  1. great post blarg.....you hit it on the head
  2. looking to upgrade to a larger outboard and would like to stick to a evinrude. I found a great deal on some new older stock Mercs 60hp but after all the changing of controls and rigging not such a great deal. So if an Evinrude dealer in your area has some great deals on 60-75 hp outboards please post dealer name and area, greatly appreciated. thanks
  3. Well I am a big promoter of Restoule. I have been camping and fishing there for 20 years now.The location of the park helps ease the pressure the lakes and park receive,it seems the farther off highway 11 you are the less busy the park is.It has all you asking for, good fishing, beaches, hiking and biking trails.Lots of wildlife, bears, deer, fox, and moose. A boat is not a must but does make things easier. There are several options for shore fishing right in the park and several others on lakes in the area only a few minutes away. You could rent a boat very reasonably from one of the resorts or better bring along a small outboard and just rent the boat for much cheaper, they also offer canoes.Several of the lakes are all surrounded by either the park itself or crown land very few cottages on some of them. Fishing is very good, walleye, bass, musky, pike, lakers and whitefish. Some of the smaller area lakes receive almost no pressure. If you want more info just ask.
  4. sadly to say i think maybe the only solution is to do nothing. Stop all the stocking programs and let the lake bleed out. Then once the fishery has been totally depleted than maybe everyone will be on board and come to the table. The way it is now is not working and really a waste of money. I hate to see a total collapse but I think that is the way it is headed. There just seems to be to much taking and not enough giving by those involved.
  5. my father who lives on nip ,has said several of the businessmen who operate in the area have told him they will no longer support the stocking program also. They say it is turned into a program to support the netting fishery. They hope to convince customers to target other species.
  6. If any who could pass along a few links to sites in the US(preferably places close to southern ontario) of boat dealers it would be greatly appreciated. I am looking for a new or very lightly used outboard for my boat . I currently have a 40hp and looking to upgrade to a 60-75 hp. I would prefer an Evinrude mainly because thats what I have on right now but will consider all especially a Yammy. I would like to see if I could find a motor cheap enough south than here to make it worth while. thanks.
  7. I'd say about 35 bucks but I will give you 40. seriously nice looking rig probably in the 5-6000 range.
  8. hello Grt1 sorry about the hijack, completely off topic but I would like to get your opinion on something. A friend and I are considering doing a fishing vacation on Pakwash Lake up in your area. I was wondering if you could give us some feed back on the lake and maybe recommend a resort on the lake or in that area if you could. Also any opinions on Pakwash Provincial Park that you may have would also be greatly appreciated. thanks.
  9. We use a 3 way swivel and a 1 oz egg sinker. Tie about 16-20 inches line to the hook from 1 of the swivels and the egg sinker on about 6 inches on the other. Yes make sure you use floaters in the roe bags but also we had more luck using a dew worm and worm blower.
  10. I have a brand new still in the box jiffy ice auger. I have had it now for 2 seasons and have not used it,i have been using my 6 inch manual. The question is is it okay to stay in the box or should i take it out and add some engine storage spray to lube the pistons? Like I said it has never been out of the box. thanks.

  15. I catch several with the blue slime every year on Restoule.Never really thought much about it since the fish have a blue colour also.
  16. my brother and I use to watch Daniel Boone everyday in the 70s after school on reruns. He had his coone skin hat and probably still does. RIP Fess.
  17. I have an older scanoe 15 ft. (coleman) This thing is a workhorse can take a beating too. It is rated for a 5hp and I use a 5hp Nissan on it,man does it move. You can use it as a canoe or a small boat, very stable will handle too large men easily,I think it is rated for 750lbs. If you can find one grab it,they don't last and are getting harder to find.I found mine down in Windsor on Kijiji. Look for the older ones that have the aluminum frame on the inside, the newer ones are only rated for a 2 hp and are not nearly the same quality.
  18. just wondering if anyone has tried sharon creek yet for crappies? Is it ice free yet? thanks
