  1. I understand that we have to import and export. Some things that concern our Immediate needs like we have experienced should be built in CANADA. especially our health needs. BC produces the pulp to make masks, we ship it to the states, WHY not keep some and have a manufacturing plant. Just like our oil goes south. YES. I do support, import and export; some things we should manufacture and store for ourselves. All nations should in case the supply line is broken. Which it has. Yes they are expensive to produce, so allocate a few of our TAX dollars to the cause. I have extra supplies stored for my own use in case of an emergency. The essentials. For example power goes out and you out of groceries you have to pay CASH, so keep a small amount of cash on hand. My son in law ran a CT franchise out of his phone when the power went out. I learned a lot in 2013! My wife loves to bake and at the beginning of this years I found 22kg of flour at 8.97 I bought three bags for Easter baking. WHY did you do that For she asks, hei cheap and it lasts. We are down to out last bag and will NEVER see 8.97 again. keep well and remember your grandparents made tomatoes and peppers and all sorts of stuff for the winter. WE rely on our supply line too much. I was home this year and my small garden produced tomatoes, hot peppers, lettuce, zucchini basil, parsley and even some potatoes that had gone to seed and planted. Keep well JD. I will be doing more next year if we are still on this earth.
  2. Lew, when this thing started and we had shortage of PPE supplies my first thought was why do we depend on others for this stuff. We have a giant empty GM plant in Oshawa Fully powered, why not divide it and make all of the equipment we need, here in Ontario. People work and no chain supply. BC supplies the raw material for masks which we send to the US and other places so we can buy it back and at one time they were trying blocking us getting it from 3M. Does this make sense? I read a while back that some of the plant is being used, lets use it all and we can export. Hopefully it will get better soon but we must be prepared. In 2013 we had the ice storm, I made it a point to Make sure if it happens again I will have power. Always had food stock on hand. I will check my purchase from COSTCO to see where they were made. THEY ARE CHINA MADE, 50 of them!
  3. Thanks for the link. better than the Oshawa company I found. They had none.
  4. Any chance of getting a link, are they the place in Oshawa?
  5. The last ones I bought were called MAINSTAY, they have another brand also. two rolls, 32 feet close to $12. I also use the 8 inch. I’m going to test the ziplock one of these days. as for figuring out the size to make them, if I’m doing chicken from COSTCO, I separate what I need to pack, I measure it with the scale on the bag and cut, leaving 2 inches to go in the vacuum holder. Usually works out ok.
  6. Shag, I have two of them had them for years. The reason for the second one was, when you do a lot they get hot and stop. Probably a safety thing. I saw the second one at a great price and bought it, just in case it failed for good. YES FoodSaver rolls are expensive. I have fo found another brand at Walmart and it work just as good. My butcher uses regular bags a to pack our meat. I asked him for a few to test. They say regular bags Don’t work. I used a small piece of plastic straw in one corner. it did seal it but have to cut the straw that sticks out. I use it a lot.
  7. Princess auto had one on sale last week. May still be on. I have had one for over 10 years and the best thing I ever got. CT put them on sale next month for fall preserving. Great for roasted peppers.

  12. Fred did not eat it! You may have other varmints! This is out of my realm to think that a tomato goes missing in the middle of the night. Terry! Just joking . . I have tomatoes, zucchini, peppers (very hot) Swiss chard, Basil, parsley . . The only thing I have lost is my beans (rabbit) some lettuce (same rabbit) I like him so he is safe. I have lost a rabbit to a fox, head was across the street, leg in my driveway. They were driven out hopefully by a guy cutting his bushes and found their den.
  13. Nice catch, I took two of my grandkids at the Isabella St pier last Friday and they caught dinky perch.
  14. A River runs rhough it, just like the one we know down the hill.

  17. You could have come down to Lefroy and danced on the pier with us, because there were no fish anywhere near it. Jet skiis and water skiers golore.
  18. Glad to have you back Mr Blizzard (Albert, Woody town) have no clue on what you are having problems with. Say dog sled could help? Just kidding man. My mechanic closed is shop after 33 years today. I was a client for 30. A true friend, better than my doctor. He would bend over backwards helping with repairs to make sure it was done right and cost effective. I will miss him. Now to find another when my Jeep gets older.
  19. When this is over we can stand on top of the cliff.
  20. Hwy 27 and Rutherford, North east side, yes that would have been quite the drop. All homes now and the ones on the cliff are pricy!
  21. I now sit on the fifth hole of his golf course. Loved watching him. When he owned the course I heard from a reliable source that he would ride a golf cart down Clarence while tipsy and go get pears at a house near Hwy 7. He also sold Christmas trees at Bathurst and St Clair for a few years. kinda like Mr B, happy go lucky type of a guy.
  22. Condo life! Probably hidden in maintenance fees but still a good deal. Gas was 293. Gas water heater and stove going all of the time.
  23. $26 for a month? What in that smoker of yours? How do you get that. Our delivery charge is double that alone.
