  1. You for over 20 YEARS I never had either a fuse or breaker on my trolling motors...now with the new one the directions call for a BREAKER so I added a 40 amp breaker just like the one from Cabela's but I got mine at a auto part store for $4.95.... Bob
  2. OK, but what's a "natiave" in case I am asked...
  3. Don't know about rock bass but my rule of thumb on Erie is if you are catching a lot of bass there are no walleyes around..when Mr Walleye shows up he kicks some (b)ass out. TRUE at least in my experience.
  4. This reminds me of when someone says "I have the same thing but "different"...what the heck does that mean...
  5. I use to work with a guy on the RR...Freddy had spent time in the nut house and use to say "I have papers stating I'm no longer insane, what do you have".
  6. Never thought of it but it could be the pet gerbil that escaped from Dr. Anthony Galea on steroids..
  7. Actually it was predicted to end in 1984 but it didn't
  8. And if you aunt had balls, she would be your uncle.
  9. Taste like Chicken.. :rofl2:
  10. It's just like the 1996 "Jerry Maguire" movie...SHOW ME THE MONEY
  11. We call that "The American Way"...
  12. Pretty good fishing where Alumacraft caught that bass (I can tell by the background) but the BEST is much much farther west around Van Buren Point and the Brocton Shoals....probably the BEST in the world.
  13. Anyone who gets stopped needs some kind of license...LOL BTW NYS has changed their laws just this week on who is eligible for a NYS Park Access Pass....I am no longer eligible since I am not BLIND or DEAF or have limbs missing from my body...just because the Federal Government says I am disabled and haven't worked on the RR for the last 7 years mean NOTHING to the bastar*s in Albany...and then they closed SEVERAL parks here that I like to launch from...paying taxes to NYS for over 30 years means nothing to them as they took my ONLY perk away from me this week. I am now off my rant (and off my rocker) Bob
  14. Eh, I don't think so....your government and mine lately only have on thing in mind...MONEY ! ! ! A editorial from a columnist I really don't care for from the Buffalo News finally made some sense the other day.....He said and I'm par a phrasing this..."If the University of Buffalo and other NYS colleges spend over 1 million dollars lobbing Albany to get them to listen to them what chance do we have of Albany listening to us"... That paragraph really hit home here...........:<(
  15. THANK YOU, your son just made my day...HE!! no.......my WEEK...LOL
  16. Trophy bass season is open in NYS. Can't help you much on fishing right in the harbor as I never have but I hear it's a fair largemouth fishery..
  17. Interesting but you have to take all these reports with a grain of salt....every time a manufacture comes out with a "NEW" truck it wins some kind of a award from some kind of a magazine. Posting gas mileage of each truck towing and non towing would of been the most helpful thing but was not included and I have to ask WHY ? ? ? Bob Tundra Owner
  18. Depending exactly how you are going to use your cover should dictate how much you should spend on material....I have a 25 year old canvas cover on my boat, however I don't use it that much...only now and then...if I was going to constantly use it when the boat was not in use (mine's in the garage when not in use) I would purchase the BEST material money can buy because the labor is about the same. Hope this helps, Bob
  19. I spotted 2 gars today while crappie fishing on Chautauqua Lake...one about 2.5-3' and the other much larger, maybe 4' long....one the largest crappies had marks on it as something grabbed it...I was thinking MUSKIE as there are many in that lake but maybe gar pike ? ? ? do they eat crappies ? ? ? BTW the crappie bite was VERY good today. Bob
  20. Used several different makes and I would only get Cannons now...the one nice thing about the manual Cannons you said you have in storage is they can EASILY be converted to electric downriggers by just adding on the motors. I also think Cannon makes the best Planer Board Boom out there...... Bob
  21. My starting battery is 9 years old and it's a dual purpose Delco Voyager group 24....however, this year it's starting to show it's weakening as per my on-board constant battery monitor...but I think it will get me through this year. The big thing is my batteries are charged and maintained 24/7/365 on my on-board battery charger when not fishing by this charger. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat21276-cat600056_TGP&id=0043939018868a&navCount=2&podId=0043939&parentId=cat600056&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=IA&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat600056&hasJS=true
  22. I have carpeted bunk plus the center rollers.... I NEVER even put my hubs into the water while launching or retrieving in 25 years....Once a year I spray a whole can of silicone spray on the bunk carpets at the beginning of the year...I also remove the center rollers every 2-3 years and grease the piss out of them using Marine wheel bearing grease....I launch and retrieve my boat by myself without any problems. However, 2 years ago the wife bought me a electric winch because of my bad shoulders so I wouldn't have to crank on the boat...works GREAT and as I said my trailer doesn't go very far into the water at all..the rear roller (closest to the license plate) is OUT of the water when I launch and retrieve my boat....went almost 20 years without repacking my wheel bearing because they never get wet.. Bob
  23. IMHO the Optimas are WAY over price and OVER rated... You don't say where you're from but if you're near Fort Erie, Ontario then hop over to our side with boat in tow...go to Sam's Club and get the batteries you need...I believe each will cost you about $65 -$69 each and they are GREAT BATTERIES....
  24. In your first post you mentioned that both motors are BRAND NEW but in your last post you say the 4 stroker is 2004....even if it's never been used but that seems hard to believe I would be going with the 2010 ETEC even if it's $1500 more...come time when you sell or trade in this motor the ETEC will be EASILY worth more that the initial $1500.
