  1. Great report as always Mike, can't think of a nicer way to send a weekend.
  2. I love the bridge pic Wes. Many many memories of crossing it with our fingers crossed on the way to Chippewa, my mom still hates crossing it - I figure if it hasn't fallen yet it'll last forever
  3. Nice stuff Kemper. If one thing beats spending the afternoon watching fishing shows its getting in some fishing of your own. Congrats on some real beauties.
  4. I googled the net for how to cook whitefish but came up with nothing easy than remembered I'd bought a package of 'gourmet' fish crip in jamaican jerk flavour a while back so thats what I used. All I can say is DAMN WHITEFISH IS A GOOD TASTING FISH! MMMMM. The jerk was a bit too spicy but now I'm in trouble as I can't go back to perch after that fish . Some time we can get together and you can show me how to get lakers and I'll teach all the whitey secrets I've picked in the 20 minutes of whitefish experience I have
  5. Very cool, lings are weird fish if you ask me . By the way, now that you've gotten the uploads going there's one more trick you can do. When your entering your post here look down under the editting box to where it says post options and switch it to html on - auto linebreak mode. Then instead of putting in a link you copy the value in the video page thats called "html code" and looks like this. <embed width="448" height="361" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" src="http://i225.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vid225.photobucket.com/albums/dd49/cisco5577/PLUS0004.flv"> And voila you get the videos right in your post here on OFC! <embed width="448" height="361" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" src="http://i225.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vid225.photobucket.com/albums/dd49/cisco5577/PLUS0004.flv"> <embed width="448" height="361" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" src="http://i225.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vid225.photobucket.com/albums/dd49/cisco5577/PLUS0006.flv">
  6. Thats awesome, thanks for sharing! Gives hope to us all, even those of us who aren't nearly brave enough to do anything before ice out in April
  7. Beauty Lakers Tony, you guys had a plan and it paid off so congrats on getting that skunk off!
  8. Congrats Cliff! Somehow I missed seeing you there today (some of showed up on time you know ). Was a great day and a wonderful event, congrats to everyone involved in setting up, organizing, donating, cooking and just generally making it a fun day. Started early signing up with every intention of getting skunked <a href=" title="Fishing for Tyler Sign in by Sean Maurik, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3004/2286547373_dce9207f62_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="Fishing for Tyler Sign in" /></a> PatrickG and I setup in about 30 feet of water near Lexx (he followed us I swear!) and I dropped down the fish tv but nothing much happened for the first 10 mintues so I started looking around the lake, what a nice morning <a href=" title="Waiting... by Sean Maurik, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3013/2287334762_03e7f84231_b.jpg" width="1024" height="265" alt="Waiting..." /></a> All this time I was banging a jigging spoon tipped in a gulp maggot into the sand. Casually I looked over at the tv to see two large fish staring at my jig. Before I could even say 'what the goonie goo goo are those' one poppped out his little sucker mouth and ZOOOP jig is in his mouth. A fun fight ensued on my perch gear and I landed my first ever white fish! Unfortunately for some stupid reason I didn't get a picture of him - Lexx did though so I'll have to get it from him. Here's what he looks like right now though <a href=" title="Whitefish jerk by Sean Maurik, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3147/2287336526_5728881339_b.jpg" width="768" height="1024" alt="Whitefish jerk" /></a> The rest of the day for Patrick and I can summed up like this <a href=" title="Relaxing on the ice by Sean Maurik, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2104/2287335660_0ce68098fa_b.jpg" width="768" height="1024" alt="Relaxing on the ice" /></a> Back at the weigh in I found out I had the only white fish (so far) and no one had any trout in. My whitey came in at 22 and 1/2 and I was a little hopeful but knew the laker hunters would be coming back soon and sure enough TonyB trumped me with a couple gorgeous trout. Ah well, second place was fine with me. <a href=" title="The Weigh In by Sean Maurik, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2111/2286548353_0d51f59b16_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="The Weigh In" /></a> Couldn't have asked for better weather, better people or a better cause. Great day all, see you soon and now to enjoy some tasty whitefish! Sean
  9. Glad to here things went well. Best wishes to everyone.
  10. Saw this on another fishing related board (I know - I know but its a species specific US based board I swear I'm not cheating on the OFC ) and had to share it: A man was on the river for his weekly fishing trip. He began his day with an 3 Lb smallie on the first cast and a 4 Lb on the second. On the third cast he had just caught his first ever smallie over 6 pounds when his cell phone rang. It was a doctor notifying him that his wife had just been in a terrible accident and was in critical condition and in the ICU. The man told the doctor to inform his wife where he was and that he'd be there as soon as possible. As he hung up he realized he was leaving what was shaping up to be his best day ever on the water. He decided to get in a couple of more casts before heading to the hospital. He ended up fishing the rest of the morning, finishing his trip with 3 smallies over 6 pounds. He was jubilant.... Then he remembered his wife. Feeling guilty he dashed to the hospital. He saw the doctor in the corridor and asked about his wife's condition. The doctor glared at him and shouted, 'You went ahead and finished your fishing trip didn't you! I hope you're proud of yourself! While you were out for the past four hours enjoying yourself on the pond your wife has been languishing in the ICU! It's just as well you went ahead and finished because it will be more than likely the last fishing trip you ever take!' 'For the rest of her life she will require 'round the clock care. And you'll be her care giver forever!' The man was feeling so guilty he broke down and sobbed. The doctor then chuckled and said, 'I'm just messing with ya. She's dead. What'd you catch?'
  11. Sheesh, todays just turning into a 'poop' day. First this post and then this one is on the Digg front pages: Five things I didn't know about 'poop' Maybe I'll skip the burrito and go straight to the tequila for lunch today

  23. Great report Mike, winterlude is something everyone should attend at least once.
  24. Thats gotta be worth at least a weekend on the water if you ask me. Nice job
  25. Well they seem to be tempering it down now to just some freezing rain in the morning Sunday (then regular rain in the afternoon) with maybe an inch of snow monday. I'm fine with that, at least until my basement and roof both start leaking at the same time
