  1. we had a guy bail on us for our upcoming Temagami trip. need another body to fill in. March 7-11. approx. $180 + food/booze/gas staying in an on-ice bungalow at Loon Lodge. Contact me or Lunkerhunter if you're interested or want more info. Thanks!
  2. LOVE IT!!! Muskie Tournies... I'd be all over that!
  3. i thought "snot rocket" was a term devoted to pike... nice whitie though!!!
  4. I'm sure the coyotes have already taken care of it....
  5. agreed! no strength at all. cool looking fish, and a challenge to catch, but no fight. as soon as you get their nose out of the water they are done!
  6. LOL. i was thinking "Road-kill Skunk" but i like the other suggestions also.
  7. just take a drive down to the shores of Lake O... if it's low there, you better believe it's gonna be the same for Quinte. lol. pretty sure it's 2 feet low... has been all spring.
  8. thanks for the compliments everyone! the blades are size 8 and there is a 5/8 oz egg weight buried at the bottom of the marabou. should be enough to get it down a couple feet at least. plus the beads and body piece are solid metal, so there is a fair bit of weight on these baits.
  9. So i finally got around to ordering some lure making materials to tie my own in-line muskie spinners... i missed a couple components in my original order, so i'm gonna have to wait to tie up a few colours that i'm really excited to make... those will be coming soon... but anyways... on to my first three creations... the classic black and red... i couldn't find any of these in stores last year... so inevitably i had to make one... i had some success last year with black and orange, so i decided to invert that combo... although i wish i had added more black feathers throughout the body... and i was kinda disappointed with the orange marabou... it isn't very thick... hopefully that doesn't show too badly in the water... and my latest creation... i know i've just started this hobby, but i think i've outdone myself already... my original plan was just a plain black and white skunk pattern... then i thought of adding some red feathers... then when i reached the end of the white, i added some black feathers for the transition... then finished off all of the black and it looked like it was still missing something... so i added a bit of white to top it all off... sometimes i even shock myself with the stuff i come up with... though i'm sure it's been done before. lol. i think this may be my new favourite muskie lure!!! yellow/red will be made when i get the gold hardware in my next order. and the classic black/orange with orange blades will also be done when i get some paint for the blades. among others. lol. 44 days till MUSKIE OPENER!!!!!
  10. i've been fishing rice for almost 20 years and i've never heard any channel cats coming out of there... lots of bullheads though...
  11. i was there on monday. water level is high. the launch at the narrows is fine... you wont have any problems there... our luck in the fishing department was less than good...
  12. tail looks forked to me... although it's hard to tell, my money is still on musky.
  13. i was up there on monday for a drive... still lots of ice on the lake... the narrows are ice free though... hope that helps.
  14. the water level is pretty low on mitchell right now... there's no water in the swampy area on the south side of 48. which means the lake is down 2-3 feet from normal.
  15. there was still ice on the lake as of monday.
  16. i wouldn't recommend launching without a 4X4... i learned that the hard way today... not fun. lol. AND i didn't catch anything.
  17. not any of the one that have pike... i took a drive around yesterday... shorelines are broken up, but there's still a fair bit of ice on most of the main sections of the lakes.
  18. 2 weeks ago Big Bay had 14 inches of ice. should be close to 20 if not more now. pm me if you need directions to parking...
  19. the last time i was in the gas station by Emily Park (by the bridge that crosses the river) they had plenty of maps there.
  20. i think that's part of the reason why i don't really want to try ice fishing the kawarthas. lol. panfish skunkings are the worst!
  21. i was thinking the same thing... unfortunately i don't have any perch left from my last outing... Enjoy! GO CANADA GO!!!
  22. i was out there yesterday... had one small fish up to the hole and it came off, probably a little hammer handle. that was it for the day... didn't have any minnows though. ice was anywhere from 2-6 inches. water on top of the ice was anywhere from 0-5 inches. should be nice and solid by tuesday though!
