  1. I got my TomTom One XLS last summer and have had no complaints so far. I did do a bit of research before I bought mine and the general consensus is that TomTom/Garmin are the better brands. They seem to have the best map/navigation systems, several online reviews have compared different GPS with the same trip and those two have performed better than the other brands. I find that other brands have many different features that the TomTom/Garmin might not have, (i.e. hack-able so it can be used to watch movies), but in my opinion we buy the GPS in order for it to navigate so I think it's more important that it can take me from point A to B with the fastest/shortest route. I'd suggest you to do a bit of research/shopping, from my experience CTC rarely has the best price, and if it does, you can always price match somewhere else.
  2. we do have an e-magazine. I'd be down for a few OFC lures too, only thing to consider is that it's probably alot of work for TJ to take care of the shipping ...
  3. I 2nd that. troutologist's idea's pretty good too.
  4. congrats anton! I still remember the day that I caught my first TO pike ... it was just awesome.
  5. i was camping at Grundy Lake PP 2-3 summers ago and fishing sucked for me ... I didn't venture out onto any back lakes and I only stayed at one side of the lake (who knows, maybe I was just fishing the wrong side) ... I went out on the canoe by myself and fished about ... 8-9 hours I'd say ... caught 2 hammer handles. I did hook into a big one though (30+ for sure and it's considered big for that lake), but lost it on a bad hookset, spinnerbait popped out within like 15 seconds. Good luck though!
  6. I'm not really sure whether you will see alot of carp stuff at the sportsman show. I went to the Spring Fishing Show 3 weeks ago and there was litttle to none ... only Natural sport (it was either Natural sport or JB, not exactly sure) had a couple of Technium rods (2.5-3lb TC) there for $150. It's probably a better idea to pay a visit to the Hamilton area.
  7. the largemouth is very common is asian supermarkets (they call them green bass) and I believe that's legal since I've seen them there all the time, and in every supermarket. However I have not seen a smallie in one of those tanks ever (yes, I do go and stare at the tank, especially when cabin fever really hits lol). I do find THAT a bit strange.
  8. Sorry for your loss Jacques, condolences to you and your family.
  9. now you've got a great excuse to spend at least $99 at the show !
  10. Welcome aboard Ben. There are many species in and around the urban areas of Toronto you can target, here's a link to a document from the ontario ministry of natural resources which shows you a list of species in various locations around the city. Urban Fishing Opportunities It really depends on what you're after, since you fish in UK you might be more interested in going after Pike and Carp? In June, carp action should be fired up and you can potentially get 40+ pound fish. As far as license goes, check out this web site ... Fishing license Make sure you read the fishing regulations and be familiar with it before you head out. Good luck. Victor
  11. Sorry to hear your loss Lew, condolences to you and your family.
  12. YES i won lol. just kidding Enjoy it Bill, I have a 3000 size one and love it.
  13. IMO the sedona/sahara are great reels ... especially for its price tag but if you looking at something more highend ... have you looked at the shimano saros? I think its 1000 size is actually a 750 body, just that the spool size is 1000
  14. i hope this won't stir up the pot ... what about the introduction of Asian carp to North America? I guess you can focus on the US here since it has to be outside of Canada.
  15. never really paid attention to that until you mentioned it Glen ... but then I don't do much grub fishing. I think I would put it tail down. JMO. Meh, lets just wacky rig it.
  16. You still don't have a baitcaster Mike? You probably should get one ... I'm sure eventaully you will want to try to learn it at some point, why not pick one up now during the off season and just learn to cast in the basement or something? I'm still not very good at it yet but I love burning the spinnerbaits/spinners using the baitcaster. Once you get better at it you should be able to get better accuracy and potentially distance too ... besides ... it saves the hassle to 'open bail, close bail" everytime you cast when you're retrieving the lures at a fast rate
  17. o and btw ... it seems that you haven't christened her yet? let us know when you do!
  18. nice kemper ... i know how you feel, got my 1st pin (aventa) as a gift from the gf half a year ago and i take it out from time to time just to spin it and play with it... got real busy with school so i have yet to take it out to the river we gotta get together sometime and you can hook me up with some chrome!
  19. i just started getting into float reels and my gf got me an okuma Aventa ... haven't used it yet so i can't tell you about it ... just a heads up though, if you do end up deciding to get the raven SST3, i see a new one on ebay right now for $270 US ... too bad the canadian dollar is so weak at the moment
  20. thanks for all the replies, i guess i won't have to worry about "not knowing it happened" and joonmoon, nice avatar pic!
  21. hey guys & girls ... just had 2 flat tires on my car in a span of 2 weeks (now I just gotten a new set of winter tires) and that experience got me thinking ... how would you know if your trailer got a flat tire on the road? When I got the flat on my car I clearly felt that my car was getting pulled towards one side ... would you feel anything with the trailer though? I understand that it will dip down lower on one side, but is it significant enough for the driver to see? Assuming that there are no other cars nearby to let you know, what does it feel like? It would help to know before hand so I will be able to notice it sooner and fix it before damaging the trailer. I hope it won't ever happened though *knock on wood lol* arg man i gotta stop thinking about softwater ...
  22. carped i also like the idea of the "best of" section, if it's just links to the actual post, it shouldn't take up too much server space." EDIT hey that's not fair TJ!! lol ... after seeing TJ type "b1 tched" i decided to try it on my own... and i ended up gettin... "carped" ... lol !
  23. Uh i guess i was wrong. I might stop by lebaron tomorrow then $$$$$$ Happy boxing day shopping!
