any opinions from anyone who has knowledge ice fishing this lake? Also does it have a longer season than Nipissing? thanks.

I have been witness a few times where the sledders were purposely running over tip-ups on nipissing. My buddy had a few destroyed. Then he found a solution. He took out his paint ball gun and when the jackass ran over a set up he was waiting and unloaded the gun while the "sledder" went past, never had a problem since.

Well first off lots of people are driving there cars on the ice on nip,it has about 30inches of ice and very little snow.Right now best bet might be Callander Bay. Not very far to walk out either. Where I just got back from(today) South Shore was fairly slow but they have some great plowed roads out on the ice and would suspect they do also in Callander. As far as gear the walleyes we caught were all on small jigging spoons like a "walleye hawg or crippled herring" tipped with a shiner . Set lines with minnows only caught perch, most being dinks. We also caught about 6 herring on the jigs also.A lot of guys just jig with a line,no rod. She probably could rent a hut for half a day for about 30 bucks with a ride out and lines provided. Try calling Grump and Grumpy they do half day rentals and have openings most weekdays.

Last time I was down in Windsor at the Columbia Outlet they had their fishing vest regular price 99 bucks marked down 9.99. They had a ton of them so you might want to call them to see if they have any left. Real nice vest.

I would go to the west side of Nipissing/French River area. Great fishing walleye, pike, bass, musky ,tons of resorts to choose from and amazing scenery. Here check this link http://www.lakair.com/

just like any info on this lake ,I would like to give it a try in about 2 weeks when up that way. Just looking for any info on species, access in the winter, and any other advice . thanks.

If your reffering to Restoule, the river is fishable but not navigatable. There is a 150 yard section that is rapids but both above and below the rapids holds fish. Actually if you camp in the group camping area you have access to the river(you are camping right on the bank among some huge pines, great spot ) and to Restoule Lake, the rapids flow to Stormy Lake.Lots of bass and pike in the river and there are some deeper holes that hold walleye in the river. If you don't need electricity to camp and don't mind using vault toilets I would suggest the group camping area. The main washrooms(showers, laundry) are only a short 2 minute drive away. If you need any advice on some sites or any other info just ask.

I will second Restoule about 3 hours for you. Quiet park. great fishing(walleye, bass, musky, lakers, whitefish, pike) the camp ground is one of the best for large private sites on the water although they are hard to book.I have been going there for 23 years now. There are several back lakes in the area as well.Good hiking trails, lots of water to boat on only 45 minutes to North Bay.The village has a beer store, general store,Legion, marina, and a restaurant.

I have a 2000 Rockwood Premier we bought brand new and have used it every year since with no major problems. I have replaced the tires, and now the door needs some work.(minor) The furnance ,fridge, lights, stove all work just like new. The only down fall with tent trailers are you must pack them down dry or risk mold and rot,and that can problem if pack down day is raining.Always set up and dry out. Clean the outside material every year. I have also removed both tent ends and cleaned the inside material when it showed a little mildew. Couple other things to consider when buying is, ours has real coil mattresses alot more comfortable than the foam mattresses and if you have the option go with one with a add-a-room,these things are great for storing stuff out of the rain, cooking outdoors and keeping the inside of the trailer cleaner with a place to remove shoes that is dry.We have nevered cooked in ours and are non smokers so the inside is odour free and looks new,it will probably last another 10 years easy. Good luck with your descision,I would recommend Rockwood.

Hey Randy do they still sell the door stopper ones up your way? I bought a couple from Bobs Bait on trout lake in North Bay about 15 years ago and my buddy left them on the ice last year. They were made by a local guy nicely painted. I think I paid 10 bucks for them. thanks

thanks for all the replies. I will definately check out being able to transfer my old tapes myself, was not looking forward to spend close to 300 bucks to do that.

if it were me I would trade it in for a 6incher,that is all you should need plus alot easier to drill multiple holes with. As for a tip ,simple make one. An old hockey stick(wood) a door stopper spring,a 18 inch piece of dowling that fits in the spring. 1) cut a 2ft piece of stick and make a 45 degree cut on one end. 2) screww the door spring stopper into the 45 cut. 3) wrap a paper clip on one end of the dowling leaving a small hook shape of clip sticking out. This will be for hooking line on over top of hole. 4) drill 2 small holes on back of cut stick on slight angle away from each other. Hole should be about 8inches apart. This will be for wrapping your line with.Glue in a 2inch piece if dowling in each hole. Just place dowling in spring when fishing unwrap line from back and hook on clip on the end of dowling. This is very popular on nipissing and real easy to make. Alot of guys paint them up,add a small stick on cork patch to hold hooks. Maybe I will try to take a picture of mine and post.

looking to buy a new camcorder I still have the same I have had for 12 years now 8mm tape. Still works but would like to get something smaller that I can directly transfer to my PC and burn dvds. Its going to cost me big bucks to transfer all the 8mm tapes to dvds (about 25 tapes) and I would like to make it simpiler. So could anyone recommend a descent camcorder that uses either a SD card or memory stick.thanks.
