Master looks pretty serious there, glad he let you get in a little fishing . Great report as always - now go enjoy your certified vegan eggs.
-
Great stuff guys, nothing makes fishing in the rain more bearable than non stop fish.
-
Nice stuff guys. Nice to see the island pike reports return!
-
Damn your eyes! Too late! sorry just popped into my head when I saw the big eyes on that little fish.
-
Thanks John, I'll remember that though I think he was just as happy to get the import label to show off his 'from the old country' droops to his friends as he was to get the damned things (I love most dutch stuff - got a box of hagelslag in the fridge right now - but I can't stand droops).
-
If your fishing from shore rig up a slip foat with a small jig (little white maribou's worked great last week but micro tubes, little bits of gulp grubs, etc work). The reason I point out the slip float is because you can cast it a mile vs trying to cast with just a light jig/hook on your line. A non slip float would work but its' much more of a pain to cast (due to the long lead line after the float twirling all over).

I spent $30 just in shipping fees to get 2Kg of droops (licorice) to my dad for his birthday, if only I'd known you were going . Its great to see some fishing from over there. My grandfather always said he's real reason for coming to Canada had nothing to do with post war economics or bitter feelings (took him a long time to get over the war) but instead was because he could fish every single day anywhere he wanted, my earliest fishing memories are with him and my bad getting smelt and my grandmother preparing the bucket loads we brought back. mmmmm.

Well I guess personally of me it would probably be this one <a href=" title="Seans Biggie by Sean Maurik, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm1.static.flickr.com/252/1500377465_3806672ade_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="Seans Biggie" /></a> I also really like these 2 (the pictures I mean - the subjects are all lousy scum who steal my fishing spots! ) PatrickG fighting a monster: <a href=" title="IMG_1741 by Sean Maurik, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1152/1316811230_3d62fed3f2_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="IMG_1741" /></a> FatherOf3 Working the current: <a href=" title="Paris - Sept1-2 by Sean Maurik, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1018/1298549512_26dc5f8d71_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="Paris - Sept1-2" /></a>

Fishing Trips for This Year; Let's Hear Them!
tbayboy replied to Golfisher's topic in General Discussion
Freeze my off this weekend doing the opener on Quinte. I think Lexx invited me just to have someone along to share the misery with. Then a wedding in Thunder Bay in early June hopefully means a day or two on the Kam river And then the annual boys trip to Lac des Milles Lac in late August, can't wait -
Sweet trip, thanks for the great report.

Trout Season Opener: Turned into a weekend adventure
tbayboy replied to MJL's topic in General Discussion
Now thats a great day by any measure. Congrats to Victor on hist first steelhead and thanks to you for putting together such a great report. -
Got the same reel young one and was thinking the same line. No idea where we'll be fishing as its my first time so I'm counting on Lexx to put me onto all kinds of record breaking (and prize winning) fish. No pressure on him or anything
-
Hey everyone, its time to put some fresh line on my reels and start this season off. I'm going to be heading to Quinte for the opener weekend and I'm not sure what I want put to on the reels. I'm going to bring the following: Spinning reel for walleye casting - minnow baits, shad raps and the like. Currenly have 20lb power pro on this and nothing on the backup spool Baitcaster for pike casting - bucktails, bigger cranks, etc. 50lb Powerpro on it currently Spinning reel for jigging. new reel so no line on either spool. Line counter reel for trolling - harnesses/spinners/stick baits. No line on it yet I think the casting rods are ok with whats on them (adding appropriate leaders of course) but the other 2 I'm not so sure of. Normally for walleye I'd be putting 10lb powerpro or fireline on the jigging reel (with flouro leader) and 8-10lb mono on the trolling line but I keep seeing these images of stupid big fish in Quinte and I'm not sure if I should be picking some heavier stuff for this trip. What do you guys and gals think - stick with the stuff thats worked for me before and risk break offs or go with big?
-
Oooh someones getting all artistic on us this year . Looks like a great day out with the family, thanks for report.

Congrats Steelcat. Nice recovery from a change of plans. If it makes you feel better we were on a boat and barely did 20 ourselves including this guy who was caught on film when my camera was acting up: <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="400" height="300" data="http://www.flickr.com/apps/video/stewart.swf?v=49235"'>http://www.flickr.com/apps/video/stewart.swf?v=49235" classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"> <param name="flashvars" value="intl_lang=en-us&photo_secret=00f8de8fdf&photo_id=2447001293"></param> <param name="movie" value="http://www.flickr.com/apps/video/stewart.swf?v=49235"></param> <param name="bgcolor" value="#000000"></param> <param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://www.flickr.com/apps/video/stewart.swf?v=49235" bgcolor="#000000" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="intl_lang=en-us&photo_secret=00f8de8fdf&photo_id=2447001293" height="300" width="400"></embed></object>

Another sure sign of spring - Johnny Bass + Snagmasteral reports. Can tell its still early though as your both wearing shirts Nice jumbos guys, great way to start the softwater season off.
-
Combine cheap flying machines with cheap boats and you get the ultimate backwater fishing machine! Full details: Via Gizmondo
-
Congrats to the both of you. Sure sign of spring I'd say. Was out around the Brantford area last weekend and they'd replaced the crappies. Buggers were throwing themselves clear out of the water while my float drifted around.

Should be a fun topic to watch (you can tell how twitchy we're all getting with this nice weather). My personal bests aren't great stories but this small walleye is my best story so far: <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="400" height="300" data="http://www.flickr.com/apps/video/stewart.swf?v=1.173"'>http://www.flickr.com/apps/video/stewart.swf?v=1.173" classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"> <param name="flashvars" value="intl_lang=en-us&photo_secret=d7992dbaf9&photo_id=2402492650&show_info_box=true"></param> <param name="movie" value="http://www.flickr.com/apps/video/stewart.swf?v=1.173"></param> <param name="bgcolor" value="#000000"></param> <param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://www.flickr.com/apps/video/stewart.swf?v=1.173" bgcolor="#000000" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="intl_lang=en-us&photo_secret=d7992dbaf9&photo_id=2402492650&flickr_show_info_box=true" height="300" width="400"></embed></object> Close runner up would be an afternoon of smallie fishing on the Grand that PatrickG and I had late last summer where we had multiple 4 pounders as well as a few other large ones. Was one of those perfect afternoons <a href=" title="70044f2d by Sean Maurik, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2089/1524175681_0384b8e0f3_o.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="70044f2d" /></a> <a href=" title="Patricks biggie by Sean Maurik, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2084/1500382255_332722dd61.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="Patricks biggie" /></a> Oh and my PB muskie which while big was a bit of a let down -trolling with heavy gear on short lines it was really just a matter of standing up, grabbing the rod out of the holder and dragging him in with nary a head shake. Still a damn nice fish though <a href=" title="A new personal best by Sean Maurik, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2131/1781194265_ee2811bce9.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="A new personal best" /></a>

Happy Birthday Bill. Guess we'll have to start calling you an old fart now
-
Tough one as I think style of fishing affects it as much as species but I picked Smallmouth. Smallmouth wading in the Grand was probably the most fun I had last year but muskies are a very close second (smallies winning out due to the fact that I don't need a boat)
-
Lew hit it on the head. Yeah the ads are annoying and not all the shows are really all that interesting but it's $2 a month - I spend more than that before I even get into the office every day. Heck, I'd pay $2 a month just for Lindners OR mercer OR The next bite OR ...
-
Sounds like a great trip Mike, way to roll with the weather and new guide punches. I get the sense this might become a regular road trip for you.
-
Congrats Pickeral. I think I was fishing beside you yesterday - I was the guy with the Shimano rain jacket that showed up a bit before you headed out to look over spots. Sounds like I left before the action came on (only managed a couple myself).

Welcome back Garry.
