Reminiscent of last year. Good for you and getting out there. I'll be out there tomorrow on a different part of the lake.

Awesome post, thanks for sharing this. I've been trying to get out for the last few weeks on my days off but the weather hasn't cooperated. Some amazing memories you've accumulated there for sure.

The infomercial website really threw me off. What's up with that? haha

That's awesome news! Thanks for the info.

Nice to see a musky report. I was gonna get out there for one last shot last weekend but never did it. Good for you on getting out there!

Depends on how much value you'd get out of the boat and then weigh that against the costs. If you're like me and fish a lot then the value far outweighs the costs and it's a no-brainer and well worth it. If you don't see a lot of usage in it's future than I'd look at the decision more closely however a tinny isn't that big a commitment or maintenance.

If I'm following correctly and she was landed twice 20 mins apart... poor crazy fish . I've put down a few pike unwillingly and also tried to revive them forever. Once they get that redish skin tint it's over, even if they're still swimming.

Neat. Did she break off the first time and bite again? You were quite literal when you said "my daughter and I" caught her!

Some beautiful shots you've taken there! Thanks for sharing.

Must of been a great fight. Nice memento for the wall too. That question was actually directed at Irishfield because those big girls are usually so deep in summer.

Nice Pike. Did she come lake trout fishing?

I've considered doing it outdoors and looks like I'm going that route, didn't think it was the greatest idea for redoing the carpet but guess I'll just have to be really careful to wrap it up well. Got lots of work ahead of me this weekend!! Thanks for the help and suggestions.

Fall musky on the larry followed by Philly cheesesteaks... Sounds like a great trip to me! Nice fish.

Anyone know of a place that does short term rentals indoors that could accommodate a 16ft boat? I've tried to find a garage, storage space but it's all too pricey or not available short term. Family/friends garages to narrow. I'm planning on redoing my carpet and I'm having a crazy time trying to find a place to work. Can anyone direct me to a place in the GTA?

Good place to get boat vinyl flooring in the GTA?
JoshS replied to JoshS's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for the tips! I'm checking out the Dek-Master stuff... -
Can anyone recommend a good place to get vinyl flooring in the GTA? Also, recommendations on what materials are better than others? I plan on redoing my carpet in the next few weeks, getting all the supplies together now. Going to lay down vinyl instead of carpet. Also, might be a longshot but if anyone knows of place to rent out to work out of that would be awesome.

Don't stress over it, just get a LED the size you want from a reputable brand, picture quality is all pretty good on tv's nowadays.. samsung's are a great choice. Plasma's aren't ideal for bright rooms, get an LED if it's upstairs in the house.

Nice, thanks for the tip. This kind of clothing is great for the summer. I don't just call it putting on clothes, I call it the "technology". That, quick dry shorts and a pair of crocks when casting all day in the summer is a nice way to spend the day.

I hear great things about the new seagar senshi mono line. http://www.seaguar.com/products/senshi.htm I've always just used XT and never had issues with it or the old excaliber silverthread.

Hi, my name is Josh and I currently live in Toronto. I spend most of my free time fishing. My calendar year starts with finding open water for steelhead and lake O browns. Then pike open, then walleye, then musky which takes me through the summer with a few days of bassin mixed in, than the salmon start to show up at the piers then the steelhead are running again. Fall finds me fishing weekends or days off looking for muskies and afternoons or mornings close to the GTA for steelhead. That's until I get the downrigging for Lake O salmon itch which I've been thinking about for sometime now. One of my favourite feats is learning a new body of water. We have so many great angling opportunities here in Ontario. I'm 29 years old and all I can think about is retiring so I can fish everyday LOL. I think I have a problem, glad I'm in good company here.

MAN you just made me very hungry.

The rainbows never held there, think they were last stocked in 1959. There is however a dying population of walleye from old stocking efforts and a million little largemouth. The lake is full of largemouth .5 -1.5 lbs. Very few big fish mixed in. Regarding access to the lake.. property owners are very strict and there is no public access unless you know someone. Not sure where the money comes.. I know there is a Chalk Lake Cottagers Association.

NF - Keeping kids "unplugged" at the cottage
JoshS replied to Default User's topic in General Discussion
Teach the boys how to catch frogs, bugs and crayfish and bring a tall bucket they can keep them in for a bit. That's hours of entertainment right there. -
Out on the pier various spoons and cranks, it's more all about timing. Big juicy ball of skein in the lower stretches. Roe bags aren't really effective, most fish caught on them are salmon running into the line, then sliding down the line to the hook.

Once in a lifetime thing that you've seen in the outdoors??
JoshS replied to danc's topic in General Discussion
Neat thread. I've not spent a ton of time in northern ontario but down here I saw a hawk grab a squirrel from a tree in my backyard in the city. I had a group of 6 deer walk right past me last winter on the credit like I wasn't even there, could of touched them with my float rod. Do you remember that thread about pike swimming with their head out of water? Well, the first time I saw it I was at a cottage with a bunch of friends long ago and we found an old spear lying around. We were hooting and hollering and jokingly/drunkingly someone yelled, "let's go spear a fish!!" (I know, I know). We proceeded to the dock in the middle of the night to see a big pike swim right up to the foot of the dock in the moonlight with it's head out of the water while I stood there with a big spear in my hand staring at it completely amazed. I obviously didn't spear it to my friends dismay (makes me laugh thinking about it) but still cannot believe it came right up to us under those circumstances. For the record I would never spear a fish HAHA and took the reigns of the spear that night just in case it landed in the wrong hands. One time at a remote lake in Quebec I was fishing off a dock at dawn and a spherical ball of light (baseball size to the eye) cleared the horizon and ripped across the sky. Not sure what the heck that was.
