So true. I've read of a few kayakers that have had some close calls with bigger vessels, especially on choppy days it seems. Great idea to make yourself more visible.

I know that episode all to well, I was the cameraman for that. "Golfing for Trout" was the episode name. If it is the same one we are talking about, it would have been about 25 years ago

I know of a few that take full advantage of the system, some do need it and I'm OK with those. The best story was when this parent took their kid down and got them signed onto the "program". When the first cheque came in they were all so proud of the kid. :wallbash: Still gets my blood boiling when there is absolutely no reason for this kid not to be working somewhere. I just don't get it.

Ain't that the truth.

First - I blame Joe for my trolling addiction/obsession. It all started with an 11.5 pound walleye one fall, many years ago. LOL! It also created a friendship for life. A win win I'd say. Second - We need more pictures of the new ride! Looks great! You're in good company with all of us addicts here.

Cosy Cove Cottages - reviews on fishing?
fishnsled replied to icefisherman's topic in General Discussion
If you just want walleye and lots for the shore lunch, Joe's advice might be best. If you are just going for the experience of a good time with friends and family with a mixed bag of fishing, you'll be fine. I know the outfitters on Nipissing would greatly appreciate the business. Copied from the regs. Closed to all species from Mar. 16 - Fri. before 3rd Sat. in May & Dec. 1 - Dec. 31. Walleye and yellow perch open from Jan. 1 - Mar. 15 & 3rd Sat. in May - Oct.15. Walleye S-2, none less than 46 cm (18.1 in.) and C - 1, none less than 46 cm (18.1 in.) Largemouth and smallmouth bass open from 3rd Saturday in June - November 30. Muskellunge open from 3rd Saturday in June – November 30. Northern pike S - 4, not more than 2 greater than 61 cm (24 in.), of which not more than 1 is greater than 86 cm (33.9in.) and C - 2, not more than 1 greater than 61 cm (24 in.), none greater than 86cm (33.9 in.). -

This is what should be done but likely won't happen. -

The Liberal party of Toronto....
fishnsled replied to lookinforwalleye's topic in General Discussion
I know of one person that voted for the Liberals in the last election, almost ended our friendship of 35 years. lol. Met up with them yesterday and asked how they felt about the Liberals now? No comment. I hope the new budget comes with lots of lube as I believe we will need it. I still bang my head over this party and how corrupt they are. YET!!! They still got voted in. Not that there was much choice in the last election.... :wallbash: Edit - you nailed it bigugli. -
It's not only Lyme disease you have to worry about with ticks either. The Powassan virus is much worse. (yes it is named after the community in Ontario - first case in 1958) I've seen quite a bit of talk about it in the news lately. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/powassan-virus-prompts-officials-to-expand-tick-monitoring-1.3036326

Personally I wouldn't, in the long term you pay way more than what you can buy one for. Not the same company but worth a watch. http://toronto.ctvnews.ca/video?clipId=286476 -
And flood warnings for the Parry Sound and Muskoka region. Published Tuesday, April 21, 2015 12:39PM EDT Last Updated Tuesday, April 21, 2015 6:42PM EDT There are flooding concerns in the Muskoka Region a day after heavy rains pounded the area. Ontario’s Ministry of Natural Resources has issued a flood watch for Muskoka, Parry Sound and a north-west portion of Haliburton County. The MNR says water flow at area lakes and rivers continue to climb due to the rainfall received on Monday, and the continued melting of the snow pack. http://barrie.ctvnews.ca/flood-watch-issued-for-muskoka-region-parry-sound-1.2337661

Repurposing of Pickering Nuclear Plant
fishnsled replied to John Bacon's topic in General Discussion
They are but it is a single use launch, looks like it maybe gated in the drawings? I tried to launch once at the gated launch on the east side once and there was no one there to unlock the gate. Haven't been back there since. Maybe the new launch will be fine but I'm having my doubts with the single launch and limited parking. There was a chance to improve it but I think they may have missed the mark. Edit - link to the plans. http://www.pickering.ca/en/discovering/resources/FBW_Masterplan.pdf -

Pave it over and make it a parking lot for vehicles and trailers, 4-6 vehicle boat launch and make it all free. (Since they are screwing up the other launch at Frenchman's) Oh, and throw in some of those glow in the dark spoons. The sale of Hydro should cover it. -

If they noticed a decline in the 90's, why did it take so long to do sometime?? Too little, too late is right. Shut it down all together and see what happens in 10 years time. -
That is cool! Great shots and good job on the call!

That's a trip any fisherman would want with those numbers! Awesome trip for your group and memories for a lifetime too! Great pics!

Made some river floats. (Test results added)
fishnsled replied to misfish's topic in General Discussion
Nothing wrong with learning Brian, we have all now learned from yourmistake...lol! It's no mistake though, it's just a different model. Great looking floats! -
Great shots!

Oh I know about that. Don't forget to leave the skin on the fish until the oil is hot in the pan. Otherwise you'll get a fine to help justify the cost of flying that plane.

That explosive idea is good! https://youtu.be/8A_XOWA-DAk Or the ratchet strap method. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZ651hdwCM4

Put a ratchet strap on the tire to hold the edges tight to the rim, fill with air. It's worked for me.

That is just nuts!
