Hi all! Looking to the wealth of knowledge on this board to help me solve my boat rod storage problem. I have a 14ft Princecraft Fisherman LX (1997 I think). I typically carry 5-6 rods when I fish and have no storage for them. I just lay them on each side of the boat on top of the storage lockers. Constant tangles and general pain on the butt! I cant install horizontal rod racks because the clearance from the lids of the storage lockers is too small to the gunnel. Also, I wouldnt be able to open the storage lockers. I have thought about vertical storage at the transom, but think I would get into a mess when trolling or hooked into a good fish. Wondering if anyone here has some good solutions / tips? Thanks in advance!

Perch on the French River or Nipissing
sneak_e_pete replied to wvmedic's topic in General Discussion
I can count the number of perch I have caught in the French on one hand. I dont target them there, but extensively use worm harnesses which gets them elsewhere -
Do you have a boarding ladder on your boat ?

Cavitation plate, but when the motor is on...trolling or not, kill switch is on my wrist. -
What do you take on a fly in, that's well, different?
sneak_e_pete replied to Headhunter's topic in General Discussion
I dont have one yet, but will be getting one of these for my next fly-in. http://www.buylifestraw.com/en/ Also, a sponge to soak up water from the bottom of the boat. -
I am not here to bash native people. There are good and bad in every race and every sect of life. The problem stems from money. Treaty rights are in place to protect Native way of life. The unfortuneate part, is there are no regulations to prevent profit from this. There are a TON of Native people who use their treaty rights responsibly to provide for their families. They have that right and respect it. However, there ARE Native people who use it for profit. I dont think we should categorize this as a Native issue, rather an issue where some people (Native or not) are exploiting the system for profit at the expense of a resource. It's 2015. We are not in the times of the frontier where hunting and fishing meant survival. The traditional ways involved no gill nets, outboard motors, snow machines, rifles, etc.

Ya...the only thing I wish is that I got better pics. I was in such a state of shock and awe that if you had asked me my name I couldnt have told you. All I kept thinking about was getting her back swimming. -

Petition to allow more walleye restocking on Lake Nipissing
sneak_e_pete replied to LNSA_'s topic in General Discussion
Good on ya LNSA! Many people would just roll over and say " oh well" but you are doing something to try and make a difference. If it works or not...you are showing extreme effort and without effort there will never be reward. -

I think it is an amazing story with such a sad ending. A lot of us dream of doing what he did...but he did it. What a brave young man. A reminder that the north is not an easy place to be and that doing something like he did is serious business. I respect him very much for his goal, but am saddened that his family had this loss. R.I.P

I apologize for that. Read it in a way it wasnt intended.....guess I was a little cranky lol. Sorry.

Not sure if its a joke or real, but I dont appreciate being called out on my trip. I had great success because I worked hard. I know what a walleye is, so if nothing positive to say....piss off

I have been on this board for years. I dont lie about my catches. Never said I was fishing Wolseley...just that I stayed there. The fish are there....its finding them.

It was very wearher sensitive. On the opener I got 33, next day 20, but on Monday afternoon a cold front moved in. The next couple days was 3-4 fish until it stabilized. It actually snowed on the Friday! Once they adjusted, they bit again.

Spent the week of May 16-23 at Totem Point Lodge. Weather was crap, but I got over 100 walleye for the week! Biggest being 27 1/2"....a new PB. This is my 3rd year at Totem Point and my knowledge of the area is paying off. I am not affiliated with them whatsoever...just a guest, but if you want to visit Wolseley Bay....check out Totem Point. Customer service BEYOND amazing.

Hi all. Heading to the French for opener. Would like to avoid paying $6 a dozen and the 30 minute round trip to get more. I have a metal minnow trap, but have never had luck catching them. All the info I read says put the trap in feeder creeks...but there arent any. Tips appreciated. Thanks.

How did you first musky experience go down?

Trolling in 6ft of water with a #3 mepps spinner on the French River. 56" of raw power! -
I have a 2013 Dodge Ram 4x4 with 55,000km on it. The dealer is saying that I need a differential alignment done as preventative maintenance to the tune of $700. This is not the result of a problem or diagnosis...just preventative. Seems steep and a little early for this. I tow my 14ft about 4 times a year and dont do heavy hauling. Interested in your thoughts. Thanks in advance!
