  1. Maybe a bit too much information. No strip search? Welcome to Ontario and enjoy your trip Tennessee Volunteer.
  2. Awe inspiring Adam. I never was able to crack the starting 5 in High School, when it was a 1 room school house, actually not that long ago but a while back for sure. You guys represent us with pride. As for fishing from shore, next year take a ride to Haldimand County. The carp in May are stacked up like cordwood. After opening Bass are here from shore as well. Many accessible spots all along the county from Dunnville to Nanticoke. Take a road trip next year. PM me in the spring if I'm still here. If you can't catch 20 nice Bass in an hour at the right spot you must not have a hook on.
  3. Plus he's a busy man with all his canning etc. I have never met him but have been trying to get him out for a fish on Erie this year as my guest, weather and schedules haven't complied. Big Cliff and Big Ugli are cut from the same Big cloth.
  4. Fisherman, from what I have been told it doesn't remove water from the fuel it separates it and the water evaporates. Which really is removing water from the fuel I imagine. Then I'm told this year from the local Marine that our gas today is only good for 30 days then pockets or globules of glug form in the tank. So now what? I use 2 plus 4 during the season then use a few cans of Seafoam in September depending on useage. It has worked for me, one crank in the spring and bang start up. Maybe because it's a 20 year old Merc Mariner and never use regular gas, maybe because I do what I do, probably because I'm lucky.
  5. Canuck2fan, yea that's a story for sure. I believe you. Joey, not a 11 pound Large Mouth but my brother did get a 16" Perch that was as fat as long. Had it in a cooler and was looking for a good scale to see if it may have been a record for Ontario, when he got back to the picnic table his father in law was almost finished cleaning it. Mr. Lefko was Polish as well, that has nothing to do with anything, what a wonderful man, rest in peace Johnny L. I love old tales. Reminds me of an old joke, Buddy was a downhomer and every time he came into the Legion he would describe how big a Cod he caught be spreading his arms out. One day the boys said we'll fix ole Buddy and handcuff em, lets see how big his fish is today bey. So they handcuff ol Buddy and ask him How big today brudder? Ole Buddy makes a circle with both his hands and says " The eye was this big buy!"
  6. We have been waiting to get out on Erie for some fall deep water smallies. Of course this AM is the first day there haven't been Kookamunga surfs up breakers, calm water and beautiful sun and warm and we all have appointments booked. I say to Featherstone Ted come hell or high water Monday or Tuesday looks good based on Bing weather. Monday calling for high winds of 17K and 16C, Tuesday 15KPH winds and 20C!!!! He calls me after dinner and asks what crazy reports am I getting and sure enough windfinder.com is calling for 60 to 72 KPH winds both days. I know the weather is what it is but jeeze talk about a difference! We have the advantage of looking out the window and looking at the lake here. But what about guys that drive out more than an hour to find a hurricaine? Gas ain't cheap!! Who do you believe? What weather predictions service do you prefer? We are running out of soft water days. A difference of 60KPH is ridiculous, no?
  7. I know what your saying about cheap US beer. My uncle from North Tonawanda used to join us on our trips, still does once a year at 81!!!!! Actually just south of Alexandria Bay. It was his job to bring the Old Milwaulkee across the ditch at, ready, $4.99 a case of 24. and the chicken wings at 5 bucks for a 10 pound bag. I think you are right about the food competition in that lake, but to see Pike like that is strange for sure, they would be on the top of the food chain I believe. If there are Walleye and Perch there are small Pics and Perch. We still make Boiler Makers with the cheap US beer. A shot of CC sure boosts the % alcohol of the US pony pee.
  8. It's actually easy to get an ATV stuck on tracks. Spin the wheel into the loose stone until you are up to the axle and it's stuck. Yea he's a duffus nimnod but death? No not a death, a good beating would suffice I think. I'll hold him you hit him. I bet it won't be his last dance with drinking and driving, it usually never is until something tragic does happen unfortunately.
  9. That's a trip you will remember for life. We've been up that far in June many moons ago. Snowball fights in the morning, suntan lotion in the afternoon, fished in daylight very late. Some of those Pike look very thin. Housekeeping boys? Man you guys brought a lot of stuff. My favorite picture is the CTC safety kit on the bottom of the boat next to the empty Pop cans, Bud????? They should revoke your Canadian Passports for drinking that stuff, Bud? Looks like a blast, good going boys. I'm glad to see the life jackets on. Invest in an inflatable, very comfortable, especially casting in a small tinny. Budweiser?
  10. We all have our own " Fishing Tales ", some far fetched no matter how true. I heard a Duezzy the other day from one of our local legends. He Had a hole in one of his boots and got a soaker getting into the boat. As he was wringing out his red and white sock his other sock was hanging over the side of his tinny. As he went to grab the sock a 52" Musky grabbed onto it and the fight was on. He got the Musky into the boat but had a huge hole ripped in his favorite pair of socks. He told this with a strait face. His pal of 50 years says Richard has told this story so many times he actually believes it. My true story is we were fishing the Ottawa one opening week. A pal bought a new fangled stringer and when he went to put another fish on it was gone, bad plastic rope (not bad knot). A few hours latter I got a huge Walleye on and when it came to the surface it was on the same stringer with 3 other fish on it. Straight goods true story, I swear. What is your craziest so unbelievable Fish Tale it has to be true?
  11. He packed up his locker after the game never to return again.
  12. My Bills squeaked one into the win column. That defence looks for real, gave up only 7 to a good offence And Kyle Orton? I thought he was doing TV.
  13. Yep that's Italia. They sure don't live like we do. Listen, by the time it's your 20th your wife may encourage you to celebrate with hunting and fishing, maybe even without her.
  14. Small town eh bh? If you decide you want to take a ride to see Big Cliff I let me know, I might take a ride if you aren't on medication. I need to meet this larger than life OFC legend.
  15. Yea he went but when he got back he asked his wife where she packed his toothbrush, "in your tackle box!!"
  16. Oh my, another thing to think about, damaging my pivot point and hydraulics as well as the boat flying off the trailer. If the winch strap, 2 ton safety chain and s hook break as well as both rear straps break I think I have more to concern myself than my boat flying off. My truck would probably doing 360's down the mountainside by then. I'm not sure what stress the pivot points and hydraulics have going at 5000 rpm but if I'm not too concerned with that I shouldn't be too concerned about some pressure on the hydraulics against the V in the transom saver. I don't think the hydraulics are under much pressure at all unless I forget to take my finger off the tilt control, yes, no? When I have absolutely nothing better to do and done everything else in life I'll put a pressure gauge on a hydraulic line and see what pressure the line is under when I set the transom saver. I'm going to guess that the bracket holding he pin for the transom saver will bend before the fuse goes for the hydraulic pump. After writing this it looks like I have nothing better to do already.
  17. bh87ss, Johnny Miller is the tree guy out here and he lives very close to you, Glancaster Rd just north of Haldibrook west of Mines Rd. I bet he would be happy to show you. He likes a few brown pops now and then as a tip. He is in the book. If not I have the number somewhere, PM me.
  18. I have tried and tried but never got that knife through butter sharpness we all like. Now I let the guy do it, you know "the guy" that makes it look like childs play. I don't use the saw often. Talking about the pro's re sharpening their chains we had a pro out here all winter cutting down huge ash's. I was watching him and swore I saw sparks coming out on some cuts. He said it's the iron in the trees. Being along the lake sand actually gets into the wood and we have red iron laden sand here that actually will get into the tress during growth. He said he will no longer takes jobs in the north end of Hamilton where all the steel mills are (were). The trees are loaded in ferrous particulate and they chew up his expensive chains. I tend to believe everything I am told. Is he pulling my chain?
  19. What is the physics behind " pulling " a boat off the trailer? Something I've never heard or gave a thought to As for how much pressure to apply that's a good point, I have a tilt button on the side of my 115 so I drop the motor until it is snug, back it off and then snug it up again, that's it. I can see putting too much pressure on the hydraulics if you can' see the motor pushing against the "Y" in the bar. My pal has a 90 and has to use the tilt on the main control, it's tricky for him to do it solo.
  20. Nice to be on the water at this time of year, especially with people you are close to. Those are some nice pics there Spiel, saved the black and white. Your girl has a good eye. How's that mobile 5 star hotel working out? All the comforts of home, just don't crawl in the back for a nap and put her in cruise control.
  21. I just took a run to Nipissing towing my 19 footer with a 115 and kicker on it and got a respectable 14.5L/100K,2011 V8/4X4 Silverado. I didn't do over 110 KPH, no start and stop on any highway and always run with the towing mode on, always. I can't complain with that at all. When you do the math an extra liter per 100 KMS is about $1.40 per 62 miles. Pennies per mile, but it adds up. I always put in the high test when pulling the boat for a longer distance. I will put in the good stuff every 3rd fill up as I do very little if any driving over 90 KMH, the entire county doesn't have a 100 KPH highway. I don't know if it matters but I feel it can't hurt, can it?.
  22. I don't think you drag the hose across a million dollar car. I won't on my $1500.00 car. He could have thrown a gallon of fuel on the car and he wouldn't be 100% liable, cars aren't supposed to catch fire when fuel touches it, it's not a Pinto or Corvair.
  23. Have always had one. Never thought about bolts loosening, why would they loosen? There is a great write up on Proctor Marine website about the advantages of using one by Larry Mellor. I have seen transoms flexing while driving down the highway behind a boat. I can't see why anyone with anything heavier then a 9.9 wouldn't use one. I also strap a rubber bungee around the bottom of the lower unit to the end of the transom saver. I don't want to drop a transom saver on the road after hitting an unseen pot hole. Overkill? I don't know but Larry does it and I bought his boat so that's what I do too.
  24. You guys aren't alone when it comes to Italo. There aren't many shows out there I do like, In Fisherman is one I will watch up until the Bible class by Al. I actually cancelled WFN a few years back. I can get my fill on Saturday mornings. If I want to watch a half hour infomercial I'll stay up late. One pal I have actually will watch his show for 7 minutes then change channels and not go back to it, when questioned as to why he said he was told it takes 7 minutes for the rating system to kick in then tuning out reflects in a poor rating or some such thing. Now that's really not enjoying someone, and be serious about it. Like the show or not one must admit there aren't many that know their stuff as well as Italo.
  25. Spincast, what caught whom? Looks like you're in Cabo maybe? Beauty of a fish there. Congrats. Now that will be enough rubbing it in sir, enough already.
