people that are truly interested in and are capable of working in today's trade. For the last several years, I brought in coop students from the local high school. A lot of them show up here for an easy credit or that's what they think. I ask my 2 techs to throw the kid right into the electronics of today's vehicles. Looking up specs, connecting scan tools, pulling codes and finding diagnostic information. It only takes a couple of hours to find out whether the person has the reading and comprehension skills, that are required in today's techs. The good kids are right into it and are excited about the electronics aspect of the trade. The not so good kids end up broom pushers or bench warmers. Out of the 20 - 30 kids I had go through the shop, I've only had 3 or 4 of them that I was willing to help find a placement and get their apprenticeship started. Two of them now have their inter Provincal license; they stop in every once and a while and it makes me feel proud of them that they followed through. Dan.
  15. Break Out Another Thousand Thats got to hurt his pride as well as his wallet. Dan.
  16. I'm sorry here; but who in their right mind would store all those antlers in a trailer; unless they wanted the antlers to disappear? Dan.
  17. The water is warm all over. We were in Elk Lake a week or so ago and the river temp was in the high 70s - low 80s; that's the warmest I've seen the Montreal river. Dan
  18. There are new safety inspection requirement that came into affect July 1st. This is what they say about license plate lights. license-plate lamp Would fail inspection if. - not white, fails to illuminate license plate when operated by headlamp control - lamp not shielded from projecting light rearward. Yes this is for light duty and passenger vehicles; but it also includes trailers. I can't find the actual highway traffic act number for this; but if you search E-Law long enough you will. Up until these up dated regs, the only light that a cop could write you up for is no license plate light. Once the cops get up to speed on these new regulations they'll be able to write you up on any light on the vehicle the is not functioning as intended. Here's a link to the new safety regs reference hand book, If it's in the safety inspection regs, a cop can act on them. http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/trucks/pdfs/passenger-light-duty-vehicle-inspection-standard.pdf Dan.
  19. Forget all these phone calls, go down there and see them in person. If you don't like what they have to say, take your motor home with you. You never know once they see how serious you are, about wanting the motor back; they might put it on a higher priority? You did tell them you were not in a "mad rush" and they may have took you by your word. I know when a customer drops of their car and tells me that, I do take them at their word and go on to another vehicle where I can make a few bucks; before doing their car. Its business; make hay while the sun shines. Dan.
  20. One phone call to any Nissan dealer, with the VIN # and mileage; will tell Cliff what warrantee is left on the vehicle. Dan.
  21. Yea I can get a Fram # CF10550 for around $24.00 and it's comparble to OE. I can also get one for around $7.00; but it be better to leave the dirty one in. The cheap ones collapse, with just the air flow going through them. As for the vid, I would have like to see how badly deformed the filter ended up being; After "just squeezing the middle a little bit". LOL Dan.
  22. Its none of my business Lew; but you being a retired firefighter, is there nothing in your retirement package? Dan.
  23. Or go the route I did, with my 50 Chevy. $48.00 a year for full insurance coverage; due to it being classed as historic. Cheep driving after the inital cost of purchase and restoration. Dan.
  24. I think Lew is more of a Ford man. So maybe on of these 2016 GT40s would be a better fit? LOL Dan.
  25. CAA Has worked well for my family members, that needed hospitalization while out of Canada. A three day stay in hospital, while in Floriida came to better then 12 grand. Invoice sent to CAA, the amount paid and my mother inlaw walked out not owing a dime. She is 80 now and just bought insurance again from CAA for a two week stay in St. Lucia; $485.00 but she has 100% coverage. Dan.
