I was told not to lip them. Can I say that here? That's pushing bad taste for sure. Both cameras are beautiful tools from what I read, You get what you pay for. Nice, but not in the budget

Looks like a double thread on the same subject. Crazy.

Largest Ice Fishing Tourney, 20,000 holes?
Old Ironmaker replied to Nipfisher's topic in General Discussion
Just when you think you have seen it all. Looks like they drilled the 20,000 holes following a chalk line. I wonder if someone made a calculation as to the stability of the ice with all 20,000 anglers and 20,000 holes that close together. Time to make Simcoe look like Swiss Cheese and put 30,000 ice nuts out there? Only in America eh? Got to give them credit, very cool to pull it off. If it was here and a perch fishery you are looking at a 1 million fish limit. Wow wa we wa. -
Mani2bass, I think that was the Carolina New England game, yes had to be 2001. We served Carolinian BBQ pulled Pork and Crab Rolls. No way I was feeding those Hamilton hooligans Lobster, they would have eaten us into the poor house. But it was real crab, I don't know what ocean it came out of though. Actually had someone drive down to Niagara Falls NY and got the real deal Crab Roll buns. That was a great game regardless of the half time Tom Foolery. Wardrobe malfunction, yea that was a new one. No one caught my mistake that Denver played the Pats for the Super Bowl. Can't happen can it?

You folks are making me hungry. I had to read the Pot Brownie suggestion a few time before I got it. Super Bowl Sunday is the day domestic violence calls to the Police are the highest of the year. If everyone ate or smoked pot instead of drinking shots and chasing them with beer or some other imported powder or pills domestic violence would drop instead of rise. I don't smoke stupid stick but can tell you when I worked the doors at the bars way back when Moses was a teenager and we had the bar after I left the plant I never, ever, not once had a problem with someone high on weed, even at the steel company come to think about it. One puffer fell asleep one night and the staff never checked the stalls before closing, a big, big no no. Forget the safe you can have 10 grand in food and booze there for the taking. The motion detector triggered an alarm at 5AM and I got a call from the security company as well as the building super, I told the security company to silence the alarm and call the Police as I was an hour away. The cops could clearly see someone quietly sitting at the bar. When I got there 45 minutes latter (one Cop mentioned that, sharp young lady) there was what I thought was the entire downtown division of the city Police dept. outside. I called the bar but the intruder didn't answer. I went up to the window to see if I could see who it was and this with a strong protest of the staff Sgt. It was a young puffer who I called Johnny Chicodia, I'm not sure of the spelling but chicodia means dandelion in Italian, or in other words "weed". I opened the door and asked what the f*#k sakes was he doing. He fell asleep before closing time and then when he woke up everyone was gone. He went to let himself out the alarm went on and he was trapped and frightened, really felt for the poor kid. He didn't answer the phone because he remembers me saying absolutely no one was allowed to go behind the bar besides staff. So I sent the cops away and got the $100.00 fine for a false alarm. I could have had him charged with trespassing and save the 100 bucks, no way, this kid wouldn't harm a fly and if anyone was going to get a goof tax it was the bouncer who didn't check the facility before lock up. Anyway I made Johnny and myself a big breakfast and he left. But not before he asked of it was OK to fire up a blunt, I said are you nuts? He replied " There's no one here Dude" I'm here Johnny Chicodia, I'm here!! Now that's a thread hi jacking for sure.

As far as the overly hyped day where multi millions ( heard it's close to or more than a billion) of dollars change hands I'll remember what my dear Uncle Chuck whom was born in Lexington Kentucky and raised in North Tonawanda in western NY said one Grey Cup Sunday. As we sat waiting for the kick off that Sunday that was sometime before 1959 he simply said, " I wish we had something like this ( Grey Cup week) for our leagues in the states". That was in the days the CFL eastern and western conference championships were a 2 game total point playoff series. I'm either getting old or remember everything I have ever heard from birth. As Rodbender said the team I have a square on or my measly dime bet on is the team I want to win the Lombardi. Or if the Bills are in I pay money to have my heart broken, again and, and, and again.

You just can't keep a Viking Warrior from landing a beauty blond Mermaid. You got me on that one. What's the best way to handle a blond as to not harm them when you handle her? A great report Bunk and very refreshing, no same old same old from Bunk. Reading your early prose out load I swear I'm back visiting at Sydney Steel in the 80's. There was a transplanted Irishman at the plant who's favorite saying was " Me can't says fer sure but I heerd it." Classic. I have always enjoyed your Winter pics. What camera are you using if I may ask Bunk? Please see PM. Thanks for the great read and see. Johnny D

The largest annual sporting event comes this Sunday. Largest in single game viewership world wide and highest dollar grossing annual event. I don't even know what stupid dollar value it is now for a 30 second commercial, I know it was a million a few years ago. Not withstanding all the over inflation (sorry) and hype who do you like Pats or Seahawks. We have a local get together every year and I try to make a regional food from each teams location. This year it's New England Clam Chowder and a variety of Salmon dishes. It's seems almost every year it's New England Chowder and something else. Last year it was tough picking a dish from Denver, so someone suggested we eat Horse. Didn't happen. I got 4 cattle hooves from the local butcher and it was used as a garnish on the platter of roast beef. I need to find that picture. Some actually wouldn't eat it because they didn't trust me.

Another "Come on Man!" story. What I would love to know is whom exactly is the "Name Police" in these places? Someone sits at a desk in Hotel DeVille in where ever and says " You can't name your child Moon Unit because they will be confused with Frank Zappa's daughter in the US. I must admit there are some whacked out names given now as well as before. If a kid doesn't like what they are being called then the kid calls himself something else. I liked my name until I went to Kindergarden and Walt Luker said my name meant sh!tter. Somehow I survived. What were my parents thinking, for heavens sakes? I guess I could go on about this story but there has been enough energy wasted powering the communication devices telling it. Little Sh!tter, John D.

I can see open water about spots 5 miles out here, be careful. This lake rises and lowers it's levels constantly. Also NG spewing out of the lake bottom will make the ice very unstable or melt it. I have cut a hole in the ice and found the water level 6" below the ice. We high tailed it out of there tout suite.

It happened in a split second! Updated!
Old Ironmaker replied to Big Cliff's topic in General Discussion
Down here in Haldimand we have 2 small hospitals for 45,000 residence and are only 45 minutes by ambulance to the major facilities in Hamilton. You see a triage nurse and she determines the spot you are put in to see a Doctor based on your symptoms. I have been lucky enough to be seen almost immediately, or is that unlucky? Same as my wife at 03:00. All 3 times in the last 10 years were ambulance calls. Everything is fine now, knock on my wooden head. -

Thank goodness you can now dance. -
There are a few spots out here the giant icebergs haven't choked the shoreline. St. Williams is one. Many spots along Haldimand lakeshore is clear to get a machine in or walk out. I'll take a drive tomorrow and let you know exactly where.
-
Grangers and Bayside have their huts out in St. Williams. They are 50 bucks per person. A few good catches have been reported. They are right at the bottom of the hill strait out of the town of St. Williams. Good luck. See Stomps 6-8 website.

Every neighborhood has a Gladys Kravitz. Some of them believe their McMansions are real. To me the entire neighborhoods that Big Guy described are eyesores. -

Cliff get to a hospital forthwith. Loss of consciousness is a serious condition. I've rung my bell playing ball and at the plant many times but never "knocked out" and am dealing with short term memory loss now. No such thing as a mild concussion. In Ontario if a worker looses consciousness the MOL must be called at it is deemed to be a critical injury. -
Karma... it is a three way street correct?
Old Ironmaker replied to irishfield's topic in General Discussion
Fantastic news sir. -
The only difference between changing a tank at home and at the plant is our operators would change more tanks in a week than in a few years at home. It's the theory of compound exposure to failure. Yes I worked for MOL here in Ontario for a while. Simply put if you pump gas for a living you are more likely to spill gas on yourself than the guy doing it every 10 days.

Welcome Woggy. We have almost gone away from the downriggers here in eastern Erie. Leadcore out back and planners Port and Starboard. I would say 80% of all fish came off the leadcore. I wouldn't even think of stacking, no need with the modern leadcore.

Chronic Pain VS Altitude Help Please
Old Ironmaker replied to FLEX ROD's topic in General Discussion
I have dealt with chronic pain for many years. I have never been told by the multitude of Dr's I have seen elevation would help, otherwise I would have moved many years ago. Humidity yes but not geographical elevation. Where, who has told you this? Very interesting. I hear what you are going through. -
At 77 I hope I know what a rocking chair is.

What kind of electronics do you use on the ice.

A 20 year old Eagle Ultra portable. $100.00 for a bag to carry it? Come on man. For 50 bucks I'll carry it for you. -
They were certainly here in Haldimand County in good numbers cruising the north shore of Erie. So abundant apparently that the MNR gave Samsung the OK to cut down an occupied nest across the road from us on Fisherville Rd. to erect 3 Wind Turbines here in the fall a few years ago. I still want to scream when I think about it. Money and politics can make anything happen. I used to see them every other week before that cut down that nest, not now. I've not seen a single Eagle last year and very few since the hundreds of turbines went up. I have no scientific quantified numbers, just not many sighting by us since, must be co incidence.
