Yes Doug I couldn't believe the difference. I don't know if using a crock pot is cheating. Cook a shoe slow and low and it will be tender. We have one I have never used it.

Maybe late but it was winter here today NF

If I don't gotta be out in it I ain't out in it. But of course there'll be times when choice ain't an option, they can blow in while you're not at home etc. Michael There have been more than a few mornings Michael when I looked outside and told my wife you aren't going anywhere today. The tricky part is getting home as a storm kicks up at quit time. More than once I told her to enjoy your evening in Hamilton with my Mom and Dad. Rick that was a bad time for you. Look what you have now. I can't imagine how I would react, it's all worked out. I actually hope she is better now, you still share kids. -
Drinking and driving continually is a conscious decision not a simple mistake. If someone makes a mistake once or twice and drinks and drives, OK a bad mistake and we pray no one is injured. Drive to a bar, a party, a game or anywhere and that person knows they will be drinking more than 3 in 4 hours and knows they drive home drunk that person is idiotic and stupid. Sorry off topic but I am big on not driving drunk.

4 thumbs up. -
But drinking and driving is idiotic and stupid. That you can't argue that someone that does that isn't.

I had goose 30 years ago at the camp on the Ottawa. I swore then I would never have it again. We do a cook up every 6 weeks and rotate location. It was Teds turn at off shore marina (his shop). He told me they were doing a Goose stew. Then he asked me if I would do the Pickerel. At least there will be something for me to eat, I'm in. The Goose? One of the best stews to date. I guess Louis roasted it in the oven and deboned it. He told Ted it was too tough and dry to eat. Ted put it in a crock pot with stock and veg for 10 hours. It was moist and tender.

I had the exact model year Interpretor I leased and bought out. The worse car I have ever owned in my life, absolutely garbage. I hope you had better luck than me Rick. I had the transmission communication computer module go on me 3 times at 1000 a pop. After the 3rd I drove a nice shinny car into the scrap yard. Diet Coke and Doctor, very popular in Hamilton. I call it a "frozen furnace". Yea I know it doesn't sound good but with some of the top shelf Vodka we get from ???? you need Cola. -
We got a dusting of snow yesterday and this morning. Late this morning I drive out to the Rez to meet the Friday coffee club. About a 25 or 30 minute drive. I head home around noon. The closer I get to the lake the more the wind is blowing, it starts snowing horizontally from the south west. Now with the snow and wind I can not see through the white outs. I can't see the front of the hood on the truck. I can stop and pull over and wait until a 53 foot trac trailer hits me going to the steel plant or oil refinery, crawl along and wait for a loaded truck heading back to the highway. There isn't much you can do but to crawl along. I know a guy that pulled into a farm laneway and got hammered by a tractor one day. It took me almost 1 1/2 hours that usually takes 25 mins, not fun. It doesn't need to snow to get white out conditions. The wind blows the snow from one farmers field across the road to the opposite field, then blows it across again the next day. I'm thank full the wind has died down as my wife is driving home from work along the same route. Get home make a nice stiff Vodka and diet Coke and watch in amazement as I see a wall of snow a few hundred feet high come across the lake doing 30 naughts. It was here and gone. Of course I don't take a picture. That was neat to see. How do you folks handle getting caught in a white out? If you might say stay home if it's windy I would never go out. It's not a co incidence they put 1000 wind turbines here. An oldtimer neighbour here Mr. Mills told me it gets windy around April 1stand doesn't die down until the end of the next March.

My deepest condolences to the family. To call anyone, alive or deceased an idiot or stupid doesn't have a grasp of the English language. There are phrases like " a poor decision, unwise choice, ill informed, made an unfortunate decision etc." But a stupid idiot, no. This man was no kid at 60, he lived there so I am going to guess he was experienced. I have found lately as I get older my friends are also older. Some make poor decisions now that they wouldn't 10 or 15 years ago and it surprises me. In my opinion it is the "I've been doing this for 40 years and never got hurt" so I will be safe reason. That is as dangerous as a impetuous teen or 20 something doing crazy things because they are invincible. An example of senior "stupidity" is drinking and driving at 75 years old because it was nothing years ago now it's a big deal to everyone. I hear that from some older guys, 60 and up. I guess stupid can be used, I change my mind. Drinking and driving is stupid.

When we were kids the CBC advertised Velveeta cheese. They would show all these cream based recipes one could make using Velveeta. We didn't eat "white mans food". That's probably not PC. My bro's and I would yeeew, yuuuck, uggghhh, all through the commercial and Mom banned us from watching it. My very first invite to kids Birthday party and hot dogs and chips were served, I let out a sigh of relief. That was until Mrs. Earle slathered butter on them, I passed. Eventually I became a young man and started dating Canadian girls. I made every excuse under the Sun not to stay for dinner. Finally my girlfriend said her Mom was being offended, so I broke. Roast Beef and a creamy something casserole. I was going to fake a heart attack but I knew they wouldn't go for it because 17 year olds don't have heart attacks and I hate roast beast. I though I was going to pass out from my heart beating at 150 beats per minute and that would have been fine because of all things roast beef!!!!. I took a bite of roast, what's that strange taste and texture. It is soft, warm, tender and that strange taste isn't the 20 cloves of garlic and pound of Oregano my mother cooked it in. Mom would make a roast, take it out of the oven, slice it and stick it under the broiler for 20 minutes, on each side and add some garlic, I swear. So this is what it's supposed to taste like. This I like, no this I love. So now I'm interested in the casserole even though I have been warned for 17 years this day would come and I would have to taste it. I love casseroles. Yours looks great. It took me until I was 30 to accept the fact a can of soup could be used for anything more than soup. Campbell's Golden Mushroom is my favorite for Pork Chops. I still refuse to make gravy from a can, anyone that uses gravy out of a can is on the side of the terrorists.

3 year old and 3 week old fishing...
Old Ironmaker replied to Sterling's topic in General Discussion
Any 3 year old should be accompanied by an adult. If you set lines and try and tell a C.O. you are assisting in angling (which is for non licenced individuals that require assistance based on the disability not those under 18) I bet he charges you. It always comes down to the intent of the law not the loopholes. One example is my Yank cousin getting caught doing 100 MPH on the Queen E. when we went metric and fighting it as he thought it meant 100MPH, duh. Not a good example is it? Good story though. -

In the spring of 14' my sis-in-law slipped into a coma after her cancer surgery and was given last rights. She was at South Lake Hospital in Newmarket. They saved her life. We couldn't be more appreciative of all the staff there. It was a big deal for the hospital too as this doesn't happen enough, TV interviews, print media and radio, she became the poster child for hope. My point is miracles happen John. She drove here for a visit last summer. -

As far as doom and gloom over our environment, it is everywhere. Those that have bought in believe, I do. Then I drive my 4 wheel drive V8's because I don't want my wife to die in a ditch coming home in the dark after work here in the boonies in a blizzard or take our flight south that makes, per passenger, more CO2 than our vehicle does in 300K on the road. Every satellite launched into space for our cell phones and WiFi are equal to a few thousand cars spewing C02 for a lifetime. We buy an "electric car" and burn copious amounts of coal or produce Nuclear waste to charge it. If you have WiFi or a cell phone or have electricity in your home you are a major C02 contributor. So What is your radical solution ? Ride a bike, burn wood to stay warm that isn't good. Windmills, the offset is mining the copper and smelting it for the wiring plus the steel to produce to hold it in the air and, and, and. I'm to badly because I have a water and air polluting 2 stroke, bite me. And I'm supposed to feel guilty. So their point is? Or yours Biteme? I've met you, you seemed cool. Nothing personal for my rant but: Don't believe everything you think you or I know. edit, did I say a few thousand cars for the C02 produced from rocket fuel a few 100,000 cars I read from the internet environmentalists. And a few millions of litres of diesel for a ship per year to bring cheap underwear from China to Walmart. Ever shopped there? I apologize for being harsh but once I feed my family, keep a warm dry roof over their head, get to work, home and the Pharmacy back safely out in the country, and choose to pay 10 bucks for 4 pair of socks and underwear instead of 4 bucks a pair I will continue to pollute. I'm guilty, mia cullpa, so is everyone else. Sorry. By the way the link didn't work, I didn't need to read it to know what it said. That's sad isn't it.

What a waste of 2 minutes of my life. You owe me. I could have pulled out an old Beta of an episode of Al Linder's 1981 series. I have them all. -

Man John that's bad. My empathy for you. The airlines do have bereavement rates if need be. I know a pal that came from BC to TO for 10% of the fare. I know we don't want to plan for the worse but it's reality. Contact them now for a pre approved rate. -

I'll even take dead bait. You fish hardware and I'll do whatever it takes to catch them that day. I'll have a fish fry and you enjoy the Fillet O Fish at the drive thru on your way home. But I will give you that you fished like a Pro on TV. Don't let the lights from the camera blind you.
