  1. Yes i am, gonna head to hooters for lunch and off to fishin' for a little bit... all with the wife in tow!!
  2. xrap- would never think about using it as a mainline... i'm happy with the Ande, Berkley ironsilk and Siglon-F... Ironsilk seems to work best, only berkley product i like lol Burtess- That's what i figured, just curious tho as to why the price of it... but hey, i'll give it a shot and see what happens, may just stumble across something that works and is cheap!!
  3. absolutely, but at the same time, 9/10 times the local tackle shop (1/2hrs away) is usually sold out of the Raven (all they carry) and when i gotta have i gotta have it so it's easier to order it... i will be sticking with Raven leaders, with 8lb Ande/Siglon mainline for the centerpin and 13' rod... but when it comes to bass fishing i'm not so sure the the difference between the 2 fluoro's will make a difference which is why i'm wondering how a 100% main fluoro is different than a 100% leader fluoro... Maybe i'm just hoping that the price of it all will come down lol
  4. how can seaguar then say: "The first 100% fluorocarbon line suitable for main-line fishing. Hard outer shell provides excellent abrasion resistance and strength while the softer inner core gives you controlled stretch and virtually no spool memory. Plus, its low-light refraction properties render this line almost invisible, so it's the perfect choice for clear water situations. Completely resistant to UV rays and unaffected by temperature changes.".. I'll probably grab a 15lb 200yd spool for bassin' and a 4lb spool for ice fishing and ultra-lighting... just curious is all the P-Line CFX only comes in 25yd spools aswell, so i assume it's actual fluoro, not their "fluoroclear" brand... i have Raven 4.5 fluoro leaders for steelies aswell, seems to work good...
  5. Can someone explain to me why i'd want to buy a 25yd spool of fluorocarbon for $10 instead of a 200yd spool for $15? Is there a difference between a mainline and leader fluoro? steelies didn't mind my fluoro from my silverthread "mainline" last year... just curious, Seaguar is the brand i'm looking at also... 200yd carbon pro or invizx is under $20... just wondering the "benefits" as they're both supposed to be full fluoro....

yeah, the jpeg compression really messes it up, especially if you're gonna resize anyways lol... i shoot in RAW, but alot of people don't like the 10MB per picture it uses and the extra work you sometimes have to do to get it "right", but ALOT easier to work with in photoshop/paint/elements/etc... a pain in the but, but after "editing", then you resize you often gotta re-edit... an all around relaxing picture no matter how you look at it.... kinda gives that peaceful feeling lol

Nice pic... hope you don't mind, ran it through photo paint pro XI and came up with this... muted the reds as you like and just ran it through the 1 step photo fix... i'm shooting dslr and post processing is a large part of it, haven't gotten out myself so i've been fiddling here and there with pics posted here... hope you don't mind!!
  8. Thank you DanC... now i've got more reason to buy a 50mm f1:1.7 prime lense, a 16mm wide angle, a fish eye and of course my 70-300mm zoom... wife is gonna divorce me for this now lol
  9. just to add on a bit, different brands have different names for the same thing.... as an example with DSLR's you have Nikons VR (vibration reduction- in lens), canons IS (Image Stabilization- in lens) and Pentax's SR (Shake reduction- in body)- it's a completely different ball game in the way they work with vibrations as compared to your typical P&S camera... here's a bizarre test someone did with their pentax, comparing the SR on VS SR off... http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/readflat...7176&page=1 If it doesn't work... then here's the same pics http://www.pbase.com/jl2/k10d_sr_test How real world it is, well it's not but it gives and idea of what IS/SR/VR can do... Be warned tho, IS doesn't always work... especially at the long end of the zoom... i have a Kodak P850 (recently upgraded to a Nikon and didn't like the idea of $500. lenses, so switched to Pentax SLR) and the IS will save alot but not all... overall, i wouldn't go without it!!
  10. i do like the idea of being able to vote for a candidate in the riding plus an additional vote for the party... i know in a riding close to me some people don't want NDP elected, yet Peter Kormos takes care of the people in his riding like no other and they always elect him... The only thing we got regarding the referendum was a pamphlet that explained pretty much everything, except HOW/WHO is chosen by the elected party...
  11. yup, just search the email addy
  12. and if you bring it through a business you get hit with the same + other tariff charges... fishing reels/rods (6.5%), fishing line (7%), sinkers/lures/nets (6.5%) and other stuff.... and lets be honest, the brokerage they use (either a firm or their own employees) won't ask for a reduction in wages because of the dollar and if you come through customs with a truckload of stuff and most of it is "free/exempt" you'll be questioned on it, the govt loves it's money... but in the meantime with the dollars being at par it means the business' can then make more profit from new wholesale purchases from the U.S. while still recouping lost profits by not lowering retail prices (in comparison to the "new" wholesale price- more profit for the company and more taxes for the govt- wonderful world isn't it?)... so in the end, the worth of the CDN dollar doesn't mean much unless you're buying in the U.S.... wonder how much it would cost for Basspro to go through their entire inventory and "reduce" the price to 10% above the american pricing equivelant? Thankfully i only import car loads of stuff through my business, no long hours of being inspected
  13. well i think both salesman were right, to an extent... a nice amplifier will increase clarity, a less than decent amplifier will dirty the signal... and the speakers can only play as good as the amp tells them too. As for subwoofers, if you've got say 1 2volt pre-out and you Y it then each powered subwoofer will be getting 1 volt each... yuo'll have to up the gains and get close to, if not into, clipping and thats the worst of a dirty signal again. If the subwoofers aren't powered, then you'll be doubling or halfing the Ohms, so it'll either make your 100W subwoofer play at 50W x both subwoofers= 100W (what you already had) or it will be calling for double the power (aproximately) and you better hope your amplifier can handle it... just not a good idea to mix and match subwoofers... If it were me, i'd buy a 6.1 amp and call it a day... Paradigm isn't too shabby... but i do agree with Harmon Kardon being really good aswell... but for me, i'd go with an Elemental Designs A3-250 for an off the shelf sub.... would rather build my own tho
  14. i just upgraded from my okuma aventa to a raven classic... only got 3 fish on the okuma, nice reel, kinda torn between which one i want to sell ($100 for the okuma or $225. for the raven- raven hasn't even had line on it)... i'm using a 13' quantum PT rod with it... the adventa rod was way too whippy, the okuma sheffield was nice tho... just got a REALLY good price on the quantum
  15. was so good i had to post it twice .... site froze lol
  16. i have 2 that are made by D-A-M, we use them for catfishing in the spring, we fish at night so it lets us know when there's a bite... has a couple different settings for volume and tone aswell so we don't get all confused about who's is going off, of course it has lights that light up but really who wants to turn their heads if they ain't got a bite lol we got the cheap pro-tronic cause we don't use it much... think i paid $20 a piece for them, retail is around $25-$30 i think... http://www.dam.de/katalog/html/englisch/dam_bissanzeiger.htm
  17. i use kick'n'bass crawfish/garlic/anise mixture in my baits... and if you aren't afraid of ordering online upperhand hawg marinade/sauce is really good...
  18. Hey Steve, what time you opened tomorrow? been saying i'm gonna stop in for a long time (it's Spanky from NFN) and it's time i do so this weekend..... Would love to get the wife out for some of them eyes, too many things going wrong at this time... but dang, thems some nice fish!!

  21. PM Fishmaster for a charter... if you wanna do a bit of bass and pike fishing hit the welland rec. canal... salmon *should* be showing up at night in Port Dalhousie (15min drive from welland), chuck some glow spoons after dark for them... Not really any place within an hour from here to rent a boat sadly....
  22. it was a grass carp confirmed by the OMNR.... http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Science/2007/0...375730-sun.html
  23. Rick, i think i have some seafoam around here... if not i can probably get some next week if you're interested PM me and let me know...
  24. Kinami flash= $4.49 U.S. for a 7 pack... GYCB Senko= $5.99 U.S. for a 10 pack... both are about .60 U.S. per bait, they aren't cheaper... EDIT... actually they're more expensive than the originals, just less of an initial price shock
  25. IMO... there is no comparison between the tiki and the Senko... if i had to buy mass produced Senko knockoff's, i'd buy the Yum Dinger... if i could buy any knockoff, it would be from a quality hand pourer, such as www.bassmagnetlures.com I've used many knockoff's, i don't include the Kinami brand in there cause it's Gary Yamamoto's son who makes them and they're the same thing, and the dinger is a nice replacement for the original... never used komanchi tho, so i don't know about them, but they obviously catch fish... i only use my own hand poured ones (and nope, i'm not affiliated bassmagnetlures.com either) as i can get closer to the senko and make whatever colour it is i want...
