  1. Worm and hook for hardwater trout? Interesting.
  2. For pannies- jiggin rap For walleye- 1/4 oz knuckleball chartreuse and orange. Unless I'm on Quinte then nothin beats a CC spoon IMO. For lakers- mepps cyclops or airplane. For pike- No lure required, just a big dead minnow and a good baitholder hook. Or snag someone else's line LOL For brook trout- no clue, can't ever get em
  3. Sometimes mornings too
  4. Reading Trent river fishn's story about losing a tip up reminded me about a funny thing that happened to me about 15 years ago ice fishing near Parry Sound. My brother and I had fished for hours without even a sniff. We were just about to pack it in when I got a hit. I set the hook(felt weird) and all of a sudden my drag is screamin! I yell at my brother to come help because I think I got the loch ness monster on the end of my rod. Fought this thing for about 5 minutes back and forth until I started winning. I tell my brother to get ready because it's getting close. The next thing you know a branch comes out of the hole. What the heck is that I scream. My brother says you caught a stick with some line on it and there's a monster pike on the end!! He grabs the stick and try's to hand line it and snap(hate that sound) the dang line breaks Big pike gone. Only fish we saw in 3 days. One lucky pike.

  18. I never rinse my fish after brining, I put them on a rack, dab them with paper towels and then let them dry until the pellicle forms. The pellicle gives the smoke something to stick to. IMO it's the most important step when smoking fish
  19. Smoked some salmon the other night that I pulled from the freezer. Thawed the fillets and then brined them for about 12 hours. Pulled em out of the brine and let them dry and smoked with some cherry wood. It was awesome!!
  20. St.Croix legend and a shimano stradic is what I mainly use but shimano makes some great rods and reels at a very reasonable price.
