I purchased gas on the Indian Res today at $3.53 a gallon, saving only 10 cents per gallon. It use to be a savings between 30-40 cents. They have gotten just a GREEDY as the oil companies. Last time I purchase their gasoline. They can choke on their peace pipes before I stop there again

This is all about GREED. Someday they will find a alternative fuel for our vehicles and the middle east countries will fold like a cheap suit. I just hope I will be alive to celebrate that.

Best Location for On Board Charger
Billy Bob replied to Fishn Technishn's topic in General Discussion
Mine is completely out in the open and has been for 4 years without any problems. Of course it's waterproof. I mounted near the main starting battery and only had to lengthen one set of leads for the TM battery. -
Don't use "low" power (you did ask for ANY comments) I had a bad radio once and it sucked. It did teach me not to try to save money on a cheap VHS radio. Now I have a Raytheon and it works great.

It's possible that your picking up electrical noise from your depth finder or GPS unit. Did you try turning these off while transmitting.

When you guys travel back over the border do you have to declare the purchases made in the USA and do you get charged a duty fee ? ? ? If so that would really cut into the savings eh Bob

I LOVE Cabela's and it's probably better there is no store anywhere near me and all my purchases are mail order. I probably spend between 2-3K each year on stuff from Cabela's but that includes hunting and clothes plus Christmas gifts. What I like is they have always stood behind what they sold. NEVER had a problem with sending something back even after it's 6-7 months old. I wish more companies were like that. Bob

VERY hard to identify from the pic but from what other are saying I am guessing there are creek chubs (that's what they are called here) and make very fine bait for bass, pike and muskie.

On small inland lakes I like a #2 or #3 Chartreuse Colorado Blade with 5 red beads. Now on Lake Erie we use a lot of different blades in many colors and all the blades are twice the size used in the smaller lakes.

First it was Rodeos that were cruel and next they will be teaching to our youths fishing is cruel to fish. Don't let these tree huggers take over the world. They hate everything people do because they are unhappy and have WAY too much time on their hands. If you want to piss these people off, work hard and enjoy your life, they hate that

WOW, you got a lot of question here but I'll do my best. 1) Is this a new trolling motor. The reason I ask is you really don't need that much power for the boat you listed. You could go with a 12 volt system TM and save yourself a LOT of money not only on the motor but also on the batteries. If you can return the TM you might want to consider it but if not OK too much power is not a bad thing other than the extra weight of having two batteries instead of one. But it gets expensive every 3-4 years when TWO new batteries need to be purchased. 2) Optima batteries are WAY over priced IMHO and also way over rated. You do not need them and you can just open the hatch or just prop it open when charging. Not a big deal. 3) A on-board charging system is a GREAT investment. There are others that do just as good as the Minn Kota charger at a LOT less money. Cabela's has a VERY good one. It's called Cabela's ProSport II and I believe Bass Pro Shops has a similar one that they sell. 4) As far as shimming up the TM, you can go with what you mentioned or the rubber grommets. 5) Only if you are going to use the boat on one of the Great Lakes would the Quick Disconnect mount be necessary. On the big lakes the motor takes a beating and I find it best to remove it when I am on Lake Erie or Lake Ontario. If not save you money for expensive gasoline, looks like we will need all the gas money we can find this year and years to come. Good Luck Fishing, Bob

Crappie fishing can be very frustrating when you are first learning about them and especially about WHERE they are. But once you have spent a couple seasons learning about crappies and the best spots you will bring home the BEST fish fries known to man kind. BTW the season just started and you have to ABOUT the end of May to take advantage of this time of year. Good Luck, Bob

Not a myth, you should never store a battery on the concrete floor. Just put a piece of wood underneath it and your good to go. Also keep the top of the battery CLEAN. A dirty battery will conduct a discharge as proven my a old professor I had in college. He proved it with a volt meter by using on lead on one battery post and the other lead on the dirty battery top. It showed a volt reading (don't remember how much). Bob

One of the nice things about buying rods from Cabela's is they send them in rod tubes and you get them for FREE (my favorite word). I always use rod tubes if I am traveling with my rods and not my boat. If the boat is coming it has a VERY large rod locker that holds 8 rods PLUS lots of other stuff. OK, I am now going to give one of my best secrets when traveling without my boat to protect my other gear (not rods). This is especially true when doing fly in trips but also if you are going with someone and have to really PACK the stuff in for space. I use 5 gallon buckets that have a good snap on cover to protect my "stuff". In the buckets I use clear Plano type storage trays for my lures, etc........ The 5 gallon bucket has always protected my "stuff" when others had damage from jamming in these to fit 10 pounds of carp in a five pound sack. Well you know what I mean Best part is you can get 5 gallon buckets FREE (my favorite word)

Caesards Lodge June 14, Little Gouin #2 first time help! Advice?
Billy Bob replied to santon's topic in General Discussion
A reputable outfitter will send you a list on what you should bring or at least have that info on their website. Only the ones I have had trouble with in the past are vague on info. -
NY State opener is always the first Saturday in May (this year May 3rd) in case you want to get a head start on them their walleyes

I order from Cabela's using my account via the Internet and you can track everything much better that way. Twice now I got a email notice with the tracking number only to receive the item the same day (2 days after I ordered it). I don't think it can get better than that. I know you Canadian brothers have some issues with shipping that we don't have but you can register with Cabela's if you already haven't and have a Internet account with them and order via Internet using this account. I really like having the "Wish List" you can establish with your account. That way if I see something I like but don't what to order right away I put it in my wish list for a later date. Here's the link what I am talking about. https://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/template...&hasJS=true

Opinions on towing 21' bassboat with Jimmy
Billy Bob replied to Hotrod2066's topic in General Discussion
I had a Ford Escape with a V-6 201 hp engine and it towed my boat OK but not beyond that. I always felt I was being pushed down the highway with it. I had to plan my stops leaving PLENTY of room between myself and the vehicle in front of me. Last year I traded in the Ford on a new Toyota Tundra and wow what a difference in my towing experience now. I wanted something that when I was towing I wouldn't know it's back there and that's just what I got now. And the mileage is the same when towing between the Ford Escape and the Tundra. Of course the Escape got better overall mileage when not towing but you have to pay for it on one end or the other. I like the extra safety that I gained with the Tundra truck. However, if gas prices continue to rise the way they are going this week I am going to have give up driving and walk somewhere to fish -
Opinions on towing 21' bassboat with Jimmy
Billy Bob replied to Hotrod2066's topic in General Discussion
If I remember correctly the Jimmy has V-6 Vortex engine with about 200 hp. What does the boat weight FULLY loaded. Your Jimmy is probably rated for 3500 lbs but always figure only 80% of that rating ESPECIALLY if you are towing in mountains or high hills. So if your bass boat weighs more than 2800 lbs loaded you are pushing the envelope. Now if your only doing local towing (50 or less) you can get away with pushing it a bit but if your talking trailering this boat hundreds of miles I would say don't do it. BTW make sure those trailer brakes work. The Jimmy has never been know for good brakes as you might already know. Bob -
The line itself doesn't cause twist, the reel and they way you spool it on causes most of your twist and the rest comes from how you fish. Anytime you spool line onto a SPINNING reel you should either walk it all back off or run it behind the boat before using it. Of course make sure there is NOTHING tied on the end while doing this. For faster service because sometimes Walmarts here don't have anyone in the Sporting Goods section you can obtain a license at any of Dick's Sporting Goods stores or any of our town halls.

IF you can find a Delco Voyager battery grab it. I have had very good success with this battery. I still have one as my cranking battery and it also powers EVERYTHING but the trolling motor and it's eight years old now. I tried to find one to use this year to replace my dead trolling motor battery and no one around me carries them any longer. I am pretty sure I purchased the one I have at K Mart but now they carry Die Hard batteries.

I can give you general info not because I don't want to share hotspots but rather because I don't stream fish anymore. You are speaking about stream fishing right, if not the lower Niagara River is the best for boat fishing and some shore fishing at Art Park and Devil's hole. Now if you want to Lake Erie fish streams from shore or wading I would start from Eighteen Mile Creek in Derby, NY and then going west to Cattaraugus Creek that is in Silver Creek, NY and then finally Chautauqua Creek near Barcelona, NY. There are campgrounds in those areas. Here's a campground link for almost anywhere. http://www.epgsoft.com/CampgroundMap/ Here's one of the top bait shops that is right by the Catt. Call Ricky Miller bait shop at 716-934-2477. Ricky can answer most of your questions and he's right on top of what's going on in the streams. Also here's a link for our weekly outdoor writer Will Elliott that updates every Thursday in the Buffalo News and also some info in the Sunday paper. http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/other/fi...ory/319825.html I hope this helped. WOW, almost as a loaded question as what's the best outboard. I'm old and CHEAP and have use mono so long that I see no reason to switch. I jig fish a lot for walleyes and found 4 lb to work very well and rarely go up to 6 lb test. RARELY lose a fish because of light line and if I do so what. I don't thing the line is important as the jig being used, how it's tied on, how it's used and the big one what kind of rod you are using. I like a 6.5' LIGHT graphite rod and my go to jig is a 1/8 oz all black bucktail jig that I tie myself but they can be readily purchased.
