SO, I don't think the billionaires care about the CFL or anything else other than just making LOTS of money. The NFL just announced it is optioning out of the contract it has with the players union. In 2010 there will be NO salary cap and no contract as of the 2011 season. With on salary cap things will go wild for one year in the NFL and it will be the small market teams like Buffalo that will be hurt big time. ANYTHING can happen then, even the Bills moving to Toronto. If Ralph Wilson dies before that the move will come even sooner. Either way the Bills are going to Toronto, it's just a matter of time. What happens to the CFL is irrelevant. Money talks Bull walks and this is getting worse every year. BTW the owner of the Sabres is willing to sell the team also. He just doesn't want to see it moved out of Buffalo. However, as the city is getting poorer and smaller by the day it's just a matter of time that the Sabres are gone also. Bob

I would use a large cooler as the well and pump in water with a over flow to keep the water oxygenated. Try Cabela's or Bass Pro for ideas.

If and when the Buffalo Bills move to Toronto it will be with a new owner and that will be a VERY good thing for the team. Ralph Wilson is one of the cheapest dude to walk the planet. He "had" a great GM in Bill Polian and fired him and replaced him with a very good GM in John Butler and fired him. This has been a habit from him for over 30 years here in Buffalo. It all starts with a good GM and a good head coach of which Ralph will never pay for especially in today market prices. Ralph has realized that he has drained this region of ever last cent he could by shaking his tin cup to every politician that would listen. Now he is whoring out the team to Toronto. If Mexico comes up with some money the Buffalo Bills will be playing some game over there as well. Football is all about home field advantage but the Bills will be the only team in NFL history to have more away games than home games. Ralph only cares about gate receipts not winning. Maybe when the team finally leaves Buffalo we can get a MLB team here and help the city revive itself. God knows the Bills playing 8 errr 7 home games a year in Orchard Park never brought one red cent into the city of Buffalo. Bob

Big Gull Lake should meet your requirements. We use to stay here and it always did us right in fishing and accommodation's. http://www.kirkkovecottages.com/ Bob

IF you can still find one (doubt it) the best aerator I ever had was one that floated on the top of the water and looked like a big red bobber. Not only did it aerate the water but also cooled it a bit. It ran on one 6 volt battery but you could hook it up to your battery charger overnight. Has anyone else owned one of these ? ? ? Edited to add: GOOD NEWS to anyone who uses minnows. I found the product that I referred to in the above post. Here it is. http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/cb.aspx?a=70611 Bob

That reminds me of when the Sky Dome first opened up in Toronto and anyone in the US couldn't buy a ticket for any games for several years. Now they market the Blue Jays here in the Buffalo area. What goes around comes around

Hey, if you ban the Chinese where am I going to get my Chinese food ? ? ? -
I think what GCD is trying to say is that if this is allowed and gets out of hand it could be detrimental to the site. It all depends if the poster is a regular poster here or if he just drops in to benefit himself. I don't think jumping on GCD was necessary or accomplished anything. But hey I'm just Yankee visitor here that really enjoy this site as it is. Good people and LOTS of good helpful info Bob

How many things do you guys got running off your battery?
Billy Bob replied to BFSC Kevin's topic in General Discussion
I have a small, short (specially made) jumper cables so if need be I can use my trolling motor battery to jump start the main engine. But in 23 years of owning this boat I have never had to use it. I hope I didn't just jinx myself Cabela's had a battery monitor on sale two years ago for $14.99 that I purchased and it's good for monitoring two batteries. It nice to see how much power is left in the batteries. My main battery is OLD and needs to be replace soon. It has been going down to 60% when I am anchored and running the live well and GPS/Sonar unit. However, the battery jumps right up to 100% if I run any distance with the main engine. -

WOW, that's a LOT of weight to be towing around. Do you really think that's necessary ? ? ? -

The main battery a Group 24 Marine Starting Battery (Delco Voyager) runs the bilge pump, live well, lights, GPS/sonar, VHF radio and a AM/FM radio. That battery has been doing that for about 8 years now. I do have a on-board charger that I believe is responsible for the long battery life. But I am seriously considering replacing this battery before my first trip north in June. My other battery is a Group 27 Marine Deep Cycle battery and it's only job is to run the trolling motor. -
I purchase two boat covers from Cabela's a couple of years ago via mail. The first was WAY too big, sent it back and the second was too small and had to send that one back at my expense. I spent a lot of money in postage and got nothing in return. I think you are much better off getting you custom made cover repaired as that is what I will be doing someday. I just don't use the cover that much so there is no hurry to get rr done

YES, any of the OLD timers will still call then "yellow pike" however, anyone less than 60 now refer to them by their correct name "WALLEYE" eh

GUYS, just tilt the transducer a little bit forward. This does two things, stops the rooster tail and forces water over the complete surface of the transducer at high speeds which give you a good reading at any speed. YES it will shoot the cone angle just a little bit forward but not enough to matter. This installation practice has worked for me for MANY depth finders I have installed for myself and other.

I have listened to the "blue pike" stories for years from my father and other old fisherman, many who have since passed away. I myself never caught a true Lake Erie "blue pike" but did catch some of the blue tinted walleyes on the French River about 25 years ago. Here in the Buffalo area walleye were and sometimes still referred to as yellow pike because of the blue pike that most guys fished for. From what I was told they were a much smaller fish but also a better tasting fish than the yellow pike. I can remember going for fish fries with my family at a favorite tavern in the village that my dad knew the owner very well. Dad would seem to always get stuck working late on Fridays and we would arrive late for the fish dinner when all the "blue pike" were sold out. The owner would say to my dad, "sorry Art but were out of blue pike buy I have yellow pike for 50 cents", a 25 cent savings over blue pike. Boy those were the days, now a haddock fish fry is about $9.99 at most taverns that are left here. Over fishing by sportsmen, commercial fishermen and pollution did it's toll on the prize eating blue pike in Lake Erie and Ontario

I just had the complete opposite at the BPS store in Auburn, NY. The manager at that store must have really done a good job screening applicants for salesmen. I have also experience VERY good service in the two Cabela's store I visited two years ago in MN and SD. However, we have a Gander's Mountain store here that the service is the pits not to mention their HIGH prices there. I like to call it Expensive Mountain Bottom line each store is a reflection of the store management.

I used Gulp alive minnow yesterday while perch fishing on Lake Erie. Using a perch rig (two hooks) one salted Lake Erie emerald shiner and one Gulp minnow. They do catch gobies, not one perch was caught on them So far not convince they can replace or even come close to live bait. However, the experiment will continue through out the season.

Check out Walmart if you have one close. I have been using their brand "Super Tech" or whatever it's called for about 10 years now. No difference than Johnson's blend in anyway other than color. I believe it's about $7.99 per gallon US funds.

I hate to be the fly in the ointment but I remember when Ontario residents were NOT required to have a fishing license, only non residents like myself. You know what....................... fishing was better back then. What I am trying to say just because you have to purchase fishing licensees doesn't guarantee better fishing now or in the future. When you have been around a long time you realize that more government means LESS on anything it touches. Think about it............ You are a resident of Ontario or where ever and you have to purchase a license to just fish, being to feed yourself or catch and release. Meanwhile others are running a muck costing you even more money. I would think the people of the providence of Ontario would be happy just not to have to spend more money on you or your family. Just my 2 cents worth

You will NOT mark fish at higher speeds. The slower speeds are going to mark just about anything below you if you have sensitivity, ping and charts setting correct for the conditions. I had a hard time trying to convince a fishing buddy of this. We were cruising Lake Erie for walleye a couple of years ago in his boat at speeds between 15 - 20 mph and were not charting anything below us. I kept saying slow down to trolling speed and let have a look. NO, he was convince his $2100.00 new Lowrance LMS 19C unit could do it. We cruised for almost 2 hours until I said again, slow the boat down to 5 mph and lets have a look. When he finally did this the screen lit up with large hooks, we set out lines and started to catch our limit. BTW, a through hull installed transducer loses a lot of sensitivity. A transom mount transducer is the best if properly installed. Bob

I fought the urge to buy one for many years and about 5 years ago I purchased this one from Cabela's and believe me it was the best investment for my boat. During the summer the boat is in the garage and plug in ALL the time. It recharges both batteries at the same time and MAINTAINS them once charged. When I rent a cottage somewhere I make sure I have access to a 110 volt plug to plug the boat in while docked. The charger recharges the batteries FAST for the next time out. The charger is waterproof so I don't have to worry about it raining etc.......... And when I store the boat for the winter I don't remove the batteries anymore, I just plug it in where I store the boat and the charger maintains both batteries for a longer battery life. Here's the one I have. Check this one out as it will auto supply more amps to the weaker battery more than the stronger battery which is usually the trolling motor battery. PLUS this Cabela's charger is a lot less on the pocket book then most of the other name brand on-board chargers. (I have the ProSport 12) http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/template...&hasJS=true

Check to see if you have it in "Safe" mode. When in this mode it will NOT take any commands while the vehicle is in motion, at least that is what my Lowrance iWay 500C will do. I have since canceled the "Safe" mode so while my truck in moving I can push any command button I like and it will function.
