yeah or nah,....i am looking at ordering a new rain suit and cabelas has theirs on for 50 percent off. Has anyone have any feedback on these suits, good or bad? Also there is insulated and uninsulated,i would like to wear it spring ,summer and fall, it says 150 gram thinsulate,i am thinking a little too warm for spring and summer? Probably better going non insulated and layering underneath as the conditions dictate? Any feedback will be welcomed ,thanks in advance

just going through the cabela's ice fishing flyer that came in the mail I noticed that they have the new jiffy propane powered auger. I was thinking that this would be great,no more carrying gas, oil,no more gas leaking ,no more gas smell. It says a 1 lb. propane canister is equal to one tank of gas. The price is the same as a gas auger.Has anyone heard any feedback on these as reliability is concerned.I would be interested in selling my gas jiffy for one of these. Also as a side note about the flyer they have their guide rainwear on for about 50% off,so you could get an 2 piece set for just under 300 dollars. Also lots of ice fishing gear in the flyer, shacks, combos, boots and so on

i like the cork ones ,can't remember the brand name, they are stamped with a logo with the letter S . The custom made ones they use to sell in Goderich Bait and Tackle (balsa) back 15-20 years ago worked well.I use to also use a Thill balsa that had a thin metal wire bottom,it was made for fast current,it let the bait get down stream ahead of the float with less drag on the wire bottom. I just can't seem to find them anymore, they worked very well.

I have not been up to those rivers all year,at one time i used to be up there 3-4 times a week(dam kids...lol)wow can't believe how low the water is.....at least as it looks there are fish around.

I would probably want to find out where his huts are located first before booking. If they are near the resort up the river fishing might not be so good. You would prefer out in south bay.

hopefully this winter the weather will be a little nicer for hard water. Your best bet for finding a operator for huts and gear would either be long point( contact rotten ronnies for info)) or mitchels bay(contact dennis at bass haven for info and check out his site basshaven.COM) and rondeau bay. There are a few ponds(mill pond, sharon creek, pond mills ponds, and maybe fanshawe lake) in the area where if the ice is safe you could venture out on with a few simple items, tip ups or small ice combo, manuel auger or spud, terminal tackle, small sled to haul gear, hole scoop, small portable shack ,all of this comes up regularly on the classified section or kijiji and can be picked up very reasonable, probably less than 2 trips out with a outfitter. I have all the gear and hut but not the time to get out much if ever(3 kids in travel hockey and work)I even have a brand new jiffy power auger still in the box never opened that has been there for 4 years. But if i can get out and the ice is good i will post to see if you are still interested.

well i just started it and the alarm comes on right away now after it starts. There seems to be nothing wrong with the water outake, there is a strong jet coming out,and i doubt it could be over heating after 3-4 seconds..............any other ideas?
-
i will try again tomorrow, have to leave to pick up kids after school for hockey. I will check the hose for kinks and make sure the muffs are on good. I have done this several times with the muffs.Keep the ideas coming please. thanks

just trying to winterize my motor 70 hp johnson 4 stroke, while running it in the driveway for a few minutes check engine light and alarm came on. Shut it off checked oil ,ok, tried starting it and again after a couple seconds alarm comes back on. Last time i used it it ran perfect. Not sure where to start. It was peeing out the back normal,it did though start running a little rough. The gas has been in there since august, and i did put in some stabilizer. I am thinkinmg either a fuel filter or bad gas? Any body have a idea, thanks

Looks like i will be spending next weekend(anniversary) there with my lovely wife. I have never been to Honey Harbour but of course have heard lots about it. Since she likes fishing looks like i will be able to spend sometime on the water. Just wondering what I could expect and maybe a couple baits/techniques and tips that would be productive in the area for pike and walleyes. I just plan on trolling or casting near shorelines mostly. My time will be limited but would like to hook a few pike.thanks in advance for any tips.

Wow thats to bad about Archie,he was quite the character,i was a very regular customer of his back in the 80s and 90s.Even when he moved into the Hamilton Rd and Adelaide area i was a regular. I thought his son Wes would of took over. I actually got some minnows from Riverside but they were not cheap. Next time I will stop into Angling Sports ,I recently heard that Ken A. is involved there again.

looking for an open utility trailer NF
bow slayer replied to chris.brock's topic in General Discussion
CT stuff is probably okay, but i think you would get a better product and deal if you visited a local trailer place where they make them. Most are overstocked and you can usually bargain them down. A buddy of mine just done this with a place in Windsor got a 6x12 cargo trailer with extras including a 48 inch aluminum tread plate stone guard ,ramp rear door, and lighting . The list on the trailer was 5800. he walked away with it for 4000. In this area there are several builders all with a full lot of product. -
when water has 12 inches or less visibility who should be good with no leader, using the 8lb main line. Myself and the guys i fish with run 2lb. fluro leaders in clear water,so 6lb should be good. I actually still use 3lb maxima mono as a leader and catch as many as the buddies running the fluro, and it is alot cheaper and more durable.

rapalas j-5 and j-7 in black/gold and chartuese have always worked well for me no matter what water body i have used them on. You may need to use something to get them deeper seeing they run very shallow on their own. Depending on depth i am fishing i use a 3/4 oz. bell sinker about 18 inches from lure for water less then 10 fow and then if trolling 10-20 fow 1 oz and a long lead. Anything over 20 fow i use a jet planer. I have also had good luck with deep diving shap raps and fat raps in perch,chartuese,blue/silver and black/gold. Also slow trolling a bottom bouncing warm harness with orange blades and a dew worm works good.

sorry to hear things did not go well. In all my years of staying in the park I have never had anything stolen out of my boat and I leave most of my stuff in it. I know the fishing can be tough in late summer and I have only been up there a couple times and never had the same sucess as I do in Mid july. Did you get a chance to do the tower trail? -
here is a link to cedar grove camp on cameron lake,it says they have a cabin available on the 25th. beautiful area, the prices are very reasonable and they also reny boats and canoes. http://www.cedargrovecottages.com/index.html

you could do what i did a few years back to save some money on the hitch itself. I went to the local auto wreckers and found one like new on the same type vehicle, they removed it and let me have it for 50 bucks(hitch was about 200 bucks at any retailer)and i got a trailer shop to install it and wire in the harness for another 50. Total cost was about 130 bucks with new mounting bolts and wiring harness,i then just bought new draw bar and ball for another 20 bucks (princess auto sale). Everywhere i called they wanted about 300-350 installed plus taxes. I figured i saved about 200 bucks.
