  1. Based out of Ottawa http://www.cabinkits.ca/sample1.htm
  2. Its not the length that matters...its how you use it
  3. I fish that area a lot. Never later than mid September, but at that time, the fish will be on the feed. Look for shoals. 10 ft to 40 ft within 50 yards. Slow troll a worm harness criss crossing the area or anchor in the spot where it drops to 30+ and use a drop shot.
  4. Marshs Marina.
  5. Great suggestions as always!!! Thanks!
  6. Love the last pic!!!
  7. Using the 1 ounce per 10ft of water rule, if I am fishing 20 ft with a 2 ounce and move to 30 ft, is there an easy way to add a 1 ounce that can be removed just as easily? Thanks in advance!
  8. Want to be clear....I was in the wrong here...but it was a wake up call for me. I am a very experienced boater and take boat safety very seriously.
  9. Totally agree!!! She was just so low profile...it scared the crap outta me. I wasnt cautioning her cause she did something wrong...just cautioning her that for her safety she should stay to the side. A bass boat ripping along wouldnt have time.
  10. I had a close call on the French a few weeks ago. I was running to another spot....bright sun in my eyes. I had my sunglasses on and my hand up to block the sun.....saw a kayaker in front of me about 10 seconds before impact. She was out in the middle of the main channel. I turned around and apologized, but also cautioned her to stay closer to the sides. My boat only does 30kmph....other boats fly.
  11. Never go with less than 80-90% of max hp...you will regret. The cost to upgrade the motor will be a lot and you could use the money to get a better boat. Excited for you though!!!!! Have fun looking!!!
  12. I appreciate all the feeback very much!!!! I have decided not to do it
  13. I'd like to thank everyone for taking the time on your posts...great feedback! The peeps on this site are amazing
  14. Hi. Want to start making my own harnesses. Jist for fun. Can anyone recommend a good blade kit? I dont need the whole deal, just the blades. Thanks in advance
  15. My current boat was bought without registration. Guy had bought it from a friend and never transferred it into his own name. All I had to do was send the bill of sale he gave me and the application to NB and I had no problem. Before sending, I took copies of the bill of sale and the application and kept that in the boat to prove that I had applied (didnt need it though)
  16. Maybe its because I rent and am a good tenant...but how often would I really need to Visit the property? Othen than giving my landlord a cheque, I have no need to interact with him. Would reference and credit checks and having them put utilities in their name not mitigate the risk significantly?
  17. Not on the water...in town. Cant afford waterfront. I am not looking to "make money" necessarily, just cover the mortgage and property taxes. It would be a place I live in when I retire. I wouldnt include utilities cause anyone will need decent credit to get hydro and such. I have read some articles that say to allow 5% of house value for maintenance and repairs....if I quit smoking and bought less beer....that would be covered. If I didnt have 3 young boys I would move there now....but need to be close to them
  18. Looking at towns around French River
  19. I was thinking long term rental
  20. Thank you for the honest feedback and for taking the time to write that with one hand! Lol. I didnt think it could be that hard to deal with bad renters
  21. I am single dad and pay child support for 3 boys. They are well worth it and it is my responsibility, but I will be renting for most of my life. I love my trips up north and have been seriously considering buying a place up there and renting it out. Its the only place I can afford property. Just wondering if anyone has done this? Pros? Cons? I would be about 4 hrs drive away from the property.
  22. Its a step in the right direction....and acknowlegement of an issue. Better than going backwards!
  23. You can back it with a strip of electrical tape also
  24. I rent a cottage to myself on the French for a week atleast twice a year (this summer 3 times ) I love it! I do what I want, when I want and how I want. Recently I have gone out a couple of times with a regular there, but he is a cool guy....not too chatty, but not antisocial and die hard like me. There are always people around to talk to when you come back to the camp. If you have never done it...give it a go. On a side note, this past trip 2 weeks ago I decided I wasnt going to bring any booze at all....honestly it made it a better trip! I was on the water by 5am each day feeling rested and with it, and I just focused on the beauty of being up there.
