  1. local shop here has them, not sure how they perform any differently then a regular swimbait with a paddletail like that, i understand how/why the originals work... i don't konw, maybe try it with a hybrid retrieve of part jerk bait with long pauses? I guess down south the tackle shops aren't selling them like they thought they would... but hey, what works for some may not for others and vice-a-versa... may just be the ticket of the year, who knows, i know even colours of the same bait don't work well in particular areas- ie mustard seed being good on the kawarthas chain and not so good here, just one of them things i guess
  2. works good for me on my centerpin, fish alot of wood and haven't had a problem yet, great in the cold weather too!!.... i only use suffix elite and poer pro on my spinning/baitcasting rigs tho, not suer how well it holds up in them situations..
  3. for me, because i hand pour my own i have lots of choices.... i think the ones i have the most confidence in are: Bubblegum Purple Haze (my own colour---smoke w/2 sizes of purple glitter, 2 sizes of fuschia glitter and pink glitter) Triple Purple (my own again-- violety/purple colour with pearl white and 2 sizes fuschia and 1 size violet grape glitter) Money maker (my own- no salt, no colouring, just silver, gold and platinum flakes, fished wacky with a weighted hook) Pretty much have alot of confidence in anything that has purple in it... seems to be a great colour for us down here And i'm hoping my new senko trype bait will work really equally aswell, it's 5.25" with apx a 2" paddletail (leave it as is, fork it, or shred it like a tube... new bait for this year )
  4. so what would be the consensus ona cheap starter pod like this here... http://americancarpsociety.com/store/produ...=289&page=1 will use it for catfishing a dozen times a year, i don't carp fish so i obviously do'nt need the best and will be getting a DAM Pro*tronic alarm to go with it... think it'll be a cheap easy rig for me that will work well .... have a US address so shipping/duty generally doesn't affect me any
  5. Raycroft could get the record for most wins in a season by a leafs goalie, not too shabby... Tucker, man sometimes i just wanna slap him around a bit for his loud european style of play (re: diving, embellishing and then whining and tantrum throwing), but Sundin, he's the man, gonna tie the record for most goals as a leafs tonight and break it tomorrow... Hope Kabby is the same... and Wellwood has been looking kinda dodgy, like he's still in pain or something not the Welly from October... we shall see tho, but as a die hard Leafs fan, don't think they're gonna make it this year and JFJ will hopefully lose his job
  6. Did one of them already, Kesagami in '98 with my grandfather who passed 2yrs later.... now, i'd like to just find some place where the fiance and i can go for our honeymoon and have quiet nights in and great days on the water... Of course i'd love to do some arctic grayling fishing with the mountains as a back drop...
  7. i never noticed you were from Poawasson, we stayed up there about 10yrs ago, got my first walleye there casting from shore... stayed on wassie lake (think that's what it was), thinking about going back up for our honeymoon in May aswell, beautiful place!!
  8. Big Cliff- www.tackleunderground.com is your best bet for all that is luremaking, them wheel weights will work fine for casting jig heads, a few guys on TU use them. As for plastics, well, that all depends on what you want to do... to start out you can get a good kit for $120. U.S., that'll make i think 300 or so senko type baits... then after that it gets expensive, $130. U.S. for 5gals of plastic, aluminum molds depending on what you want can range from $25 to over $200., RTV molds are cheaper but usually only 1 sided... bah, probably easier to read on TU to see what it'll take lol Nipising- are those the only style jig head you make? trying to find some shakey head jigs, not really up for paying over $1. each...
  9. That's a huge reel Photoz, carping i guess? My local shop has 1 in stock and he showed it to me yesterday and i was totally taken back by it's sheer size.... that's when i picked up my Stradic 2500 and compared the 2, looks good for surf and carp fishing tho!! I personally don't like quantum spinning reels, seem to be alot heavier then shimano and Daiwa... love the baitcasters tho!! So who knows, their upper lines might be lighter (makeslonger days easier for me)
  10. i make my own soft plastics, from senko type to trick worms to goby's, cost is prohinitive when buying CNC aluminum molds, but the detail and end result is well worth it imo... and yes, they are carried at a local tackle store and will be available online in the near future...
  11. Maybe microsoft hired the same guys revenue canada did to do maintenance on their systems
  12. msn messenger is down too it appears
  13. Thanks Maureen... for some reason the linky's they had on their webpage wasn't working for me, of course the flyer was down too so i'm sure they were related.... thanks!!
  14. okay, i saw a list somewhere of who was doing what seminars and at what time... anyone have any info on them? heading to Pearson to pick some one up on the 18th so figure i may aswell hit BPS for some seminars too, if there's anything appealing to me
  15. Yep, my local shop is like that as well... actually, i'm carless next weekend, so he's gonna come pick me up in a different city (Thorold) and then drive back through the city he lives in (Niagara Falls) just to go fishing for a few hours... stopped into Bill's Bait with said tackle store owner and the guy (didn't get his name) was extremely helpful too, once he knew the guy i was with owned a shop they were like long lost brothers LOL One of them great things local shops will do that you can't expect from any big box places... stop in and filtered try again please about filtered try again please once in a while, buy a few things and yuo're usually as good as gold. I only pick up odd ball things at the big box stores, as the gas to my favourite (re:not local) is more then $5. worth of bare hooks and sinkers lol
  16. We stayed at Kesagami in '98, they had opened a new lake the week before we arrived and we were the second person to fish it... i'm not sure where edgar is, but the "new" lake was on the same side as the lodge was only down a bit, we were able to portage in there with our guide... i would assume Edgar would be much like kesagami in that weedbeds for pike and deeper waters for walleye, really couldn't drop a line in the water with out it being bit by one or the other...
  17. thanks guys, i'm just tagging along with another ice fishing newbie for a small trip up that way and will be passing by so thought we'd give 'er a go for a bit... it's on the way and the ice fishing gear is cheap, so why not... never done it, never planned on doing it, have the opportunity to do it so why not?
  18. Anyone been out recently? i'm heading out for my first ice fishing day... i don't have the gear yet, just decided i need to fish. So i'm asking for some advice for the area as i have never even been there in the summer time. I'm heading out to buy gear tonight 2 rod/reel combo's and jigs of some sort (clueless), so hopefully someone can chime in on what i *should* have with me.... they sell bait there or? is there any depth i should be looking for? Besides heading for a group of other huts is there a particular area i might have better luck in? Sorry so many questions, just new to the ice-fishing thing and have no idea and i know how easy it is to get skunked... hoping to get wifey out there next weekend, just have to convince her ice is okay to walk on lol Thanks for any help guys, it's much appreciated... i need to get out of the apartment and away from pouring plastic baits
  19. so to be different i'll say sharp shinned hawk... keep in mind i know nothing about birds, i just like to be different
  20. i think it's all in where you shop, i'm relatively sure that Gill Finigans here in the Niagara area had/has Stradics for $165+taxes... cabelas is $120 U.S. plus convesion, shipping, brokerage, taxes.... as for the other reels, said tackle shop has the Quantum energy E760PT & E761PT reels on sale for $160. plus taxes CDN and Cabelas has them for $189. U.S. plus conversion, shipping, brokerage, taxes... just gotta look around, not all shops have huge price differences
  21. someone, just anyone, explain to me how you could not see this happening? ... the announcers saw it coming, i saw it coming, the fans saw it coming, heck even my wife saw it coming- all right after the hit.... Murray was the only one who didn't see it happening, Heatley started the cross checking before they even got set for the face-off. A guy from the AHL, "skill" player not a goon, went toe to toe with Neil and he had no problem with the beat down of a "skilled" player (re: non-"goon")... if i was Muckler i'd be ticked at Murray for being the only one on the planet that was clueless about what was going to happen... BTW- there wasn't really an fights, apart from the initial Spezza fight and then someone jumped on the sabres players back... then the 2 Emery fights (I hear he's an amateur boxer, so i am willing to say he'd be up for a fight with anyone in the league), mostly just dropped gloves and played "ring-around-the-goalie"... totally blown out of proportion, but i still don't get the whole "well, our goon just dropped their captain with a debatable hit, let's put the #1 line out there i think it's all over with now...." thought... can't find a logical reason other then for the Sens to say "ahh, look at that, their enforcers jumped our skilled guys... they should be suspended, i'm appalled, i could have never imagined this happening" And for as much flack as Peter's takes, yes he does do some stupid over the line stuff, but for the abuse he takes he shoulda just kept laying the beats on McGratton when he broke his cheek last year, instead of calling in the refs when he saw he was hurt... just so he would be rightfully abused
  22. be curious to know what Murray would do if it was Alfredsson who took that hit, you and i both know Neil and or Mcgratton would be out next shift, last line change or not and a message would be sent... every coach, hell every fan, KNOWS exactly what's going to happen when your teams bruiser takes out the opposing teams leading scorer and Murray knew it was coming, he put the Spezza line out in hopes that nothing would happen or maybe he had to 'cause he had no one else to send out there? Neil gonna take everyone on by himself?... and atleast this year the Sens have zero excuse for not being tough enough, they're probably as tough and physical as any other team in the league And for a team full of "goons" they sure do seem to be doing okay for themselves, don't they? first place overall i believe... BTW- was a nice clean hit imo on Drury, no problems with that and no problems with Ruff's decision to send out his tough guys to let the Sens know it ain't gonna happen again and it sure as heck ain't gonna be happening in their house.... and yes Ruff is a whiny little, you get the idea
  23. watched part of it, i grew up with Peters and he's always been "odd" like that, and emery just looked like he was having tonnes of fun... imo GREAT for the game... but the Sens have more tough guys then the Sabres (Neil and Mcgratton- healthy scratch, but like the announcer said his 9 game healthy scratch streak will come to an end), i think it would be a pity if Peters or anyone else gets suspended before tomorrow nights game, they want to introduce old time rivalries here's the start of one!!
  24. I had to make 2 installs for my satellite to be hooked up and talked with over 10 reps to do so, 3 of them being supervisors... prior to that i had to make 2 install appointments for my bell internet... seems astho they have a serious habit of "losing" orders. After the 1st install was missed it took 6 Bell reps to "find" the order, the 5 other basically said i was crazy and it didn't exist, the 6th one found it apologized up and down, waived the install fee and all equipment rental charges- so we booked another appointment. Called the day before the appointment was scheduled, they couldn't find it again... kept transferring me to every department before someone finally found it and confirmed they would be here.... and even prior to our first booked appointment we spoke with a half dozen people from bell over the phone, trying to get it set up... they told us to go to the nearest bell store (1/2hr away) and pick up the receiver, so we did only to find out that we can't get it there, we have to have someone come out with it cause we live in a multi-dwelling unit- which the reps on the phone knew already.... and now i'm finding out that we can't get WFN or WildTv because our dish on the roof isn't setup for it <--- again after we were told we could order it!! This has all taken place in the last 3 weeks, we shall see if any charges were waived on the bill, if they aren't then bell can get lost and we'll switch everything over to cogeco!! Little long winded, but i haven't had the chance to rant about it... and i didn't even get to the missed internet installation and then the problem we were having accessing sites with JAVA and being told to take out computer in to a "professional" and have JAVA configured with sympatico's software... ticked, i am!!
  25. They want they're own exclusive everything... they didn't even want a McD's like 10miles from downtown, in the middle of the boonies off a major road into NOTL 'cause "it will smell like grease"... unless you drive a $50,000 lexus, make 6 figures and own 2 homes mortgage free you're not welcome there- well for 98% of the residents it's like that!! Gawd i hate that town....
