OH WOW, So sorry to hear that...mine had NO MENTION whatsoever in the manual about it either...just thought ALL Power trim/Tilt units would act similar. Maybe we can get some others here to chime in about this....*****Has anyone else experience your POWER TRIM/TILT outboard kicking up when you hit something.... I have twice with my 1985 50hp Johnson VRO outboard. Bob

Actually the hydraulics will release the motor when something is struck and the motor will come right up and out of the water....found this out twice...once years ago in late October fishing Chautauqua Lake I hit a dock that was floating out in the middle of the lake. Boat flew right over it as we didn't see it because it was floating level with the surface..NO damage at all to the boat or motor as the motor hit it and flew right out of the water...I didn't think it would do that either...NOW here's the one that DID HURT and RIGHT AT Memquist Lodge you speak of...fishing 3 days out towards the lake and following and watching for the milk jugs someone was kind enough to mark a shallow reef...no problem until day four when I tried to go through that same area from a different angle and I was steering clear of the milk jugs while looking at the distance tree line where I wanted to start my drift...well going about 25 mph I hit solid rock and again the motor flew up and out of the water, only this time I knew I was in trouble...I was afraid to power lift the motor up thinking I knocked off the whole lower unit...powered it up and I did MAJOR damage to the prop and minor damage to the skeg but I had to limp back to the lodge and called it a day...the next day we were leaving so it wasn't too bad fishing wise...that is the first time I ever did any damage to any of my props or motors and I have had this boat 25 years now....$100 for a new prop and I was good to go. NOW I FOUND THE WATER YOU GUYS ARE MISSING IN THE BIG NIP..... I just returned from Kinzua Reservoir and it's 10 feet above normal...not flood stage but VERY HIGH. Bob

Randy, HI.... I have fished the Sturgeon River several times in the late 70's and early 80's....I thought the river pretty much ran north and south making the sides West and East... we use to stay at a place called Nippressing Lodge (or something like that) that was I would say on the East side of the river...please correct my ignorance. The owners were native Canadians, at least the man (Jim I think) was and his wife's name was Jane. GREAT host as they would, back then keep a stash of extra cases of beer for sale for us crazy Americans that they knew would run of good cold CANADIAN BEER...:<) Bob

I MUCH prefer CARPETING but that's a personal choice...however, if you want to check out carpeting, etc...here's Cabela's inventory on this stuff. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/common/search/search-results1.jsp?_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&hasJS=false&_D%3AhasJS=+&http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cabelas.com%2Fcabelas%2Fcommerce%2FCabelasCatalogNumberFinder.giftCertificateURL=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cabelas.com%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Ftemplates%2Fgiftcertificate%2Fgiftcertificate.jsp%3Fid%3D0005586990011a%26podId%3D0005586%26catalogCode%3DIB%26navAction%3Djump%26indexId%3D&_D%3A%2Fcabelas%2Fcommerce%2FCabelasCatalogNumberFinder.giftCertificateURL=+&sort=all&QueryText=boat+carpeting&Go.x=0&Go.y=0&_DARGS=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cabelas.com%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fsearch%2Fsearch-box.jsp.form23&_requestid=85241

Wife came home from work and I made a nice spaghetti dinner for both of us leaving my computer terminal for about 2 - 2.5 hours only to return and find 32 email notice about a bear that shiat in the woods....think about that...LOL...now did I tell you the joke with the pope...LOL BTW...AGAIN I will guarantee that is NOT deer droppings.I don't care how much you taste it and or like it it's not venison. Bob

It DEFINITELY would be one LARGE Whitetail Deer...but I have a 130 grain Power Point bullet that would be delivered from my Ruger .270 that I'm sure would bring it down...

As soon as I read the original poster I remember your posting regarding Rapala Service on those baits. Wasn't it just last year ? Maybe you can pay a visit to the customer service center and finally get some results. Here in the Buffalo area we have none of these customer centers as I also read where someone up your way had a issue with a Lowrance HDS 5 unit filling up with water (a well documented problem with the early models) and just took it to the Lowrance Customer Service Center (I guess in the Great Toronto Area) and was handed a new unit, no questions ask...if that would of happened to me I would have had to send it in to Lowrance in Tulsa, OK. Kind of makes me wonder is I could bring it up to the Lowrance Service Center in Canada ? Bob

Having been a deer hunter for over 35 years I can guarantee this is NOT deer dropping .....

You would not believe how MANY of my fellow Americans from the SOUTH believe in Big Foot...

The rain will come and probably when you really don't want it....here's it's been raining for almost a week now and everyone here is SICK of it...suppose to be sunny Sat/Sun..hope so as my deck has been washed and needs a clear coat for protection. I haven't fished since opening weekend...May 1st. Bob

In reservoirs I have fished I always found low water levels seemed to make the bite much harder where high water levels were always good for me.

Jet Blue does NOT have a direct NON STOP flight to Vegas...if you don't mind flying around to Boston or NY first and then to Vegas Jet Blue might be your choice...I check the dates with Jet Blue when we are going and would be $300 MORE than taking the NON STOP flight we are taking with Southwest Airlines which is the only non stop flight to Vegas...our first trip there in 2002 we used Delta...what a MISTAKE...a delayed flight out of Buffalo cost us our connection in Cinci so it ended up taking 14 hours just to get to Vegas...Southwest flights (non stop) and you're in Sin City in 4 hours or LESS. Since I'm on the mailing list I just received another offer. This time from the Luxor Hotel and Casino in Vegas with rates at $36 per night. https://reservations.mgmmirage.com/bookingengine.aspx?pid=LUX&host=promo&code=LRATE48

I agree, four nights for anyone who has never been to Vegas while three nights for frequent visitors does fine. This year we are treating our two sons and girlfriends to a trip there in August. Might be the last time we can do a family vacation before my oldest son is deployed. Bob

TRUE very TRUE...but can you name just one vacation destination where you come home with more money then when you left home...in Vegas it does happen (just not to me).

We have VERY SIMILAR situation here in NYS with the Seneca Indians...but they only want to take advantage of situations and not compete with other businesses here...they want to sell cigarettes and gasoline tax free and under cutting the businesses that border their reservations...they have a complete monopoly with their casinos also...but here's what bothers me most...MOST and I'll say it again MOST BY FAR of all the people working in the gas stations, cigarette stores and all their casino's are NOT Native Americans but rather white or black people. And it's not because they can't get hired, they choose NOT to work but rather live off the 6-8 thousand dollars that they get from the casino's every year and then complain to the NYS government about their problems.

It will if you know how to play Blackjack... Vegas is a GREAT Vacation even for those who never gamble..I'm not a big gambler but the wife is very good playing Blackjack...where else in the world can you get a 5 star hotel for $55 a night other then Vegas...and as I said there are MANY things to do and see in Vegas besides gambling and many are FREE (my favorite word)... Just walking up and down the 4 mile strip and seeing the volcano at the Mirage or the fountains in the lake at the Bellagio not to mention the Pirate fight at Treasure Island...I could go on and on but that's just a fraction of what to do for those who don't gamble much like me... I do play blackjack and only play to stay even and enjoy the great (FREE) cocktail service that only the casino's in Vegas are famous for...oh, and did I mention how those cocktail girls dress.... ...even the women that are seen ALL OVER VEGAS are hot hot and hotter...each trying to out do the next one...even my wife points them out for me....it's nice to have that extra set of eyes while looking for eye candy... So hopefully I helped someone save some hard earned cash on the hotel bill if they were thinking of heading to Sin City...an adult play ground... Bob

GO FISHING...it's from the exhaust...I would bet my last dozen of nightcrawlers on it while walleye fishing... Bob
-
What color is the oil...if real dark black it could be from the exhaust as this is usual after the motor is stored with the cylinders being treated before winter...if it's mostly clear it could be lower unit oil and you have a problem as noted in the above post...but if it's dark black go fishing..

Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 2 http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Bridgestone&tireModel=Dueler+A%2FT+Revo+2 Here's the results of a nation survey on tires that should help. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/surveydisplay.jsp?type=ORAT

Find the tire you like at this site and look at the customer reviews. This at least gives you something to go by even if you can't order from tirerack in Canada. http://www.tirerack.com/ Bob

NF When do you say enuff and get rid of it
Billy Bob replied to vinnimon's topic in General Discussion
My younger son is still driving my 2001 (purchased 4/00)Saturn Coupe SC2 and loves it. It's loaded with even leather interior and still gets 38 mpg on the highway. It recently turned 100K and still looks new. I "HOPE" to someday get it back from him and drive it as my daily vehicle....but he said when he's done with it I'll need a tow truck to get it. -
I agree with many things you have said here...my 50 hp Johnson VRO idles and trolls down to nothing while it's sipping 150/1 oil. But the 4 strokes are quiter I will say that...gas consumption is very low for me and the power is unmatched by a 4 stroke...to trade into a 4 stroker would cost me at least 7K and that my man buys a LOT of expensive gasoline.... BTW I have never had to change the oil...expect the lower unit every year.
-
After reading all of this I glad I have a 2 stroke oil injected outboard...
