  1. Must be lotsa guys wishing they went somewhere else eh? Not to mention the women....
  2. Brotherly love... ain't it grand? These guys know each other folks don't let the thread be what it isn't.
  3. There are three good brands of muskie nets in North America. Frabill, Beckman and Stowmaster ...not necessarily in that order. Buy what you think will be good for you, the size fish you're after and, whether you fish alone and the type of boat you have. There's a caveat/addendum I should add to my original post. It really will help.
  4. Dang!!! Sounds tasty...I'll be there in a bit. Need to sort my paperclip trays out first....won't be long.
  5. Just an excellent interpretation of what you see, Lisa. Just by looking at your work it's obvious that you really enjoy it. Keep on doing what you love to do. I don't know of a soul who would or even could negatively criticize your work. Thank you for sharing it with us.
  6. Absolutely beautiful fish Justin and Aaron! Really impressive, thanks for sharing.
  7. When I opened the thread, my first mental image was of Chuck Norris soiling his shorts.
  8. You did good! That lake X is a real winner eh? Congrats to you.
  9. Fishnwire, you have your work cut out for you as there is no internationally recognized standard for fish hook sizes. You'll have to do them one manufacturer at a time. There are no more than 5-6 countries producing big name hooks....USA, Finland, Norway etc... Size charts will be similar but not exactly the same. Good luck.
  10. Way to go Matt! You're doing good.
  11. Her name was Gisèle Benoit.
  12. It might be a French guy. "Aie Jean-Jacques....be quiet an keep your head down...I tink it's a hambush!"
  13. Randy!!!! Your childhood pics are in colour??????
  14. This is a page out of the luremaking.com catalogue which is entirely downloadable from their site. http://www.luremaking.com/howto/bucktails/bucktail1.htm
  15. A landing net and a cradle are two different things and serve different purposes. The landing net is used to hold the fish in the water while hooks are removed...also to help the fish gain some strength after the combat. This time is also used for getting the camera ready should you want a pic of your catch. After the pic is taken, the cradle is used to hold a fish to measure it showing its full length. The cradle is then slid from under the fish and the release procedure begins. Trying to land a muskie with a cradle is a very dangerous undertaking.
  16. These are the US ones...Lewiston is at the bottom of the list. http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/23883.html And here's another collection...ramps are at the middle of the page. http://www.niagararecreation.com/fishing.shtml
  17. Some nice fish there Justin. Thanks for showing them.
  18. I have 4 Compres and they're great. I just had a look at the Cabela's XMLTi and it appears to be a pretty sweet rod as well.....If I needed one, I'd be tempted to try one.
  19. I'd wager that they played it safe and stayed off the water.
  20. Great report Mike. Fantastic pics as well. Thanks for taking the time.
  21. Good on ya Mike. It'll be a really good experience for you too! Keep us posted please and have a great week.
  22. Great report, Joey. Congrats on the fish. Man, I gotta say that Don's boat looks like an official OPP or CG vessel approaching to board. What a beauty boat and yours ain't too shabby either! ps. Weren't Lew and Pete hungry enough to hit the wings with you guys? pps. Oops, I just was called a ninny for not realizing that Lew and Pete didn't arrive until Saturday and the wings were on Friday night. Excuse me while I go stand in the corner.
  23. Glad you two had a good time out there, Wayne. Thanks for the report brrrrrrrr.
  24. Decent reading I'm sure but his adulterous life led his wife to suicide thus depriving their children of a mother...not on my Christmas list for sure. Sorry, it's how I feel about that.
  25. Not many people can pinch fish safely and effectively. JPD and maybe a handful of other folks on this board know how it's done. No matter how many Youtube videos you watch, you'll still need to learn the technique from an expert. Thanks Rick. Yes, I am good at it...it comes from being told by countless people all of my life to fizz off.
