  1. awesome year so far brother! Good Job! you've inspired me to look through my year to date pictures... maybe i'll do up a "mid year recap" as well... well, maybe after tomorrow's fishing adventure... lol.
  2. that looks like beautiful frog water there... i wouldn't have been able to leave that... slop and pads and largies... can't beat that! Awesome report! Thanks for sharing!
  3. there's a dock and ramp in Port Perry... Turn down water st. there will be signs pointing you to the ramp.
  4. what are you targeting?
  5. the person who told you this about Rice is probably talking about the algae bloom in August, and into September... it turns the entire surface of the lake green... like pea soup.
  6. LOL... no kidding... i was kinda wondering why my topic from a year and a half ago was brought back to the top, hahaha. sounds like a great time out on the BOG though! welcome to OFC!
  7. so was it caught with commercial type a net or just landed with a net?
  8. i would say we were probably within 50 feet, maybe less... the cottage is a stone's throw from the water... as you can see from the pictures... we all had only 1 line in each, and we all had licenses... i don't see any harm in what we did... all but 1 fish was released. the one that i kept was delicious. and if we go back up there, we'll do it all again.
  9. we didn't leave them out overnight... at night, while we were playing cards, we would go out and check on them every 20 minutes or so, then bring them in before we went to bed. we had a visual on the rods at all times... there was a light shining on them from the deck. if we were breaking the law, then the laws should be changed, LOL.
  10. LOL. like my bumper sticker says, "My undersized musky just ate your trophy bass" hahaha
  11. i'd say get a small-ish musky lure in a bass pattern... maybe in an 8 or 9 inch size... mimick a distressed bass... a jerkbait maybe???
  12. if shipped using USPS/Canada Post, you will get dinged for cross border customs (Duty) most of the time if the value is over $100 (at least in my experiences)... if it is shipped via courier, you will get hit pretty hard for cross border shipping.
  13. just finished frying up some fresh catfish! delish!
  14. First off, My buddy Josh and I have the same birthday (June 25), and oddly enough, we were even born the same year... so for our birthday we went up to his cottage with a few friends. fishing wasn't the main focus of the trip, but we planned on putting in at least a few hours each day. we headed up to Sparrow Lake on Friday a little later than expected, but we were at the marina by about 10pm... the cool part about the cottage is that there is no road access to their property, so we had to get there by boat. so we got my boat launched and packed up their boat and mine, and we were off. we didn't even wet a line that night, mainly because we got up there so late, and because we got into too many beers. the next day started out late also... sometime in the afternoon, lol. but Josh and i got out for the evening to do some frog fishing in some thick weeds. we got into a few small bass and small pike. i got one semi-decent largemouth... when we got back to shore we got a camp fire going and got our catfish gear ready. set them up with sliding egg weights and baited up with big suckers and chubs that we had bought from the bait shop... they were dead by the time we used them, but dead baits work just as good, if not better for cats. we didn't get anything that night, but something bit off my 65 lb power pro, and my buddy Jake's line was also bit off... the next morning Jake was watching my set line when the clicker started going off. then he reels in the first Bowfin of the weekend... go figure, he catches it on my rod and i've never caught a Bowfin before, lol. after that Josh and I went out to look for some bass, but all we found was a small deer... the rest of that day we had pretty steady action off the dock. Josh caught a nice Channel Cat which was later released after we got a couple nice double header photos... he also caught another Bowfin. by this point i've had 3 fish on my line and missed all of them, 2 of them straightened my hook and the other bit through my 65 lb braid again! then i finally get on the board with my first ever Channel Cat, and i also got a nice pike shortly after as well. we got into a couple more cats that night... this one is a pretty cool picture, lol. then the next morning i got the first and only solid bass of the weekend. only 3.5 lbs, but not bad for just casting off the dock... later that night we put the set lines back out for cats and as we played cards we would periodically check them for fish, then check to make sure we still had bait on the hooks... after i don't know how many drinks, we went back down to check the lines, and my rod was suspended between the dock and the chair that we supported the rods on. i quickly grabbed the rod and landed another decent cat. the next morning we went out in the rain and explored the lake a bit, only got a few small pike and 1 baby bass... no pictures of the fish, but we saw a small family of loons, which was kinda cool... we came back to the cottage for breakfast, and before the food was ready Josh got another catfish... ended up being the biggest fish of the weekend weighing in at 10 lb 2 oz. and a picture of the big one side by side with the one that i kept...
  15. it took Raycroft 72 games to hit the 37 win mark, where it only took Belfour 62... take it or leave it, that's still 10 more games! LOL. if you think about it... Raycroft's 37 wins is barely over 50% of the games he played... not the greatest stat in my books!
  16. LOL. thanks bud. the Jersey was an early birthday present from my parents. my dad picked it up in Philly last week. can't wait for the NFL to start back up! lookin forward to seeing Brady back in the line-up!
  17. explore the lake!!! doesn't matter what side you fish on... the lake is full of muskies! they're practically everywhere. Prime water would be 4-6 fow with cabbage and coontail weeds. find that and you'll find the skis! that being said, me and a buddy went to a totally different part of the lake tonight and went 0 for 3 on the skis. 2 lost right at the boat and one further out which i didn't get to see clearly, but i'm sure it was 40+ inches.
  18. can't give away the spot guys, sorry... we were checked by a CO around 4pm. didn't see the police out there this time.
  19. fishing with jerkbaits would be your best option for pike... husky jerks in blue/silver/orange and firetiger are the top 2 for the islands. for bass you can go with spinnerbaits or throw plastics.
  20. For a few weeks now my dad, brother and I have been planning a day out to the quinte area for Father's Day... that was supposed to be Friday... but when my dad came home from Philadelphia thursday night and he saw the pictures from the past week of Scugog Musky fishing, he quickly changed his mind about Quinte... He wanted to get his first musky! unfortunately my dad didn't get his first musky... i guess he hasn't hit his 10,000th cast yet!!! it was the same story for my brother... he couldn't hook up with his first musky either. although i was able to land my 4th and 5th of the season. a 31 incher to get the ball rolling... then my first legal ski of the season... a 36 incher... then my dad get's into a fish... a 10" perch on a mepps musky maribou spinner... that fish had balls!!! LOL. both of my fish were caught on a bucktail spinnerbait.
  21. awesome Steve! but you're right, you definitely need to work on the camera timer pics! LOL.
  22. i was out on scugog today (thursday), started fishing at 9:30am and didn't get any skis until the clouds blew over at 8:45pm... then between me and my buddy we landed 1 each and i lost one boatside... all three came within 20 minutes!!!
  23. we figured the fish to be 20+ as is... but it was pretty thin, which is to be expected at this time of year.
  24. we were using the exact same bait... he just had the beginner's luck going for him i guess. those were his first 2 muskies while actually targeting them!!!
